Here's Marble 1. Not too bad but it was definitely more difficult than all 3 Acts of Green Hill Zone. Link to video gmv The map for special stage 3 is looking kinda intimidating right now so I think I'm gonna focus on the S3K run for the time being :p EDIT: As some of you may have noticed I did in fact save 20 frames with 0:53::58 as the new time. No idea where half of that came from but I'm not complaining.

I loved the micro zip at the end, very unexpected.

Glad you enjoyed it :)

I love that zip too. It's the same trick used in the any% run for a different zip. I'm kinda sad that it forced me to the special stage now instead of after Act 2 though.

Have you no mercy? Yeah I'm sorry about that. I actually did try to start the HCZ run but I wasn't really feeling it at the time. But now I'm more than willing to tas it so expect it to be ready within next week. It'll be better than doing Special Stage 3 lol

Remember when I said I can get all the rings in the game? Yeah I overlooked some rings at the end of scrap brain 2. I realized this when I watched the encode for my April Fools submission which is actually kinda funny. Anyways here's the base for the route. I wasn't planning on finalizing it until I got to this level in the run. Link to video There are 3 paths that converge to the end of the level and each of them has a 1 way door. The main problem lies with the 6 rings in the lower path. If I'm gonna collect those along with all the other rings in the level I need to find a way to bypass the door in either the lower or upper path. I'm having difficulty with this though. For one there aren't any solid objects I can use to do a clip. My knowledge with this game is still kinda lacking so I know there are some things I haven't tried. Like possibly deleting one of those doors.

Well, problem solved. Even I'm surprised I was able to do it. Link to video Now I can get all the rings in the game. Pretty sure those 6 were the only ones I overlooked.

In this game, whatever you want to reach, there always is some glitch making it possible, you just may not know it ;)

Yeah I realized that long ago. It's amazing what you can do if you really try. That's why I never stopped looking :) Here's the ring table I made some time ago for those of you who were curious about the ring counts. I'm glad I don't have to add another column because of uncollected rings.

For personal feeling I think will be better if you play the special stages in every first act of the zones, to be less tedious to watch because some people dislike a lot the special stages in this game. It would be like this
GHZ 1 -> SS 1
MZ 1 -> SS 2
SYZ 1 -> SS 3
LZ 1 -> SS 4
SLZ 1 -> SS 5
SBZ 1 -> SS 6

Don't worry I was planning on doing them in Act 2 of every zone (with GHZ and MZ being the 2 exceptions). I wish I could do one of them in SBZ1 but I sadly can't. I'm forced to do 2 in one of the zones. Although I suppose I could move one of the special stages in GHZ to MZ1 and have the double special stage zone be SLZ. Special stage 2 is looking a little sloppy and I really don't wanna have to do the 3rd one in MZ lol

Since the emeralds have no use in this game, is not better leave the SS with the "goal" instead of losing time collecting the emerald? because in some SS you can do that Or you will go for a 100% as secondary goal?

I feel fine with doing the special stages, as kaan55 does there exactly the same as within the normal stages — collects the rings. Rings shouldn’t have a place to escape from a ring attack :)

I'm doing 100% as a secondary goal. It won't cost me too much time to grab the emeralds and it'll give the run a better sense of completion.

I mean yeah. I have to keep feeding Sonic's ring hoarding habits somehow. I decided that I am gonna move one of the special stages in GHZ to MZ1. I want to get the point across that I am gonna spread them out and having 3 of them in a row like this is not the best way to do that like Evil just demonstrated. Here's where I'm gonna do the special stages. SS 1 - GHZ2 SS 2 - MZ1 (can't be changed due to that zip) SS 3 - SYZ2 SS 4 - LZ1 SS 5 - SLZ1 SS 6 - SLZ2

About 100% rings, you have any strategy to Scrap Brain 3? Have two routes and impossible backtracking......except if you know any glitch

I do. I even made a gmv of me getting all 168 rings. How I did it I will leave as a surprise for now. I will tell you that I used slope glitch. Trust me I've accounted for all the rings in the game. Now it's just a matter of tasing it.

Well I removed the special stage in GHZ1 and improved special stage 2 by 619 frames. I'm glad I don't have to do special stage 3 until after SYZ2 Link to video I do not wanna have to rearrange the special stages again. Apparently the movement of the batbrains MZ is random and I don't really know how to manipulate. Thankfully extending one of the animal manipulation pauses in GHZ3 by a frame (I would've lost several more otherwise) got MZ1 to sync again.

I felt like doing some more Sonic 1 so here's Marble 2. It was slightly more difficult than Act 1 but still relatively simple to make. gmv Link to video I should note that the rerecords for this level and (possibly special stage 2 v2) are missing. The gmv got corrupted after I was done with MZ2 so I had to load one of the savestates in a previous version of the gmv to recover the inputs.

Here's Spring Yard 1. I had to do some precise positioning in some areas but it was still overall simplistic and actually a bit shorter than I expected. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/640014493/Sonic%201%20Ring%20Attack.gmv Link to video

For my eyes looks more faster if you take the lower path with the speed shoes first and backtrack because you lost 9 seconds in the platforms, you tried that? The rest of the levels looks amazing.

Thanks :) Yeah I tried it. I couldn't make much use out of the speed shoes on the bottom path because of all the hazards and backtracking from there is much slower. Especially since the speed shoes ran out before I started going back. Plus getting back up top using the platform costs 4-5 seconds, and then I'd lose even more time on the top path due to the absence of speed shoes. I just decided this was overall better despite having to wait for those platforms.

We could improve GHZ3 to finish in 29 seconds, we'll lose real-time seconds due to the longer score tally, but we're still aiming for in-game time. We can have a TAS of this with a score over 900,000 points. BizHawk may be near perfect accuracy, but Gens is still preferred for Sonic TASes despite what the speedrunning community says.

Can explain the "accuracy" differences between Gens and Bizhawk in a genesis Sonic game please? Besides of that, we need someone to port STT to biz before and there are a few tasers that are on Linux afaik, they can't use bizhawk And stop telling us that bizhawk > gens, please, seriously, we know, someday we will, It makes me sick to be reminded every 5 minutes

For Sonic games, this is mostly timing and the fact that Gens did not emulate address errors. Timing comes from timing of some instructions being slightly wrong, as well as DMA speed being slightly off. This can cause differences in lag in gens vs real hardware. It can also remove some edge cases that happen in real hardware (such as the crash you can get in LZ1 if you roll at the end of the level). There are more inaccuracies in Gens, but they are not relevant for Sonic games. The non-emulation of address errors may cause the game to keep running ina glitched state instead of crashing. This is relevant for any ACE glitch. But to be honest, BizHawk does not have perfect timing either, so some things are wrong on it compared to real hardware as well.

Thank you buddy, is nice to know the emulation differences between both emulators
