Collecting more troops makes them harder to control.
You hypothetically can cycle through the 3 types of units (king, soldier, knights) and then they all move one square in the same direction.
But because of the way the game accepts input you have limited control of all of them at once during a TAS.
The first frame is input for the king, the next frames control the soldier and then the knights after that.
How much control this gives seem to vary randomly through the game, sometimes you can control knights individually, other times soldier will have their input locked to the king.
The enemies will never initiate a fight, but rather just block your path so the only way through is fighting.
Fighting is slow and pretty random.
The RNG seems tied to the kings movements in some unclear fashion.
Stage by stage comments
The other kings castle is 600m away and it has many defenders.
Every 100m is a wall that only your king can break through.
Before each wall is also a POW camp that your knights can break into for some extra soldiers, but it takes a long time.
Every kill gives an attack boost of 10 that caps out ~300, but combat seems much more like a coin flip than something stats meaningfully effect.
Killing three enemies upgrades your soldiers/knights to gold versions and gives them a one time bonus of 90 attack.

Enemies are easy to dodge and don't aggressively pursue.
499-400
Similar to the last, with big trees that the king can clear a path through.
399-300
Here are summoners which sit inside a brick structure.
The bricks turn into ninjas when the king passes and they will charge after him.
They ignore the other troops, so position so they can't block the king's path, then have the blockers catch up.
Killing the summoner in the middle will clear away the ninjas.
299-200
The yellow enemies are much better at blocking the path.
There is likely a strategy to exploit their AI, but I couldn't think of it so I needed a bit of fighting.
199-100
This section is easy like the first two.
099-000
Fighting is needed in the tight corridors of the castle.
I dodge when I can and setup fights out of my walking path when possible.
The yellow guys can be held in place since they always try to go straight for the king and this game has no pathing.
The green guys are weaker to soldiers than knights.
I kill the enemy king with my king because all my closer troops were failing.
