Hint: If you not just use a [code] tag, but [code=Script.lua], there will be a download button and a proper syntax highlight. And scripts can be ran just by dragging them into Gens window.

This run initially. Same as this. Although both were published before the tiers system was implemented.
And both were unobsoleted, by the Moons rules, because the audience didn't feel they were actually obsolete.

Accepted, but lost a star. This movie, but the previous movie it obsoleted utilized a trick that would not be possible on real console (there's an extra lag frame for saving on the previous run) so I'm not exactly sure would it still hold regardless.
Both happened before Moons. The first one happened because it was extremely unclear back then how to handle such cases. Today we would most likely just reject it. As for Chrono Trigger, no one suggested the older runs to be unobsoleted in the thread of the same name. And what's the best, the new run that's being published doesn't corrupt memory.

In terms of votes, this one. Although I do agree on it's rejection.
Once again before Moons. But it's a board game, that even Vault doesn't accept. Rejected on game choice, and will be rejected again if submitted.

This movie, but it seems more of the lack of posts before publication that made it seem like the majority enjoyed the movie.
It was just a wrong tier decision. We keep a room for a judge to change it after publication. Nothing regarding rejection or obsoletion chains. All in all, I still don't see any flaws in our current branching system.

I'm tired of theory and abstractions. Please report the submission threads where people were saying "this is so different and good that it needs a new branch" but the judge rejected or obsoleted, or a thread where people say "it's too similar to branch X, but is more boring overall" that was accepted as an improvement. Where exactly the judging was wrong, as in contradicted to the majority of viewer opinions? Or where the majority of viewers was wrong and following their opinion was also wrong? Some examples please.

We don't rely on absolutes anymore, only on statistics. What's so wrong with that?

Are you saying we should keep an obsolete branch simply because a community for this game decided to? That's.....quite pointless to keep the current branch.
What makes Moons movies obsolete? Having better content. If something is faster it doesn't mean it's better. If you personally can't enjoy anything Super Metroid other than "GT code/game end", it doesn't mean all the rest branches of it are obsolete. We don't rely on absolutes anymore, only on statistics. What's so wrong with that?

Hint: if you upscale by factor 8 (encoding with x264), the file size will be much smaller. Aspect ratio correction can then be done via youtube tags. http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=340333#340333 Watched the beginning of that encode. Without logo and subtitles it can't be used as an official youtuber.

No idea what made me read that post, but seeing my name there was 100% unexpected. You mean am I going to reject the run? For some improvement possibility? Seriously? Even without watching it, just by reading the comments, it's clear how much effort was put into this. I was even thinking of starring it, if it's decided which of the Sonic franchise stars can be moved. As for encode, the author can even host the HD encode that is officially linked from the publication page. I just need to upload the backup version to TVC, generate the description, and you will need to paste it as your upload description.

Here's the fixed version. Game Genie dialog floats around as long as you want, not pausing emulation. Also, sound gets cleared on breakpoints. http://feos-tas.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/Misc/Gens-Debug-GG.7z

Branches showcase approaches. Approaches can be abstracted out of huge amount of examples. Using "warp glitch" is an approach, and as long as it differs from the regular completion, it needs a label. If it's fastest possible (any%) or full completion (100%) it can be vaulted. All other branches only exist in Moons. Labels have little relation to tiers. What is a regular completion is explained in the guidelines.

Exactly. EDIT: well, maybe this one should be "warp glitch" since it doesn't jump to the ending directly.

[2084] GB The Addams Family "warp glitch" by NitroGenesis in 01:35.78 and yet that isn't labelled as such. Why? Is it because it's vaulted? Or is it because it warps to the last boss rather than the credits?
Y U overcomplicate? It's because I'm unaware of some runs that skip to end or warp to near the end. If you know more, tell.

Thanks. Then, I guess, all movies but 2 should keep the current labels. These 2 are: [2457] GB Pokémon: Blue Version "warp glitch" by MrWint in 28:07.28 and [950] SGB Pokémon: Blue Version "trainer escape glitch" by primorial_soup in 1:18:58.78. Primorial#soup's run avoids both approaches that cut the time the glitched way, and it doesn't have any regular goals that could increase the time, right? Sounds like "" to me (blank label, trunk, traditional completion). MrWint likely should be "warp glitch". p4wn3r's run should either remain "SRAM glitch", or become "game end glitch", not sure about the best system to apply these 2.

It's easy in Gens-rr and its branches (including the above mod). File -> Game Genie -> CODE -> "FF1234:0040" will virtually patch word $FF1234 to be 0x40. Note: the address must be to word (not FF1233 or FF1235) and the value word (not 40). Activate patches by leftclick, remove (in the mod) by rightclick. The only problem is that GG dialog can't hang open while emulating, but it can be fixed internally, if critical.

Renamed most of formerly "glitched" and "no foo glitch" runs without problems, but what about pokemons and final fantasy 4? http://tasvideos.org/movies.cgi?id=1840,950,2457 http://tasvideos.org/movies.cgi?id=2543,1149 FF4 is overall glitched to death, but what's the main thing that makes it so much faster? How it corrupts the memory? And pokemons, what is the exact set of movies that are considered one game? Only the ones I linked? How many of them use/avoid save corruption and glitched warps? What is the traditional completion type?

Trunk is not the fastest completion, but a run that doesn't have any special goals. Whatever goal is special is judged by the statistics. If some approach is only used in 1 run, and in 4 it's avoided, it's special, and needs a label. If it's used in 3, and 2 avoid it, neither is default. Super Metroid perfectly tells how it is supposed to work.

Are all improvements done? Also, what font do I need to install to see proper Japanese in the game? I installed SOME Japanese font and it doesn't help.

Mostly copied from Pasky13's script. Do you really need all the messy sword+boss hitbox stuff? Didn't do it yet.
