This TAS is 105 frames faster than the previous TAS due to mixing in the third room instead of the first, which allows for better movement and lag reduction in all 3 rooms.

About the run

  • Aims for fastest completion
  • Takes damage to save time
  • Manipulates luck
  • Warps to the credits
  • Genre: Platformer

Room 1

Deciding not to mix in this room allows Kirby to carry the speed from the slide through nearly the entire room, and destroying enemies by leveraging invincibility frames helps to reduce lag.

Room 2

Inhaling and exhaling to destroy enemies reduces lag, and not having Stone yet allows Kirby to inhale the Bronto Burt instead of floating, which would be significantly slower.

Room 3

Destroying the Poppy Bros. Jr. and Waddle Dee reduces lag, and setting up the mix below a ledge allows Kirby to slide into the mix, letting him move to the right a significant amount while inhaling.
Jumping for one frame with the right X subpixel and speed allows Kirby to clip through slopes, and entering the water from the side permits the usage of Stone underwater, which crashes the game. Pausing on the same frame the game crashes can - rarely - take Kirby to the credits, finishing the game in well under a minute.

Darkman425: Claiming for judging.
Darkman425: Both the submission text and video commentary helped out a lot with highlighting where time was saved and where lag was reduced. I'm surprised how much of a relatively large time save this TAS has over the older publication. It's always cool to see a new set of eyes finding improvements in old runs, especially if it's a rerouting of room movements and when to use mix. Nice work, and congratulations on improving on a nearly 8 year old publication!
Accepting to Standard.
Spikestuff: Poyo~!
Darkman425: Setting the submission to Delayed upon the author's request as they seek further improvements.
Darkman425: The author has finished seeking improvements and the input file has been replaced with a 24 frame improvement. Setting this back to accepted.
