Wow! it's really easy to jump at the start of a level! just keep holding A before entering it. So, the level 9 start shortcut is possible on a speedrun :) hmm but it is not too usefull becasue the bots start to shoot lasers right after on the helicopter

That's not what I meant by the Castlevania hint. Have neither of you payed any attention at all how to handle "bonuses" or "extras" from it?

because making it as fast as possible is an easy rule to compare movies.

it is implicit that both descriptions are about making the game as fast as possible. note that the first doesnt say anything about people making it fast. but its implicit. edit: no its not implicit, it says time attack and speed run

Yes zurreco, i meant that the sentence can be used to quickly explain it alone. if one needs further explanation he has the resources, but i think the sentence says it all.

Also, on a side note, it is usefull FOR US, timeattackers to remember that we need to make a movie for the game, not to praise OUR skill.

Sorry to bring this up AGAIN, but we know that a short conclusion hasn't been reached yet. Well, i think i came to understand better the difference and came up with a sentence to show it, as a friend of mine told me "i think that what you do with games is wrong". So i told him this, and he got it: "Speedruns are about what people can do. Tool-assited Time-attacks are about what games can do." I think that this quickly explain the purpose of each. One emphasises the skill in people. The other focuses on praising the games in extreme situations. I dont know if this is usefull but it (or some similar description) could be put on the why and how page. Agree? disagree?

like, stay on the rightmost of the screen and try to hit the left of screen. some pins can be on the left corner while you are on the right and still hit

First of all, is there any reason you are using the European rom? it works at a different speed than U and J, so unless you have a good reason, use the U or J instead. Second of all, i dont know what is causing the desync :) Does it desync always when playing the same movie or you try several different movies?

yes, but imagine this you save state 1, then save state 2. if you load state 1, you cant load state 2 because that was saved between saving state #1 and loading state #1

Dont load savestates that were saved AFTER the current point you are in the movie, always load states saved before, or else it WILL desync for sure. Thats the only way i can make it desync for sure.

Then someone will make an amazing 2p run. Nowadays there's no excuse to make a 2p run on worse quality than a 1p, really. Frame advance lives. Show me all your tricks on the 1p run and i will make the 2p run in no time at all. What i mean is, unless some of the tricks work ONLY at 1p, which is unlikely, 2p will obsolete 1p.

I was gonna say the same. Especially because theres only room for one run at this game on this site: the 2 player run. Untill its available i guess we can have a 1 player run, but be adviced i dont see a reason to have 2 of them, so my vote is 2 players -> obsoletes 1 player (for this game).

Allright, i wish you good luck and ask nach if he wants to share his knowledge (he told me he would like to try this game too). Or if he doesnt, you could spend some time trying to push the game to the limits. Here is my hint on how to: try to imagine some things to do on the game even if it seems pointless. It can be the doorway to finding useull glitches / strategies on other places. You can try it either at 100% speed (try and load 100 times untill you get what you want) or try frame advancing if you are pretty sure how it has to work). Either way, good luck.

even so, i bet the top 50 players would play better than me tool assisted playing it, so you'd better get an excellent starcraft player to help out
