I was thinking about this especifically for those super fx games on SNES. Star fox, stunt race fx and vortex. I was wondering if we could get them in high-res and 30 fps, because I played such a thing on Wii's wario ware and I was not happy that it only had 2 levels.

Nice movie, yes vote. There were a lot of stretegies I didn't know, so maybe I missed watching some of the latest movies, or maybe they're a lot different. A good watch nonetheless.
And I vote for collective knowledge instead of stupid competition. Share what you know, that's what the boards and this site are for. Competition goes in other sites.

I think 99,999% of the human beings on this planet think n64 games and below are incredibly bad graphics, so graphics really don't matter.
To tell you the truth, I only enjoy TASes in two cases:
1 - a TAS of a game I enjoy
2 - a TAS that exploits an unexpected glitch, even for a game I'm not very fond of.
For atari games, I think the second cathegory is hard to happen, with very few exceptions. But on the first one, I am very interested to see how far does Seaquest go, for example, in terms of insane difficulty. You can progress through the difficulty levels very quickly. In River Raid you can go farther than anyone has ever gone, by avoiding getting points. This would make an extremely long video, but it would be interesting for enthusiastics.
I think it all comes down to this, how many enthusiastics are there. We know for a fact that NES has more fans than atari 2600, so that may be what's holding back interest in working on this system...

I've tried to talk people into adding re-recording to an atari 2600 emulator, but no programmer is interested, and there also doesn't seem to be interest to support atari 2600 runs in this website. Shame!

The issue here is the gameplay. If megaman 9 has 8 bits graphics and sounds, but is meant to play only once, watch 30 minutes cutscenes, and be very easy, then it will be like a new game with ugly graphics.
On the other hand, if it had WELL thought levels, gameplay that is designed to be fun, responsive and precise, current technology graphics, no cutscene longer than a few seconds and quickly skippable, and challenging difficulty, it would be a great game.
But it would also be expensive to develop. Imagine having to work on the graphics AND refined levels, gameplay and difficulty? They generally don't do that anymore, with very few exceptions because people just don't play these types of games so much, people play once and then forget it. How many times have we played our old games?
And here is where Capcom's strategy comes: Megaman 9 has already won. I think that different is good, but even for some games (the excellent Rez for the Dreamcast comes to mind) just being different doesn't make a hit. It was a very fortunate decision for them to make megaman 9 like this. It will sell because it's not just a game, it evokes issues regarding gameplay and what defines games themselves. Therefore it's very interesting for many people. And since it's "the first", I want to buy it. Who knows if it becomes a trend? I want Super Mario Bros. 3 part two :)

Spawn glitch? the enemies do spawn there, it's no glitch. And he already did that super wall kick jump with chin on the previous run (so did I in my speedrun). Great movie nonetheless.

Sure watch for me.
The movie looks excellent. There was 1 moment or 2 where I wondered if you couldn't hit the enemy instead of dodging, but overall, a fun watch. yes vote

Oh, and about that key door thing, I remember that once the first key door did open the upper lobby, but it was graphically bugged. So it may be possible to do something about it.

When I did the TAS I could manipulate his dance by entering the pipe differently without wasting time, and the changes were made 5 or maybe 10 frames before the pipe->bowser fade out, so entering the castle differently makes no difference, unless if AFTER you get a good manipulation when entering the castle you STILL have to manipulate it upon entering the pipe. Take my TAS and make a savestate before entering the pipe and test it.

The TAS I had the most fun making was GB Super Mario Land 2 competition, basically because it was a competition!
The TAS I think had the best result was NES battletoads 2p warpless, which is also where I could express the most creativity, due to the auto-scrollers and 2 players action.

Searching for my father's name returns 1 result (no picture, just a list of names). My name is the same as his, + Junior, which results some hits, that are all me and all TAS related (weird).
But there are several matches for the shorter name I've been using... Too many to count.

What about if all the program did was read the tiles output from the emulator and reconstruct it on a higher resolution image, placing each substitute higher res tile on the equivalent position? Is that doable? It would require these things:
- a program that can read the tiles being output by the emulator to the emulator video out
- the program must understand the uniqueness of each tile, so as to use a corresponding tile from a high res library
- the program must output the tiles on a high res screen, on the corresponding position as shown in the emulator output video.
- make the high res graphics for all tiles in the game
What can be done with this:
1 - high res graphics (or pre-rendered 3d graphics)
2 - animated tiles where it used to be static (water surface, for example)
3 - new materials? metal and glass that's actually shiny, tiles that are partly transparent, etc.
4 - especial effects created whenever a particular tile appears or disappears. example when score appears on the screen in super mario bros 3 "100" or "200" can be substituted for something bigger and flashier and animated. This one may be hard or impossible to implement by only reading the tile output data, but can be tested.
I'm thinking super mario bros 3 here, but maybe it can be tested on something simpler like Mario Bros.
It's a lot of work but I'm up to doing all the graphics. Now if anyone is interested in doing the programming or pointing anything I didn't notice that would make it more difficult or impracticable, you're welcome.
edit: Just found this: http://savygamer.blogspot.com/2008/04/sonic-2-hd-fan-remake-on-way.html
The result I want is similar to it
