When pressing directions on a digital gamepad its common to press a diagonal unintentionally.

GP all the way, the complexity added from having other racers only increases the entertainment factor.

I dont see why making a 50cc or 100cc run. Just the 150cc is enough.

I disagree, i think the reason it hasnt been made yet is that it will be really hard to optimize, and i think everyone will love to see the "perfect" laps for all tracks, its not boring at all.

I wouldnt mind publishing my adventure island for example, and not making avi for it (its too big avi for the movie not being so entertaining), but again, its close to the fastest possible time for THAT game. For that matter, it would be cool to have it published, and many other runs that fit the same characteristics.

I think it will be the same as going back to when we didnt have frame advance for our 2d runs. It will be more based on try and error / skill.

One of the rules on SDA: "Glitches: Many speed runs utilize glitches, unintended side effects of the game's programing, to their advantage. There are some glitches which won't be allowed though: generally any glitch that allows you to leave the normal bounds of the game world, or to magically teleport between distant locations will be forbidden. Anything involving removing a game disc/cartridge or files while the game is running is forbidden. Probably any other glitch will be allowed, but exceptions might be made on an individual basis. Borderline glitches will probably be allowed in separate categories from runs that don't use them." What do you think? Should they simply ban glitches like that? A glitch that cut time like in megaman walking trhough walls and ladder abuse shouldnt be used, by their rules. I think that is another resource from the player and its very hard to do those moves, as it is hard to jump in timing to dodge the enemies and shoot precisely. All these things are part of the game, they want it or not, they cant say that it was an unwanted feature of the game. Who knows, maybe the testers noticed the bug but thought of it as a cool side-effect (since its hard to make the glitch work, and it gives a crazy effect and we dont have time to fix it, we will let it there). But still, these things can help finishing the game faster (which is the only objective of the runs). I dont agree with their rule, but i know they had to choose a rule, and thats what they chose...

Yes. The emulator only needs a little re-programming.

For this kind of thing you use the snes forum, and not the submission forum. the submission forum is for candidates to get publishing. PS.: i havent watched it

I just got to the boss of level 4 now, damn that thing is wicked... It made me die. several times. edit: ok i reached level 5 now. i believe i was close to getting to the boss, but as you can see, the game is pretty evil. (i dont use continues, but i use the extra lives, as lives can let you start on each room, but continue makes you restart the whole level) http://www.angelfire.com/ex/uobt/holy-diver-realtime8-foda.zip

I think the only way they can tell if a run was played on a real nes instead of an emulator is by watching the power on sequence. nothing else. Well i think i could edit it if i wanted to. Record a power on from something else and then edit the avis on the computer then laying back the avi on the tv and recording on tape...

It's also hard to send a tape let's say, from Brazil to Bisqwit.

Wasnt there an emulator project with "safe" non-re-recordable or slowdown feature? Which would make it safe to say that no tools were used?

SNES Super Mario World (USA) in 1:23:38 by Tim Offermann (aka. VIPer7). Total AVI downloads: 6568 I think people enjoy this game a lot so its recommended for first time users.

Phil told me, let the video dump from fceu with the audio desynced. Then on virtuadub, choose - "video" - "frame rate" and mark the option "change so video and audio durations match". and save the avi using same lossless compression. Thanks Phil, that fixed it

it was discussed a bit here http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1682 If the genesis one is an enhanced graphics version of the second nes version, then its better to do on genesis. Because on that one he walks much faster than on the first release of the game. I think you will need to map everything you actually need to grab / use and then plan a route. I'm interested on this game, i just find it a bit hard to plan for a timeattack, thats not my type of thing.
