Probably hex-editing it would mean different pieces layout, which wouldn't work. I think the "errors" pointed out don't affect gameplay, but this is so much faster than the current movie, i don't know what to say.

Did anyone think about making the movie for other systems with better graphics? how is the game changed? why should the nes version be picked when its the ugliest? :S

I hate to say this, but, doesn't the backflip jump move faster than normal jump, as discussed before on the game's discussion thread? here?

Using the european rom is a problem if the published movie doesnt use an european rom... Read the Rules page. But, i just checked and he DID use the european rom. So this is just right, good job :)

thanks for all. i am julianch, author of horrible runs as Super Mario Bros 2 and 1943 battle of midway. sorry me for stole 2 minutes of genisto's movie and think that i am good a good speedruner, the reallity is diferent. i am an average player, my favorite games are Final Fantasy, Megaman and Kirby. sorry for the troubles that i caused to this great site. i apreciate Bisqwit, Phil and Walker Boh work.
Tool-assited speedrun isn't about being a good gamer though. Its about a lot of effort and time put into making it every step perfect.

He had prizes going on his site and was doing timeattacks, etc. pretty active and then he disappeared without warning and it's been a long time nobody heard about him. People die easily, you know, i hope i'm wrong, but i'm pretty sure that's what happened to him. Nobody plans to die, unless you're a suicidal.

Nintendulator would be the appropriate emulator for such movies.

Well, for atari games you can basically play till the score loops (frostbite), or untill the levels loop (hero), or play really long (river raid), etc. And a lot of activity is funner than sitting at home all day. Varied work is fun, what isn't fun is repetitive work. About ziplock, i fear the worst... you know what i mean.

you can get it pretty early by boucing off turtle shells and letting them revive and then you not falling on the ground. then you fall on the ground just before getting 1-up and repeat process untill there's only enough time left to end the level. there are some levels where you can do this and that would give a lot of points.

You wrote so much that i will at least watch the movie :) brb with impressions. back: ok, i dont like this game. 32 shots to kill the pirana plant? that was really out of balance with the 2 seconds fight with the other boss i dont even rememebr what it looked like hehehe... It looked like it can't be made any faster, except for a ladder that didnt 'look' optimal (but i dont know the phisics of the game) and the marshmellow giant, because it seemed that you did slow shots because only 1 shot was at screen, but couldn't you have jumped just before the first shot left the screen so that when it actually left you would already be on target to give the next shot? what you were doing was wait for the shot to leave screen so you could start the next jump. that looked like it could be improved, but it may have to do with charging shots... dunno. but it really doesnt concern me much as the loooooong fights with some of the bosses... i'd rather see wiz'n liz done than this, at least the *long and repetitive* boss fights have nice music and sound and such. not your fault though. I liked how you crowled on your back hehe :) ,, I'll leave the decision for someone who actually played this game before and like it.

I dont find that practical anymore, in the age of frame advancing... Unless you're planning to play without frame advance, which would be bad. Its better to have one person controlling everything, there can be someone else to "assist" in strategies, or in "hold this button for me please. ok let it go now", but two people thinking at the same time just won't work.

Only the first level he didnt finish with as little health as possible, but he probably only realized it later and didnt want to remake everything. He knows the mistakes on the run. And about changing an option to make raphael run manually: yes please keep it that way. I loved it. Yes vote.

It goes to 999,999,999 and everyone that owned the cartridge has already got that score at least once.

A more general way of setting the "goal" that the emulator has to find is to set it as being "earliest frame that has sprite #(insert address here) loaded on the graphics palette". That would be one way of knowing that the level has ended, for example, or that the enemy died, or that you got the power up, etc.
