Deadly Evil is a simple platformer for ZX Spectrum released in 1990.
If loading time causes desync try to add blank frames to the beginning of the movie. This TAS will press "3" at frame 15860 to start the game.

Game objectives

  • Emulator used: BizHawk 2.9.1
  • Core: ZXSpectrum128Plus2A
  • Aims for fastest time
  • Takes damage to save time
This is also a pacifist run by necessity. Attacking wastes time so zero attacks are done even though the game has a surprising variety of moves: normal strike, high strike, low strike, backstab and kick.

Stage 1, The Forest

Collect 6 pieces of paper to exit the stage. Jumping and running are equally fast, but jumping avoids the skeleton attacks. There is a teleporting mage who shoots magic missiles, but we have enough health that no frames are lost to dodging any attacks.

Stage 2, The Palace

The guards are a deadlier version of the skeletons, but jumping avoids their sword strikes. The pink rhinos that shoot fireballs can do lots of damage but Spartacus has just enough health that no frames are lost to dodging.
After the princess is rescued she follows Spartacus while the guards try to kill her. Spartacus moves fast so the princess follows him offscreen and the guards can never attack her. The last jump can end input early by a few frames.
The end screen says:
YOU ARE A HERO SPARTACUS
IN RESCUING THE EMPORERS
DAUGHTER YOU HAVE GAINED
BOTH GLORY AND HONOR
YOU WILL BE REMEMBERED FOREVER

nymx: Claiming for judging.
nymx: This movie is straight forward. The tactics of avoiding damage does a great deal to stay the course and finish it in record time. I don't see any problems here. Good job.
Accepting.
