Phil's movie seem to be ~20 frames too slow on the menu. I tried stage 1 and i could finish it doing the same strat he did without need to wait on the menu.

I don't think the site is for competition NESVIDEOS as i see it is made for hosting entertaining videos, and i think that most people want to see a game finished flawlessly on HARD rather than on EASY. Picking MODE A in the first place was a mistake if you want to compete on circus charlie do it right.

the second fight was taking 2 rounds. and then the 3rd fight was taking like 3 rounds or something because it is cummulative... i think the fastest way to beat the game is to train to 99% strength and then beat all enemies 1 by 1. i don't know why you can try to challenge higher ranked fighters if the game always say "you arent in a good enough rank". you can always only chalenge the person directly above you.

It was needed for some reason. maybe without training i had to hit enemies like 20 times to take 1 health point, and that was on the second fight.

i tried doing it, but you aren't allowed to fight the champ right away, it says you aren't ranked. so i played vs the highest ranked person he let me, and it was really far from the 1st. and after i won i could only go up +1 rank, so many ifghts seem to be needed in order to see this game completed... which is a shame i would like to see it torn apart too. if you want to see my gens movie... maybe i still have it. let me see. hmm... for some odd reason i played it on [E] [o1] version... w/e the movie is 7 minutes long and goes like this: fight - training - fight - training - fight - training - fight i don't remember why did i train, but if i did thats because i had to. it would probably be faster to just train as many times as one have to but do it all at once first, and then fight the fights. of course thats boring -_-

The TV works at 30 interlaced frames, so nes has to calculate 60 entire frames for it to display properly, or maybe i'm completelly off here.

But do you start each level with same time left on both modes?

Maybe the fact that hard mode is faster than easy mode is because of less time left at the end of each stage, resulting in less bonus count time. But the higher score is because of higher time left bonus multiplier? make double avi to check that :)

And mode B is not pointless not in this game and not in donkey kong (i dont know about kung fu). Its a harder game mode because of different obstacles set up. Its not like hard mode of kickmaster where the enemies simply have more HP (there are infinite harder modes on kickmaster). The hard mode here as well as in donkey kong have significant changes. What is wrong is that people started timeattacking them on easy mode, so thats what should be fixed.

this is being discussed a lot on the IRC channel, and i'd like to make my opinion clear here: I'd rather see it played on mode B than mode A. I don't care if mode B requires two stops against only 1 of mode A, or if the competition started on mode A. Should the mistake live on? just fix the system right now and switch to mode B competition.

you acquire new moves in this game by going level up: level 1 = knee drop level 2 = sliding tackle <-- considerable speed increase level 3 = double flying kick level 4 = double standing kick level 5 = i don't remember, not used in the run, might be the flying sliding tackle there's no "defense" or "attack" status change on level up, it only adds +1 health box

Well said. I have a friend that feels the same way about super glitches that finish the game way too fast. He is intersted in seeing the game completed flawlessly, instead of just the shortest path to ending. When i like the game, i want to see both. When i don't i just want to see the shortest path to ending. About the arkanoid video, i suggested getting the CPU play glitch to work which warps to the last levels (not using the A+START cheat). I even tried some and i almost had success but still not quite. I will try more someday.
