While it would obviously not be publishable, I can't help but wonder what a run with infinite bombs/bombchu cheats would look like. Maybe a cheat to shorten the bomb timer too, if that's possible.

Acheron: like the Super Metroid hacks that reduce the bomb timer to nothing? Yeah, that could be pretty interesting. Superflip all over the place...

for MM, it wouldn't look so much different, we would only do less trips to the bomb shop and some other small changes

Oh, right, backwalking is faster than bomb-initiated slides, isn't it? There goes that idea. I guess it'd be shooting to entertain, not for fastest time, and that's a whole different thing altogether. I do think both MM and OoT have a lot of playaround potential, though.

Funny you mention that... there's also a "boost ball" item hack that allows ridiculously fast speed-trips through the game. Bundle it and the insta-bomb timer into a regular run of SM and we'd have a very fun run. But that's a discussion for another thread...

Wait what? No SS and HISS are a lot faster than backwalking. Why do you think it's used so much? See here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9iYjxz5DOiI&fmt=18 And ofcourse faster bomb timers would make some slides faster, but then we would have problems in other places. We probably wouldn't have enough time to activate ISG or build staircases, etc. Infinite number of bombs and chus also wouldn't make the run that much faster. We buy only 3 times and at some points we even have problems to use up all those explosives. Ofcourse with infinite Chus we could replace mega flips with normal hovers again, which are slightly faster, but it still wouldn't warrent an extra "hacked run" I can't see more than 5 minutes improvement comming from it all in all.

Could've sworn I read that somewhere in this thread, but now that I look for it I can't find it. I guess I'm losing it...

MrGrunz, the GBT run was very cool. Only one minor question: Would it be possible to use two bombchu hovers and then a superflip when crossing the first gap to be able to maintain an ISS after landing, making the travel time to the Out of Bounds spot somewhat shorter? Also I think it's pretty cool that you have basically the entire game TAS'ed now (all the temples and Pirate's Fortress) I'm sure if you take up the game time run you'll do great.

You probably read in the OoT-thread that damage-ISS is slower than backwalking or sidehopping, which it is. That's why we are not using it. There are a lot of super slides: normal SS: has the fastest speed that can be gained in the game (I believe it was 27), but you can't turn corners or use items while doing it. ISS: it can be gained from multiple sources. The fastest ISS you'll get comes out of a normal SS, the second fastest from a mega flip and slowest from damage. And that damage ISS is slower than backwalking or sidehopping. With an ISS you can turn corners and whip out items while sliding. HISS: Was discovered pretty recently. You get the speed of a normal SS, as you start it directly from an explosive, but also all the nice things of an ISS, like using items or turning corners. HISS will work only out of water in OoT but works everywhere in MM. Another nice thing about it is that for a normal SS you need something you can pick up, a HISS doesn't need that.

Yeah nobody is doing the TAS anymore. Swordless has given up and Grunz is too deep in OoT to take over...

I don't think any one of the two is going to pick it up again and there aren't any 3D-Zelda-TASers left, so unless someone completely new comes foreward and takes over I guess we will never see a new MM-TAS.

Having no upcoming MM TAS, after everything that's been discovered, is a real letdown, but I can hardly blame Swordless or anyone else for not wanting to tackle it. Swordless especially has probably seen the first cycle of this game far more than anyone ever should. Is there any singular compiled source of the TAS tricks and skills and MM breaks that've been found? It would go a long way towards encouraging new blood to take on these games... and sifting through over 100 pages reads like a big sign that says "run away."

I guess any of the most knowledgable guys here would certainly support anybody who seriously decided to run the game over irc etc.

not that I want to brag, but 99% of the new tricks are discovered by me, so they are on my youtube channel: www.youtube.com/mrgrunz I decided to go on with the TAS, so there will be a MM TAS. I made some good progress and I'm at mikau now

http://zeldaspeedrun.dreamhosters.com/mm/ Still under construction though. Anybody can help building this thing, so if any of you know about glitches or SBs you can write pages. It would be really apreciated.
