I THINK slower.

Very nice run. Did you do anything different than usual when you encoded the video for Youtube? I see sprite flicker, so I assume you must have used some method of TASblend. Yet it doesn't look like a blurry, smeary piece of crap like most other TASblend encodes. What's different about this one?
This is a divine method of flicker recognition worked out in this thread, though no one uses it but me. I use it for all 30 fps blinking/twitching. Even Alisia Dragoon looks awesome.

I never thought that even less movements on the Railway would be more interesting than now. As for GB, VBA can not into TASEdit.

It would be awesome to see Thunder Force IV / Lightening Force: Quest for the Darkstar playthrough.

I really like it and it's a nice improvement. But maybe it would be better if it was in the hardest difficulty available (I know it would be slower than the published run for the reasons you said but I still think it's better)... just a random thought.
I couldn't cout real improvements if I tased Hard. And even knowing the strategy now, I don't wish to do the same tas just on Hard.

I'm on Windows. You just need something like Visual Studio to build the executional. Or wait the official release.

The case here is that this game has much places where you just hold a button for many frames or wait. Look at the rerecord counter. Also, this is 1 player. PS: This was such fast thanks to TASEdit!

Don't remember when you said that, but I started last weekend, just after the mentioned guy suggested the first level improvement.

A fantastic comment went from YT: He was just out for a walk, and probably couldn't figure out why everyone was shooting at him. Even when he went to great pains to avoid them (including getting killed three times), they wouldn't relent. So he blew up their island. The end. :)

For anyone interested, this project is now off the ground. We have researched movement and damage of the different characters, basic lua script is up, and recording has begun. Sonikku has found a movement glitch which will make the movie look very different and be a lot faster.
While not being interested in making this TAS, I'm very interested in any founds as I love the game. Can you post a gif of this glitch?

I know. But after I uploaded this Sonic to my second (unlimited) YT account, next day it was capped regardless phone number (for no reason). So, now I'm not able to upload 15+ min vids again.

- Over 1minute20seconds faster than previous run - 35871 rerecords - Rated 3 on technical quality Enjoy being subjective. As for entertainment subjectivity, many people consider just a few aspects from this list (that I believe is as objective as possible, even though we have a different feel on entertainment): - How much is going on - How fast-paced the game is - How irksome, monotonous the gameplay is (kills long runs) - How cool the graphics/music is (the game's spirit, making it enjoyable) - How much work was put into creating entertainment (how much the author cared) - How much/deep glitches are used - WTF factor - How much players were used (how they interact) - How superhuman does it look overall Edit: Here's my technical factors list, just felt like sharing it: - How many rerecords were used - How long/in-depth the submission text is - Subpixels matter - Is the game overtased - How deep was the run planned (life, item, character management) - How much players were used (how they interact) - How good were the tools available/used (fceu .12 itself was hard to TAS on) - Was the code/RNG studied - How superhuman does it look overall

Already seeding it to Brandon. And the link to the .torrent file was put into my PM to you (last one).

Does someone want to try tackling a full encode of Alisia Dragoon to see what they can do there? While this focus on parts of a video is fine, we need to apply this to more complete TASes to get the full effect, I feel.
I've made an HD encode of your Alisia, but when I logged into my second YT account, I suddenly found it was capped again for NO reason. I can try to seed this file to you to upload & replace the official YT encode for the publication, as it looks awesome.

I'm supporting Aglar's decisions knowing they are always reasonable, and this thread confirms that again. Ah, let's define the exact category and measure of glitch somewhere, then let's prove this isn't arbitrary (like the in-game timer is free from subjectiveness and can be a good criteria) and anyone would agree with this measure of glitch allowed in Sonic, and ONLY THEN you'll be welcome with words against the current decision. But from what I've read in the submission text, no one could suggest the measure acceptable for everybody. If you have nothing concrete to suggest (any deviation from the chosen category would water down the point of glitch allowed/disallowed), and can't do this run yourself - don't grumble towards the very optimised run.

If Soig didn't change any of the previous movie's entertainment decisions (the former submission was awful in that), anyone wouldn't be able to notice the difference. Isn't that ambiguity? Is the framecount itself enough? See how one may improve the style (scorecount) even lowering the counter just for a SINGLE frame.

I didn't see any problem with stages 2 & 4 and the exploding walls. Here's what I found kind of questionable: was it necessary to fire at (and hit) some of the stationary gunners early in stage 5? If these shots actually saved time, so be it, but if it was just stylistic, it doesn't really seem within the spirit of the run to blast enemies a few times just because they won't die from it. It seems more like torture than pacifism. Same applies to the second snowmobile in the same stage. I really liked the work overall, though. Nice improvement.
These soldiers have a metal shield, shooting it does nothing against themselves ^_^ And shooting the tank is okay as long as it doesn't explode. You know, if you shoot several bullets to a real tank, people inside it won't die.

As always, STRANGE (for a regular viewer/taser) ideas hardly attract much attention. Well, until you present the result. So, while I like the idea of improving the true pacifism of Contra run, I can't be sure anyone would pick it. And I remember some other rule of life: if no one wants to do what you wish, do it yourself. It's not telling AnS to tas Contra, it's more like saying that I didn't like the entertainment decisions in this submission at all - and if I had time I'd apply both your and my wishes to pacifist Contra. But as for now, we may accept this submission as it's obviously better optimized then the previous one. We still can keep all timesavers, but use kinda trade-off to make this boring goal WAY more interesting! For example, one may switch weapons as much as possible and shoot as much as the lag counter allows (after clever management we probably won't need to trade something off). I'm even thinking of a 2 player pacifist (don't remember if it was discussed already) to bring more action. So, pacifist Contra is yet far from it's limits and sumerhumanity.
