GPGX has the functionality but no script, since such a script won't be used anytime soon. Speed is several hundred fps on both. Other sonic tools can be done via APIHawk (C# dlls) since there's no lua for linux yet, and when there is it may still be slow to handle all the calcs and UI.

Around frame 640, you will see a Pokémon walking up. The issue is that each time you play back the movie, a different Pokémon will appear! This obviously shouldn't happen in a deterministic environment. Note that DeSmuME doesn't have this issue, as it always spawns the same Pokémon (Eevee) when it starts from clean SRAM.
This is worth having a github issue for.

Minor differences is not an absolute term obviously. The absolute term is this: Any in-game option that results in inherently showcasing more than 50% of unique content, can be considered a separate mode, and can co-exist in Vault. If a movie is not eligible for Moons, 50% difference is what we need. For Moons, we don't require that much of a difference between branches. But they still should represent, let's say, as much unique content as possible. Unique techniques and glitches, unique routing, unique enemies or items. While we don't have up-to-date runs for every other branch, we can only directly compare whatever we have. I guess I'll end up watching them all again, and checking which branches have unique/similar routes in which levels. While I'm working on that, you guys can list unique elements in the runs we're comparing. That means, what techniques and glitches, items and enemies are only available for Knuckles alone? Tails alone? Sonic alone? Sonic+Tails?

We only call a core SomethingHawk is it was developed by hawk devs specifically for hawk, and for now, all of those are in C#. I think having BizHawk as a name is the best option.

Even then all I saw in that run was running, jumping, and occasionally wall-clipping, over and over, for an hour. I can't agree that there's enough of variety and actual action.

I kept laughing for 4 days and now that I finally stopped, I honestly think this movie's content is kinda acceptable as a demonstration. There's always a chance that if it is accepted, it will get all 3s for entertainment, but the way it's done resonates quite well with what the audience enjoys. It's like the first ever true ACE TAS: it wasn't as impressive as [3050] NES Super Mario Bros. 3 "arbitrary code execution" by Lord_Tom in 08:16.23 and [3358] GBC Pokémon: Yellow Version "arbitrary code execution" by MrWint in 05:48.28, but it looked truly novel and fresh, so people were really impressed. Maybe it still gets rejected for using a non-approved setup, which we still want to start supporting soontm. Then whenever we do, it can be accepted?

This run is technically quite impressive, but the problem is that it's a new branch, and we already have quite a few of them: http://tasvideos.org/Movies-127G-RatingE.html I watched most of them side-by-side level-by-level, and I can say that this branch doesn't fully look similar to any of the existing ones, only some parts look close, to some of the existing branches. Yet we can't be expanding this indefinitely. Interestingly, the lowest rated branches are the 100% ones. But while Sonic 100% is "the worst", it's 1) full completion, and also 2) still quite different from this run. From singular branches we have Knuckles and Tails. Both resemble this run in some areas, also I'd theorize that if they are redone now, they will look closer to this movie. However Tails is rated really high, so I'm not sure which we can sacrifice. I do expect any% to look a lot like this run if it's redone too, but what about singular Knuckles and Tails? Which of them will differ from this run more, if all the new tricks are applied?

Raw data won't help because we're not watching those on the devices they were developed for, so it has to be some approximation of how they looked to a human in the end. With TVs it's completely impossible, but with handhelds it is maybe a bit more standard?

Just like NTSC means Never The Same Color, there's no "absolutely objectively perfectly accurate" palette for GBC, because the system had variations. What we can do tho is determining which palette corresponds to what device and encourage people to use them accordingly, instead of "I happen to like when it's all green, let's enforce it".

I agree about personality and style. Like in finest works of TAS gods (Sonikkustar, Cardboard, FODA), the playarounds feel natural and creative, fitting the game theme. The glitches also help a lot. Great ratings. Decent variety. Starred.

Completing the game and then doing all the post-completion stuff in one go sounds perfectly reasonable to me. Also just like in Super Metroid, avoiding glitches that greatly damage entertainment makes it even better as a part of community-preferred full completion rules. Using those glitches in 100% would be vaultable, but no one would honestly enjoy such a run, while avoiding them boosts the feel of completeness. Vanilla "no abort/any%" may be unnecessary if we have vanilla "no abort/100%". Playing OP for the sake of itself is like enabling a GT code in Super Metroid just to make it easier. Starting from a fresh save is always the preferred option, because it guarantees your movie will be published as Fastest Completion. Then, if you want to build something on top of that, making it a new, save-anchored movie is okay, as long as it features stuff that is 1) unique, not available in any%, 2) interesting and sensible as a goal, and 3) entertaining on its own. Then if it meets Moons requirements, it can be published. Regarding 300%, is there some official indication that saves should be used across all 3 games?

In newgame+, how do I check those elves that give subtanks? In Pause menu I only see Biraid and Clokkle.

Am I correct in how I verify 100% requirements: - all ex-skills are available in newgame+ - all disks unlock ultimate mode - 2 subtanks are available in newgame+, and 2 can be obtained from elves that were collected Also suggested screenshot

It's related to libTAS dependencies versions, and it's fixed in master IIRC. Some distros may have those deps the way libTAS expects them, some don't. Also, you don't need to disable "Prevent writing to disk" to sync the run. If that is disabled, after the run was replayed once, one has to go to /home/<you>/.config/UNDERTALE and delete the files, otherwise the game launches to black screen. PS: your movie doesn't tell anything about the distro it was synced on.
