Submissions, publications, userfiles, and threads can be cataloged to be linked with a given game. Submission cataloging contains the most data, userfile and thread cataloging contains the least. Click the
Catalog
button on either of them to access that page, provided you have the necessary permission.
Submission
On submissions, this will bring up a page with several fields to fill in: system, framerate, emulator, game name and version, goal, sync verification checkbox and additional sync notes.
- Generally, the Platform and Framerate are left untouched. If they need to be changed, a proper movie needs to be made and used as a replacement, so the movie parser does things automatically.
- Emulator version that was used to successfully replay the movie needs to be documented in its respective field (list several if they are required, like libTAS+ruffle)
- If the Game already has an entry on the site, select it in the drop-down menu and click
Update
, if it hasn't been already selected. This will bring you back to the submission page. Click onCatalog
again.- If it isn't known by the site, then it will need to be created by clicking the
New
button next to the Game field. Fill out the info about the game there, including the game genre, then hitSave
. Afterwards, follow the previous step.
- If it isn't known by the site, then it will need to be created by clicking the
- Select the game Version used if it exists for that game, then click
Update
. If it doesn't exist yet, a new entry will need to be created. Click onNew
next to version dropdown, then fill out the information about the ROM as needed (the Version field usually isn't necessary to be filled in). Click onSave
, then click onUpdate
. - Select the Goal of the TAS. If no goal has been created for the TAS so far, it will need to be created. Simply click on
Manage
, then put in the branch label without quotes, orbaseline
for a branchless movie, then click onCreate
. Afterwards, select the newly created branch, then click onSave
. - The Additional Sync notes field has a textual explanation of what they usually contain.
- After you've cataloged the game and the emulator, it's a perfect time to indicate that you've verified sync on this submission, because it helps judges a lot! Click the Sync verified checkbox and then the
Save
button.- If you're one of the authors of the submission, and you've cataloged it, please don't tick the Sync verified checkbox. It sure syncs for you if you've made it, but the purpose of sync verification is ensuring it syncs for other people who may have a different setup. Because figuring out what setup is required for sync is the goal here. However, if it's a very old submission of yours and your setup is different now, verifying sync from scratch by at least someone is still better than if nobody does it.
Publication
Similar to submission catalog page, but doesn't have the sync verification checkbox and sync notes, because the submission has already been synced in order to proceed with the publication.
Userfile and thread
These only have fields for system and game, because they may represent all kinds of versions, goals, emulators, etc.
