Intro
This is a homebrew game created by Lucas "Dizzy9" Kur. The newest version is 1.4 which can be downloaded [dead link removed]
Pleas read the readme file from the rar file so you understand what is this game without having me describe all the fancy things.
This speedrun completes it on "normal" mode.
Game objectives
- Emulator used: FCEUX 2.2.2
- Aims for fastest shortest input
- Entertains without losing a frame
Normal difficulty?
- Normal:Unlimited lives.No timer.
- Hard:5 lives for start.No timer.You get extra life after every level.Max 9 lives.
- Intense:3 lives for start.Has timer.You get extra life after every world.Max 5 lifes
Since this TAS completes all the levels much faster than the timer and have enough life to complete the game in intense mode (and will sync if you add 4 frames (empty, D, empty, D to 250, 251, 252, 253 in TASEditor) )
Good to know...
Some rules you should know to understand why I did different things on the levels:
- You always need to collect all collectables to open the door
- Vertical arrows can be climbed
- Some levels has timers so you can't change dimension on purpose (World 2 level 1)
Tricks and techniques in chronological appearance
- Getting inside the wall with elevator
- By moving under a wall while riding an elevator, you can optimize your position once you got enough Y position to continue your path. You can combine this with changing dimension to get over the wall you clipped inside for best effect. First example: World 0 - Level 3
- Manipulating duo partner
- On duo levels, you can change dimension anytime opposed to single levels where you can only change dimension when Satoshi (main character of the game) isn't in a wall. This way you can trap your duo partner to get a more feasible Y position. First example: World 0 - Level 5
- Jumping from the pit
- Originally this was a bug but the developer thought this could be a "hidden feature" so you can jump out from death. First example: World 1 - Level 1
- Screen wrapping
- You can go from bottom to top if there's a wall on the last but one row by jumping from bottom to bump to the wall so your Y position will be reduced through bottom and comes back on top. First example: World 1 - Level 5
- Verical arrow boost (ladder)
- Starting to climb and instanty jumping off gives a good vertical boost. Repeat it for better effect. First example: World 2 - Level 1
- Duo jump
- Your duo partner can jump earlier sometimes so this way you can jump with them asynchronously to get faster. Only used in last level.
