Holding back the encode then.

I'm surprised that you posted the WIP, I thought you wouldn't want to share your decisions. For now I am at the end of second floor of the refregerator. When the screen scrolls left and reaches the left end. Well, I reach it 164 frames faster than you. I mentioned about the openness, but didn't force anyone to share what he came up with. I find it more interesting to invent everything yourself. Also I'm paranoid and think that if you know the exact amount of frames I'm ahead, you'd TAS the shit out of that game just to match my time. Surely I hope you wouldn't and my movie would appear still faster, but whatever XD Anyway, you know my time now.

Where I can get the source code? Where is that option there?
Here is the source. The options you want are in the "hackdefs.h" file; uncomment this line:
//#define SONICCAMHACK // enables camhack (see Sonic offscreen) in sonic games, and hitbox/solidity display
There are two other uncommented lines that disable hitbox and solidity display, so by only uncommenting the line I told you you get the camhack without them. Also, S2 is selected by default (you need to compile a different version for each game). Then compile it; there are instructions somewhere.
Thanks, compiled succesfully. Dumping the camhacked avi.

It might not be exactly 4:3, but the DAR of genesis is about 4:3, and the pixels certainly aren't square.
Don't you happen to know how to fix the script to make Genesis dump 4:3 and of acceptable size?

The hitboxes can only be turned off by recompiling with the option disabled.
Wait, you mean there's no way to encode the movie with CamHack only? No scripts for that?

Here: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8827&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=51. These are closer to Gens 11b than to Gens 11a, but the movie synchs nevertheless. I don't have any precompiled versions with only CamHack.

TV seems to compress the picture horizontally, doesn't it? If it's more narrow than it shall be to match 4:3, it's stretched.

Something's wrong with aspect ration correction in general HD script when it comes to Genesis. It upscales the frame twice more then intended I think. 8960x6720. I used to solve that by setting "handheld" to "true", but now I understood that instead of horizontal stretching Genesis need the opposite, as 320x224 is wider than 4:3. But it doesn't work.

Encoding for YT. Please remind me the correct sound checkboxes. I recall PSG High quality shall be unchecked, right? How about the rest HQ checkboxes?

This problem doesn't exist in the first world—our screens are wide enough.
You know, mine is so wide that if I fill it with brouser only, I lose tons of icons that are perfectly accessible, if I size my brouser so that I don't need to jump with my eyes from very left to very right when reading. Imagine that instead of a book you have the whole novel written on the wall, with lines as wide as wall, and the font size as big as in the intial book.

But its my record. He is trying to steal it from me.
Don't say that. Here we have a true competition spirit when every trick is open once the run is submitted. And one always may miss a trick another have used, and learn it only from the latter. When several people can really contribute to the run, they team up. But for the games that are very simple, it's more interesting to check your skill, because such pure competition gives a cool inspiration to do your best. The main idea here is THE GAME, not THE PLAYER. We want perfection, because we love games. One can never call himself an owner of the record, because anything can be improved, it's just a matter of will and time. And skill :)

Also, are any of you interested in improving the 2-player run on the original game? Some months ago, Aglar was looking for a partner to help with running that game, and from the looks of things on the game's thread, that run hasn't seemed to make much progress yet.
He was speaking about the first game only.

Going to participate. I mean, in teh war. Pity this game can't provide Y subpixel tricks the first version can, because it doesn't alter the Y subpixel while you're on the foor. And there's no X subpixels either. That means it's gonna be all about manipulation and route.

Everything is not bad comparing to anything worse. Compare to perfect, as we do here, and you could improve the subject.

Did Dacicus end up deciding to leave? Last I talked to him was two days ago on IRC and he said he was "seriously considering" leaving. I agree that he's a valuable member. He's always volunteering his time to help the site - publishing, encoding, making runs, and participating in discussions. It would be a shame to see him resign over this controversial issue.
I don't think that losing such important members because of someone's bad humour is permissible at all! We must find out if he was serious and do all we can to prevent his departure, if we was serious!
