Clockwork Knight was one of the launch titles for the Sega Saturn in the US, it was essentially a tech demo for what the Saturn could do. Much like Toy Story, the story features toys that come to life, but only when the princess sings to them, but now the princess has been captured, and it's up to our main character to rescue her.

Game objectives

  • Emulator used: Bizhawk 2.4.2
  • takes damage to save time
  • heavy glitch abuse

this is a 1108 frame improvement to my last movie. There are only 2 levels that were improved, one of them was 4-1 where a different route was found that ended up being 2 seconds faster. The Bigger timesave comes from the world 2 boss improvement. I really hated how I did that boss and wondered why I didnt just kill it in the first cycle. Turns out I had no idea what I was doing so I improved it by 18 seconds.
most of these comments are copy and pasted from the old one.

Stage by stage comments

1-1

nothing has changed in this level, just reach the end without stopping

1-2

Some levels have secret endings, which are faster not only because they're closer, but because you dont get that ending jingle as well.

1-3

The way this boss dies is one of the stupidest things I've ever seen. I had somehow did a double hit on the last hit of the baby head, which caused the stage to end early. I am not sure how this was achieved and it's very specifically executed. I just got extremely lucky with me finding this.

2-1

not much changed here, about 2 or 3 frames were saved near the end

2-2

You do not have to ride the train in this level as you can jump on each platform and make it across, al tough it's really hard.
near the middle where the white tokens are seen, I have to avoid collecting more than 4 as that triggers a bonus level at the end of each world.

2-3

For this boss instead of doing whatever the heck I did previously, I used the glitch that allows you to give damage to the boss without destroying your obstacle in the process, dubbed the "infinite footballer glitch".

3-1

I found that if you jump as you grab an item, you can get back to full speed. normally you would slow down slightly if you picked up an object, but jumping would prevent that slowdown.

3-2

nothing changed

3-3

so instead of making this boss do its attack phase, I figured it would be faster to keep using the same glitch I used before until it was dead. I tried to do the glitch on the first attack phase but it was a pain to deal with because the pot's hitbox would keep you from staying in one place.

4-1

a new route change allows me to skip some of the level by going into a bonus area. the way to get to it is by using a spring to jump over a wall, then enter the box and leave in the next box.
just like the last movie, there's a trick where I can use a bomb to clip into a ceiling to skip a cycle.
I also found if you grind your head on the falling ceiling at the end, you can get a slight boost forward.

4-2

nothing changed here, the key is located on the ceiling so we do that to get to the secret exit.

4-3

Edit: MAJOR SEIZURE WARNING AT THE END OF THE FIGHT. I’d like to ask whoever publishes this to add a seizure warning in the description or something.
instead of throwing the head to repeatedly bounce on the boss, I instead threw the head from the bottom as much as I could. I still do the glitch where I can get some early hits by jumping up and standing on an invisible platform

Final Boss
