Could someone please encode an AVI of the latest WIP? Mupen is horrible on my computer, and I'm plagued with 50 error messages a minute, plus it's running about 5 FPS slow, which screws up the sound.
i had made a video, and i uploaded it to rapidshare, but it was just to send to 1 person so i lost the link -_- is there any way to search in rapidshare?

all quests start from beggining... the difference is the HP change, and now that kicks demonstration you mentioned. (which is available at the options screen)

shakespeare, why would that be desired? the tool is for editing, not creating. Of course, you can create from there, but why not create in the game then copy it on the editor?

the most time-taking issue about tasing mario 64 is the precision. it's really hard to get the right angles and such... not so much the routes.

yea, not sure why. i did that with frame advance.. about BagOfMagicFood's post: my plan is to do the 16 star run after this. i don't think i would remake the 120 star run... already spending 1 year of my life on it.

well i need to finish it someday, and also, it wouldn't make sense to squeeze a lot on the second half of the movie since the first half is far from perfect either. I must keep a certain quality ratio throughout the whole thing. when i made the LLL part, i made a savestate at the start of it. Then i loaded the speedrun video and loaded that savestate (which was not from that movie). It synced for about 3 stars, untill the 100 coin star: the blue coin had a different ramdomness. So i don't think it's a possibility to remake the first levels and then hex-edit it in. www.sm64.com fastest star times Lethal Lava Land Boil the Big Bully 0:22 Bully the Bullies 0:40 8-coin Puzzle with 15 pieces 0:16 Red-Hot Log Rolling 0:14 Hot-Foot-It into the Volcano 0:44 Elevator tour in the Volcano 0:33 100-coin star - ok, now i see this star times competition. what is the point of this redundancy? http://www.student.cs.uwaterloo.ca/~cbright/sm64/startimescomp.html errr... ok now i see, those are HIS fastest times.

1) After getting the 2nd MIPS star you jump and push the stick forward. It is faster to do a circle instead of changing your direction directly 180 degrees (like you do inside the pyramid when you fall down and turn around to the blue switch, on the square where the blue coins appear).
Do you mean the first MIPS? it was just to get a screenshot for the movie published. Mario's face mixed with the star.

2)In the Talons of the Big Bird you get all the way up the pillar and then down to long jump. You can long jump if you go to the left of the pillar on your way up.
didn't know about that. yes it must be faster. But then it would be done by starting to go up the pilar a little more to the left, because I can't change directions after I stepped on it.
FILIM0NAS wrote:
Except that, you can press A to make Mario spin faster.
never knew about that either. what does this do? like jammer said, is it so i can stay in the air longer? that'd be bad
FILIM0NAS wrote:
3) You can leave the shell some frames earlier and long jump while you press Z, instead of waiting to stand up.
humm, yea that'd work too. good point

The LLL was JUST GREAT! I really liked the lavafall. I've tried this trick in real time, but never actually made it without dying. Good job here. In your real time 100 coin star, you use the same route I use for the record on sm64. It seems we think the same way. ;)
but why is there no record there then? it's blank. thanks for comments, it will help the next version, although i don't know if anyone would have the patience to redo this. Or maybe it can go on a 70 star run.

Already done almost all of LLL. I'm doing the elevator tour but i think i'm getting to the star faster by going up the lavafall again (like in the other volcano star i did before this). Going by elevator is almost faster (30 frames slower so far). If only i could get this triple jump over the fire spitting block and up to the floating plataforms where the star is... but i'm a few inches away edit: ok i got it 20 frames faster than going up the lavafall (but i still go up the lavafall on the other star + 100 coin) here, 64 stars: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1167/SUPER%20MARIO%2064%20%28USA%29%20-%20FODA%20-%20120%20stars%20-%20v115.m64

Here is Shifting Sand Land completed. I am posting the WIP but i don't plan to remake anything, it's too frustrating to remake since this is taking so long to make already. http://rapidshare.de/files/20796411/supermario64-foda-120stars-wip-v111.zip.html Savestate at the start of bowser in the fire sea: http://rapidshare.de/files/20799598/Super_Mario_64__U_____.zip.html I remade everything from the last red coin in bowser in the fire sea. The 8 red coins star is slower than the speedrun record because he had the triple jump powerup and he had the cannon open already. I don't open the cannon in this stage at all. Also, after SSL you'll see a speedrun of each star of LLL. I made it playing at 100% speed and saving only at the white screen after picking the star name, and playing my my dualshock psx gamepad. Just for fun, of course it isn't part of the run, but it goes here on this WIP anyway. The last 2 stars "100 coin" and "elevator tour in the volcano" seem to be world records, if www.sm64.com is the only place to be taken into consideration. I don't know if they would accept this emulator video for those star times, but i could try it on my n64. Problem is my graphics card can't capture video, so i'd have to do a "screener" of myself playing using my digital camera. Also, my n64 controller's analog stick is kinda loose...

I think a simple "meet" is pointless. you need to arrange some sort of event, like a Nesvideos Mario Kart tournament. Then people would be more interested in joining.

What i understood is that the PS3 controller will have tilt sensitivity, as well as acceleration based motion detection (not absolute space position like the Wii). But maybe i misread, and it will have only the tilting sensors (no movement detection) I'm not that much interested in realistic games (to pay 600$ for it). The visual quality achieved on the Wii seems to be pretty good enough to back up the fun in the new gameplay system.

The controller seems to be so intuitive that i don't think it'll take more than 10 minutes to get hooked up
