That one hit I "miss" is to kill one of the Phantom's shadows he creates. you can clearly see the smoke"puff" it leaves behind. But still he comes back with two clones of himself. So I hit the one shadow to put some entertainment in it. The phantombattle is really slow because if I hit him earlier I do in the run he would: 1) dodge it and then counter with throwing some of those butcherknives 2) later dodge it and then counter with that fireblast 3) take damage and fall down, then backflip away from me, perhaps out of screen So Phantom really made me think when and where to hit him to prevent him to do these things.

Japanese and American versions have the blood in it. Just check the ultimate web database for castlevania games "the dungeon" for more details. I ran the japanese version myself.

hmm, I'm missing a correct rom.. I only find two dumps with (U) and (E) in my roms >:| perhaps when I find a correct rom I can say how good this is played. I've played this game through so many times with my SNES and couple of times with an emulator.. I'm also making a TAS of this game so perhaps I'll spot something I can improve or could be improved.

Any progress? (I'm currently working on this game too, but no WIP so far, struggling with luck manipulation to get magic bottles from enemies, to use Comet Flash to go through stages quickly)

Well.. I only have Normal-game attemps of this game... I think Expert run is just too silly to complete. I do know that it has more enemies and harder stuff, but there is couple boss battles that takes 2+ minutes to kill. I could post my normal runs again if someone is intrested... My best time in normal is still 29:45 :T

Perhaps, but Donatello has the best reach and I usually just dash when I have to go somewhere. I'll have to see if raphael's special attack hits the bosses TWICE like the donatello does.

The throw is used when I need to destroy all the foot soldiers in the screen. Other attacks are used when I need to kill a enemy that makes the screen scroll forward... to make other enemies spawn or make a hasty escape (make the rest of the enemies dissappear when the screen scrolls forward) For example: there is 2 regular 1 sword and 1 shuriken soldier on screen.. I kill the shuriken soldier with a shoulder charge and a kick. it makes another sword soldier to appear. then I throw the regular foot soldier to kill all the soldiers on screen.. If I would throw the soldiers all the time there would be left single soldiers around lingering ... and would slow down the gameplay. (sorry about bad english... I just woke up and my brain is not working at all) But sometimes I use the other attacks just to make some variety. And the weird movement I make sometimes.. it is to manipulate the enemies to move where I want to. Or make them spawn at certain points. I hope this answered the question.

I liked this run, but the game itself is quite boring to watch.. Going to same places for different reasons just to get one ID then back to someplace else to get a ID behind a door locked by a ID then go back to the earlier place to get a ID behind a door... (well, you get my point perhaps :P) Only if there was some glitches to speed up the game...

You should read all the info here. But, to specifically answer your question: Play the movie in read-only (then load a save state sometime before where you want to resume if you have one, otherwise just fast-forward a lot) and then make a save state where you want to resume from, then play the movie in non-read-only and load that save state you just made.
Oh, thanks a bunch. I did read that but you just said it more clearly :P EDIT It has been submitted http://tasvideos.org/825S.html

Finally fixed that Shredder-problem, whew... I'm currently making a movie which have the bonus stages played perfectly. Now it's about 2 minutes faster than the old movie in this site. I cannot take pauses in between making of a movie... I dunno how to resume the movie afterwards :P

I have one question. When/If I make a mistake recording a movie and get hit by a enemy AND press save state at the same time can I resume the movie in some way before I get hit? Like resuming the movie few frames before the mistake and make a correction. I can't seem to figure anything out. playing the movie in certain point and Record from now just records the movie at that point, not from the start of the old movie. TIA ps. I'm no hax0r so don't suggest any hexediting or some other **** like that :T

Oh goddamit. I just made a run (with only Don) again and I got 1 minute better time than previous movie! ...but here's the catch... It still desynchs at Shredder. The footclan doesn't spawn at the same spots like in the movie. Anyone got a clue how to prevent this?

Any progress on this? and those leftover bombs... well you could kill some enemies in the stages with them. I still see you shooting enemies with your machine gun so there you could use the remaining bombs.

Yeah, R-type III run would be better. Or Super R-Type run with only the starting weapon (because the bosses die fastest with the charged up beam).

I think Qix would make a damn good time attack game. Perhaps a little competition on points/area%/fastest clear times and such? ;)

Anyone going for this? I know it's a bit sluggish game, but I really would like to see it played through with good boss techs.. I think it has the best music in Castlevania games ever... yeah... Praying Hands and New Messiah... *drool*
