You should really be using glide64 instead of gln64 since i don't think it is recommended for this game like in oot. Specifically for the motion blur.. should get rid of what you are describing but i can't view it because it desyncs at the jump at the very beginning (which is likely a corrupted savestate..).

Petrie, can you please repost the latest version of the route?

A lot of this route seems really ambitious. Are you sure that you can gain access to Stone Tower Temple with just the bomb hover?

it would take a lot of bombs, most likely replenishing on the way, but theoretically yes, since all vertical/horizontal restrictions could be bypassed. I looked at a few youtube vids of people trying to find the right spots to bomb hover, and using item in a bottle to activate the swtiches, some successful, most not.

No, I'm not sure. In fact, if there's any oversight in the route, such as the one you just suggested, the runner may end up having to restart from scratch.

As I was watching Petrie's awesome vids of doing Stone Tower, his latest of hitting the stone with the light arrow through like 3 solid objects was great. I looked at his bomb/bombchu count, and since he has upgraded bags for both (I think?) he had somewhere close to 30-40 for each, I think that's more than enough for stone tower. One thing I've noted is that bomb hovering is WAY faster in MM than it is in OoT because of much less lag, makes for faster/more entertaining bomb hovers.

The proposed route doesn't get any bigger sized bomb bags. The route also has Link entering Stone Tower with only 20 bombchus and 10 bombs, which is very suspect. To get a bomb expansion, he would have to be in Clock Town at midnight of the first day, and he would need money to buy the bag. However, I would like to see if the Blast Mask can be used for Bomb Hover Staircases. It refreshes every 15 seconds, and the blast can be blocked, so it seems like it might work. Any testers?

The very hour the bomb hover was discovered, I suggested using the blast mask. Unfortunately, nobody got it to work.

I think the fastest bomb upgrade to get would be to get the bomb bag in Mountain Village.

Don't you need to lvl2 Bomb Bag or 500 rupees to do this?

It's actually 1000 rupees. You can't get it at all without the lvl2 bomb bag.

FYI, the max amount of rupees you can carry is 500.

Yeah, that's why I said you can't get it at all without the lvl2 bomb bag.

I think we should look into skipping the magic meter. While we lose the bubbles and the magic sword spins, we skip having to get it and get infinite magic for the rest of the game. Now, as far as how to skip it, we need to somehow get out of Deku form. After that, simply throw a bomb at Skull Kid to get the Ocarina. However, there is currently no known way to get out of Deku form without the Deku Mask. Of course, there is no known way of doing anything until a way is discovered... I'd say the first place to look is cutscenes that force you from one form to another. Anyone know of any? Lastly, is there a way to convert PJ64 save states into Mupen64 states?

Can you use Fire Arrows/Goron Spike/any magical attacks without a magic meter? I highly doubt you're going to find a way to get out of Deku Form in the first cycle. Granted, there may be a way, but I really seriously doubt it. Also, no, you can't convert savestates.

As I said earlier, I can't see this happening, petrie. To return to human form, you'll need to get a transformation mask while in Deku form. Both of the Goron and Zora Masks are off-limits as a Deku. (Some of the gaps between the invisible platforms leading to the Lens of Truth are far too wide for a Deku.)

Actually, you can get across all of the invisible Ice platforms as a Deku. The problem is that the Goron Mask requires the Song of Healing. You also forget Boss warps, which remove any transformation you have. Unfortunately you can't get to any of them in the first cycle, but similar things may exist. For example, what about the warp at the end of the Deku Scrub race? I realize it's also inaccessible at the moment, but it will be if we find a way for Deku Link only to get past the octos. Basically, any cutscene that forces your shape can be used here. Unfortunately, there don't seem to be many convenient ones. Just the 4 boss warps and the Song of Healing learning scene. Oh, and Zurreco, if you don't have the magic meter, it acts like you have infinite magic. All magic things work with infinite capacity except bubbles and sword spins, which don't work at all. There must be a way. There's been a way fro everything else...

Sword spins are important in this game, as they deal twice a weapon's base damage. I really don't think this would save any time at all. You need the other masks and regular Link to complete the dungeons efficiently, and the Deku Butler race takes way too long. Any time saved by not having a magic meter would be outweighed by the length of the race. Are you reconsidering running the game?

Well, I suppose there is no timely way to do it. Still, any way would be worthwhile for low% or least game time. And jumpslashes are just as good as sword spins when timed right. And no, I'm still not going to. Aside from the inordinate amount of trouble with desyncs MM seems to have, deep down, I just don't really want to. Sorry.

Let's worry about any% before we even talk about a low% or 100%... I believe jumpslashes are a bit slower than quickspins.

They are slower. plus quickspins carry damage just like jumpslashes would ( i think?), so no reason to use only jumplshases vs. quickspins.

I believe crouch stab damage storing was removed in MM; i certainly don't remember seeing any in the SDA run, nor in Petrie's descriptions of his TAS test runs
