Oh, yes. Except that I don't know how most of the games must actually behave. So even if I see a bug, I won't recognize it, since it'd require playing the same games on hardware as well. I personally think that all the bugs that are possibly there (so far I saw none of the bugs from PCSX core) can be tolerated after all the real benefits that are there already. And testing is up to users afterwards, so that people not meeting bugs could start enjoying it.

Judging by turska's logic, it is totally impossible to improve a Vault run so much that the new one will go to Moons. Don't we still see the flaws of it?

The problem that I have with vaulting something is that it ends up hidden, and so it is less likely to get voted on. Also, vaulting a movie that is rated as a 6 is rather harsh; it hides too many decent runs. I suppose there is also an aspect of "The TASer wasted time making this" element to the vault category.
I love your way of thinking!

I wonder if the voting question should be changed to "Should this movie be published" and the movie voting system added in as a separate "question" to help gauge the entertainment level. This would help get more movie voting, and it would also separate the automatic "improvement so yes" from the entertainment voting. This would also give a better indication for the tier placement if published. I also wonder if the tier placement affects how people vote on the movie.
A fews teps in that direction were done by Nach, but he didn't get enough feedback from staff members, so I assume he just should apply it for real and then tweak it by people's common will.

And my question? I want to do something that can help with it. I'm not exactly a layperson, as I can understand code if needed, but what can I do?

No, thank you. We won't be doing this, or anything like this. Instead we'll be using mednafen which probably doesn't have that bug, and fixing the bug if it exists.
What can a layperson do to help getting mednafenhawk? From what I've just seen in it, it's awesome. Yes, the Abe bug doesn't exist there.

I absolutely disagree with vaulting this. Feedback is nearly perfect, votes are nearly perfect. You say they are off because of the factors that you are unable to detect with certainty. What if it's not so? What if people actually answered the question and did like the run? You say, no they didn't, they were mistaken in the posts and votes. Then why the heck do we have them for, if they can be so arbitrarily ignored by judge's will? Borderline cases are serious business (Vault something poorly received until it gets good ratings, Moon something unclear until it's rated poorly, and then switch tiers with proof), but this one is in no way a borderline case!

What GPU plugin was PShawk going to use anyway? Is it possible to grab the picture from the one that isn't written to send it?

The point was being able to anti-alias psxjin tases. All the rest of your post makes little sense to me (still). But I'm not adding a feature that was deliberately nuked out by the authors.

I honestly don't understand. Are they going to switch plugins for certain areas only? If not, there's always a regular build. Also, if they want quality, let them play the damn thing in PCSX :D Am I still missing something?

Oh, ability to switch plugins? Nah, I replaced all callbacks, and I'm not a coding pro to do things right, when dealing with dll interface and stuff, since it's no longer dll in PSXjin. I don't see problems with just using 2 executionals.

The game does get progressively harder in the following cycles. It eventually has more and more of the blue enemies that were a pain in the ass, and I think more pterodactyls (I believe that is the official enemy name) if I recall correctly. It has been a very long time since I played this. But I guess it wouldn't matter for a TAS since it would kill them in an instant regardless. I don't know what to vote on this. I'm not sure that going more cycles would be any more entertaining.
If you are totally sure the game does get harder than this, I'll have to reject it as well. Looking similar (if the enemies were insta-killed) doesn't remove the Vault rule about completing the game up to where it's not harder anymore.

It seems the fastest way to fly up is not 2 frames B 1 frame empty (as in this movie), but rather 5 frames B 1 frame empty. Testing other things...

My thoughts about potential obsoletion. In the TASing world, we don't deal with absolute accuracy. We have to limit it with absolute determinism. Even if both can't be achieved, we put the priority on determinism, because if it's broken, TASing isn't possible. And yes, if accuracy is what breaks determinism, we will have to sacrifice it (trying to minimize the sacrifice, but still). If a run does sync on a console, it adds to its value. But if the run doesn't sync, it doesn't lower its value! Just because we do not deal with stripped reality - we bend it to fit our needs. In reality, determinism can be totally impossible in some cases (Ilari was always mentioning his Gonzales runs on that matter), so we just assume it's possible and make it virtually possible and stable. We can't afford disqualifying runs that don't sync, because it has zero benefits (in my eyes), and introduces an unfair amount of problems for all. If one cares so much about runs being syncable, the best option is to improve the emulators (or replay devices), to get closer that that goal. To make possible disqualifying non-syncing runs, we must make it easy and reliable to get them to sync in the first place, which we can't do right now, and won't be able to in the nearest future. So please let's not turn verification against anything.

Then I have another question. What is usually stopping your improvement excitement? For this game, it seems to be an annoying/broken engine. But maybe it's some tool not being useful? For example, I never can think about a run when I'm using savestates - all my brain powers go to figuring out what states to save and when, and then not forget to press input!
