Synx, this may not be your intent, but you're sounding very demanding of the TASer here. If you're unwilling or unable to watch the input file, then about all you can do is politely ask others to help you watch the progress. You don't need an encode; you would like an encode. Being demanding, even if unintentionally so, just encourages the TASer to keep quiet about progress, since all that happens when he does make a progress report is he gets leapt on by a bunch of (apparent) leeches. We've definitely had that problem in the past. So please, for all our sakes, be polite. :)

Hm, when I use this version of the emu, it doesn't seem to render the game (I can hear it in the background though, and I can hear it do the select file screen), just leaves me with a black screen. The other versions of mupen I tried desynched upon entering Clocktown Any ideas? EDIT: nevermind now it decided to actually render the game, wonder what it was EDIT2: But it still desyncs, guess I'll just wait for encode

To clearify: Captain Forehead was unable to watch it and evilchen said he wished he could watch it. A youtube/avi would likely make both + me & maybe others too able to entertain ourself with the run. I am not demanding anything. If "the TAS-er" doesn't want to show his progress then of course he doesn't have to. What I meant by "Us normal people needs an avi/youtube" was that if we are to see this WIP then it needs to be encoded. Not that we needed it as a matter of life or death... However, if you can watch it without an encode then good for you =) If I sounded demanding or impolite I apologize. My intent was to be suggestive and helpfull. I would also like to add that "the TAS-er" in this case is MrGrunz who I have learned to count on to upload lots of great TAS-stuff to youtube. And what you probably mistook for demand was my expectations that he would do so once again.

Okay, I apologize for misreading your statement. Thanks for clarifying.

http://rapidshare.com/files/273374957/MrGrunz.MM.Any.Wip.avi There you go sorry for the Kaspersky-annotations, I forgot to turn them off. There should be "only" 2 of them, if I remember correctly

Fantastic WIP MrGrunz, some very crafty and unexpected things. One comment I'd like to note is while you use angled backwalking in certain parts of the run you fail to use the diagonal backwalking trick which allows for faster acceleration at the start of backwalks. It also allows you to backwalk with greater precision allowing you to save 3-12 frames for every backwalk. Don't forget it also applies after you perform a backflip as well.

Wow, that was a fantastic WIP, I loved every second of it. I hope you are kind enough to treat us to more as you progress. P.S. I noticed that you viewed the Deku transformation before rescuing the monkey, this is unnecessary. If you put on a transformation mask for the first time while wearing another transformation mask the small cutscene can be skipped. It may save a little time, but you'd need to shake around the item planning a little.

Man, I'd forgotten just how much of MM's early stages is cutscenes. Blagh. The actual gameplay was fantastic, though. Nice work!

Thanks, Phallosvogel. This is a great run so far, and very entertaining. The only concern I have is the low health warning beeps. How long is that going to go on?

I really don't think Grunz had an encode in mind when he uploaded his WIP. Those get into the wrong hands way to quickly and before you know it's plastered all over youtube. So please penisbird take it down until Grunz comes back from vacation and can comment on it himself.

Oh so that's the skipped cutscene Soulcal was talking about in his any% run. But I don't think that it would help in this case. It would ad some swaping around of items, since he needs bombs next and putting on the Zora mask. I think it would be about even in the end.

That was my idea. ^^

near frame ~90 000, you have to wait a little while for the bomb marchant come... do you think that you could do a little dance there, while waiting?
First of all you can't move with the textbox open, but even if you could: The Bombshop (along with Fairy Fountains, swamp and GBT) is desynch central. So you count your blessings if you made it perfectly through and don't start messing around in it.

About 10 more seconds. ;) He is going to drop a few frames and get the fairy in the pots next to the owl statue (the only speed-entertainment tradeoff in the whole run).

Argh sag nicht diesen Namen! *Rocko miem* :D It's just MM is a really high profile run and if Grunz wanted for it to end up on youtube he would have uploaded it himself. I mean this is a public forum, everybody can lurk here. Thanks for taking it down until he comes back and can say for himself what he thinks about it. Btw. what graphics plugin did you use? That's not Jabos 1.6.

thanks for all the positive statements from all of you guys :) as long as you do not upload encode to youtube, you can create one, so everyone can watch it

hmm, you know, MM has quick backwalking, what allows me to get immediately into backwalking animation after changing the angle unlike OoT ;) swordless link did the whole first cycle and never used it, so I'm pretty sure, that the sideways walking thing saves no frames in MM. but when I come home, I'll do a few tests to be 100% sure, wheter it saves frames or not

Can't get it to synch up for the life of me, and the .avi has been taken down. Any chance for a re-upload of the latest WIP?
