I'm back to Tetra Master and I still need help with optimizing this.
I want every card that fight to upgrade to X first then to A.
I know for sure, that this is not RNG related as the RNG doesn't move but it's depending on the frame the cards fight.
I have a script that try every frame until a card upgrade but it takes a really long time and doesn't guarantee that the game will be optimal.
So if somebody with assembly knowledge could take a look at that so I can find which frame works without testing every single one.
So for an upgrade from M or P to X we want the following addresses to become 2, and from X to A to become 3.
Opponent cards status during the game :
0x1ffb1f
0x1ffb5b
0x1ffb97
0x1ffbd3
0x1ffc0f
Player cards status during the game :
0x1ff9f3
0x1ffa2f
0x1ffa6b
0x1ffaa7
0x1ffae3
Thanks in advance.
Just to know, what is the meaning of "Odds of Encounter" ? Is it the odds for a normal player to have a fight from the beginning of the screen to the current point ? Or the odds of having a fight on the next encounter check ? Or something else ?
And good luck with Tetra Master, let's hope someone may be able to help you.
Finally caught up on this. Script looks great Gecko; nice work. Now I know what the script actually looks like I'll try to think of any other comments or questions that you could answer for the up coming disks to include in it.
One quick question for the current wip for now though; why did the Gigan Toads (for the Frog Drop learning) have different max hp totals?
Good luck with the cards stuff. I assume you're at Treno card tourney?
Oh didn't even think of that when I wrote "Odds of encounter". It's actually the odds of getting an encounter on that particular Encounter check.
Some places like in the Iifa Tree or getting back through the axes in Fossil Roo reach more than 70% per encounter checks making it virtually impossible to do for a RTA runner and hard but doable under TAS condition.
Honestly I have no idea about the Gigan Toad.
I'm quite satisfied with the Treno Card Tournament, but I'm pretty sure it can be better. As the RNG is frozen during cards game, if somebody come to provide help in the future, it should be hex-editable easily.
Finally, I've killed Tantarian and caught back with where I left.
Good news. I'm 12 minutes ahead of the gamefaqs guide even with all the sidequests after 7 hours.
Oh wow! I was a touch concerned myself from the slight lack of updates, but hearing you're a good chunk through Terra is great news. Especially from, what I recall, disc 3 is where your 100% objectives really come into play. Damn near doubly so on the combined route. Hope Choco didn't give you too much trouble; but I guess after seeing Disc1 I can't be to worried about that over grown, and now shiny, bird.
Little update. Disc 3 was completed until I watched it again and figured I missed a letter around the 7h mark that I was 95% sure I gave. I probably delivered it, came back a little before to optimized stuff and forgot to deliver it again.
Not too bad though as I can catch up the RNG moments later, but I have to resync 3h30 of TAS.
Currently resynced it up to Ipsen castle, expect a Disc 3 in a couple weeks so.
Ha, had just come here to see if I could pester you into getting a update.
Not the greatest news, but happy to see you getting straight back to fixing it.
What time did you finish the disk on first time through? And any news on that disc 2 with commentary upload you were working on a little back?
Can't check right now, but from the top of my head, disc 3 end between 10h35 and 10h40.
The commentaries for disc 2 are done since a long long time ago, but I never got to encode it. But since you guys are my number one followers, I'll stop disc 3 for now and make that encode :)
It's only at 34% right now.
I have to stop uploading when I go to sleep and resume it in the morning.
It's still about 45h left of uploading so I'd say it would be available in 3-4 days.
Enlightening as ever Gecko.
Was surprised your Gargan Roo odds of encounter were as low as they were with my memories of the place, despite its tiny size.
I get it with the woods on the way to the Black Mage Village, but any idea why in Fossil Roo the odds of encounter don't reset between those three screens? I assume it had something to do with Armodullahan chasing you through those screens?
Didn't realise Beatrix was so close to not nailing the 1HKO against those two Bandersnatches in that first fight you have with her.
Your trip to the second Qu marsh, and leaving with only 12 frogs total so far in to the run makes me wonder about the Frog route. Grabbing the Blue Narciss/Airship going to quickly lead to a marshes world tour so they get repopulated (twice?) soon enough after doing everything else?
Shame that 'cards out of nowhere' inbetween all the Gargant ridding didn't survive in this version, as I thought that was neat, but at least disk 3 and Zidane in Treno isn't far off to make up for that. How is the redo of the new disc going?
That would be my guess too. Being chase by Armodullahan makes the game consider it like one big giant screen.
There is actually 4 outcomes. 864, 900, 936, 972. Only 3 of them are good enough. (not sure, will verify it when I get back home)
Indeed. Frogs are caught as soon as possible. I finished my test run of Disc 3 with 45 frogs. So at the start of Disc 4 I can caught 6*4 for a total of 69. Then after Excalibur II I can take all the frogs from every marsh so 8*4 for 101 frogs.
Ugh, I thought this was too strange and people wouldn't understand why here and now.
Well I found a big improvment (more than a minute) around the 8 hours mark. I could ignore it and continue but the perfectionnist in me doesn't like that. So I'm gonna take my run as a testrun and redo it. Some other things I didn't like so it's a good opportunity to change them.
Unfortunately my Shell Dragon fight was very good and it's a real pain to TAS it, so I hope lady Luck will be on my side when it'll be time to fight it again.
Nice, sounds like the timings and your route come together very neatly.
A shame, but I can understand the feeling to get it done right first time if you have the motivation for a redo. What was the big error you found?
A small question regarding the route; do you need to go into the Tantulus hideout on disc2 for its treasure chests considering you have to go back during the Nero family nonsense during Memoria?
Do you mind posting the input file for your now 'testrun' so we can see how disc 3 went?
Best of luck on version 2!
The odds in Fossil Roo are so stupid, thanks to your HUP it's more than clear why some parts of the game just cannot be done the same way by RTA runners.
Oh wow, I swung by to leech some expertise, I had no idea there was a 100% TAS going on. Gecko, you are a wonderful person and I wish you the best of luck, super looking forward to the submission! \o/
But yes, I came here hoping some incredibly smart people could help me and other challenge runners out. I'm hoping to get some juicy details about Meltigemini's AI script. I'm doing a L1 challenge run and I have a setup which can kill him in three turns (Cheesy damage skills like limit glove/Thievery are also banned), but Viral Smoke happens within the first two turns every time, and I'm pretty sure his AI takes reflect into account, so that he doesn't cast bio when everyone has reflect.
But with 6 minutes of cutscenes per attempt (Playing on real hardware. PAL no less. >_>), I've only tried about 25-30 times, and I can't be sure if it's all just bad luck.
Is there any set turn order for Meltigemini, or target checking for reflect? Sorry if this is a tad off-topic, but I couldn't think of anywhere else that would have the means to get this info.
Thanks a bundle for any replies, and best of luck manipulation for your TAS! \o/
