TAS optimized to obtain both the best possible performance for each event and overall best run considering the previous constraint.

Game objectives

  • Emulator used: BizHawk 1.11.9 for PS1
  • Achieve best performance for each event, and finish the game as fast as possible.
  • Offering the first legit TAS for this un-TASed game and hope it will be beaten soon.

Comments

The game has a in-built autofire detector and prevent you from using brute button mashing. This leads to a more subtile mashing

Stage by stage comments

100m

Pure speed. Forward leaning is useless.

Long jump.

Jump as late as possible, with optimum angle of 47 degrees. Continue to mash in the air. Foul is the fastest for the two last attempts.

Shot Put

Throw as late as possible with an angle of 41 degrees. Stop mashing to accelerate as late as possible. Continue to mash in the air. Foul is the fastest for the two last attempts.

100m Free Style

Mashing buttons until turn. The best turn is frame perfect and avoid decreasing the speed.

110m Hurdle

Mashing the button while jumping relatively early for each hurdle. Forward leaning is usefull for finish.

High Jump

First jump is to set the proper height, the second is the world record. Last one is the fastest possible foul.

Hammer

Release the hammer as late as possible, avoid mashing for 3 frames to sync the release with the latest moment before foul. Two last attempts are foul.

Triple Jump

Only the last jump make the performance. Push X as late as possible with an angle of 45 degrees.

Javelin

Best angle is 44 degrees, continue to mash while in the air.

Pole Vault

First jump sets the altitude as high as possible. Second jump is the world record. It requires to jump it backward. Last jump is a fast foul.

Discus

Avoid mashing for 2 frames to throw it as close as possible to the line.

Other comments

There is room for improvements as this run does not exploit glitches. It appears some RAM adresses change while pushing buttons in the pre-events, so there is probably something to do with it.

Spikestuff: Bios Note: SCPH1001.
