Okay, now should I restore the other 2 runs' branches? And should the current UMK3's branch be glitchfest instead of playaround (to highlight the content and be true to the submitted branch)?

Now for some cores it shows the exception that can never be closed:
System.NullReferenceException: Ссылка на объект не указывает на экземпляр объекта. в BizHawk.Client.EmuHawk.GenericDebugger.get_PC() в BizHawk.Client.EmuHawk.GenericDebugger.DisassemblerView_QueryItemBkColor(Int32 index, Int32 column, Color& color) в BizHawk.Client.EmuHawk.VirtualListView.OnCustomDrawNotice(Message& m) в BizHawk.Client.EmuHawk.VirtualListView.WndProc(Message& m) в System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.OnMessage(Message& m) в System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m) в System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam)
And for others it shows it, and when you close it, then goes the window I posted earlier. If I shouldn't post it (until sometime), just tell me.

Please add PSX option to the Choose a Core dialog. I bet many users have only bins, but as there's an option like that, it makes sense to pick PSX too. EDIT: Dumping now works perfectly, but I'm unsure about clipping the overscan option. When in debug video mode, it still doesn't clip out 10 pixels for 320x240 internal resolution, and 20 pixels for bios which is 640x480. But it's not 5 from each side, it's 7 from the left and 3 from the right (9 and 11 for bios). I'm sure the games I tested it with run at 320x240 by design, so these pixels shouldn't be there. No idea how it should be for other modes though. EDIT: Also, should there be an option to skip bios at altogether?

Well, yes, but aren't they a case similar to Sonic 3/Sonic & Knuckles/Sonic 3 & Knuckles?

TASeditor: so could you improve the Xipo's run? Also, not knowing the game, could we have simply separate branches for each character?

I have a hard time thinking why it lost the Playaround branch (to be confused with any%).

Nach: there actually exist playarounds of this game already. It's just both got their branches removed (WTF), and the current one (that obsoleted the old one) is in fact a "glitchfest".

I'm accepting this as an obsoletion of the currently published UMK3 playaround. We do not need two playarounds of the same game, especially as many of the glitches are shared between both runs. Both runs do the glitchy fighting very well, but this new run adds many interesting level and background glitches that are not shown in the previous run and so, among other things, fulfills the entertainment goal better.

If you guys figure out how it actually builds on Linux, please post the guide so that it could be added to http://tasvideos.org/Bizhawk/Compiling.html

What emulators besides Gens can do multitrack?

But in the case of the run that this thread is about, you don't see any blinking at all. When Sonic is fighting any of the bosses, nothing happens when Robotnik is hit. You should see him flashing, or at least light up if deblinked. At least for me, it looks like nothing happens at all when he's hit.
It's because it was not deblinked at all. Watch my newgame+ encodes for how it should look like when done right. The boss will look light gray, just like in Gens, just like on TV. If I uploaded 60 fps of that boss, he would indeed be flashing, which (as I said) is different from console, Gens, and devs' intend.

What I see in the second video with 1080p@60FPS is 30Hz flicker like the source probably is.
If it's 30 fps blinking, you wouldn't see it. You'd see translucent James. But if you really see how he blinks, then it's indeed what I was talking about. HOWEVER, I have an idea. If we upload 60 fps deblinked footage, it will improve scrolling and still do the translucent job! What do you think? Now we only need to prove that it improves scrolling :D

Aktan: do you seriously think I'd upload a 30 fps video to prove it's not 60 fps? I used a 60 fps vid, resized to 1080p and blinking on every other frame. And you didn't post what you see on the second video sample (on Chrome@60). Otherwise, there seems to be a point about how 60 fps option improves scrolling and stuff like that. I saw one example proving it correct. I'm unsure if that makes 4 HD youtube encodes for this publication worth it though.

For a run with unvaultale goal, this looks like a rejection.

phoenix1291: The second screenshot is (most likely) how the game actually does it, then it's resized by a TV to 4:3. But I see correct colors on your image... Note: it doesn't matter what codec I use to dump, but it can be something like 16/24-bit image the GPU emulator gives, I saw that in Pete's OpenGL GPU.

GTA2. Just run it until the cutscene. Gameplay also looks like that, while none of the static screens does. And only when dumping under anything other than PixelPro.

I see what you mean about the video above. In 480p, the 60fps version looks like flashing whereas in 1080p it looks almost transparent.
Not even close to that, no matter how I try it.

It sucks that HD is required for 60fps. Anyway, you already provide two variants of this run. Is it a huge inconvenience to offer a separate 60fps version for people who want it? Do you need someone to "donate" the upload in these cases?
I'm only saying this "60" fps stuff can't be an official solution (for now), simply because it's not 60 unless one is blessed. For the people who want such an upload, I only can suggest to ask a publisher to make one, as they do CamHacked, Cutsceneless, HQ encodes and whatnot. Seeing how Spike didn't even deblink it, I'm unsure if it will succeed. The intent of my previous post was to collect statistics, so I'd love to know how it actually looks for people. Note: embedded video even on Chrome doesn't provide a 60 fps option to me, but when watching on YT, it does.

Tried to open Debugger window. Shows that and closes the emulator (for any core). I know it's unfinished, just saying what it does for me.

Carl Sagan: Don't worry, the moons tier allows as many unique categories published as we want. Just takes someone to make a run using all the tricks except jump to game end (and audience support). Exactly what happened to Rockman. [1686] NES Mega Man by Shinryuu & finalfighter in 12:23.34 [2601] NES Mega Man "game end glitch" by pirohiko & finalfighter in 00:32.11 That's how we divide between any% (with major skip glitch) and any% (no major skip glitch). Both are any%, and both are considered the true any% category!!!11 (c) by different people.

Tried out dumping with different options. For anything other than PixelPro, it dumps segmented by resolutions (what we want), but some of the segments look like this (what we don't want): Otherwise, the general preference for dumping is going to be the Debug mode, since we need the exact picture dumped, that will then be resized to the gameplay resolution.

Tested with GPGX. GDI+: 35 fps @ 3x, 45 fps @ 2x. OGL: 40 fps @ 3x, 85 fps @ 2x. And yes, the option didn't exist in the latest release.

Alright, here are the videos. What you see? Link to video Link to video I have no idea what YT does to the video, but what I see in Opera/Mozilla/Crome@60 is exactly what I see when I download it from YT: "deblinked" has zero changes whatsoever, "full fps" is 30 fps with some algorithm of dropping frames. To figure it out, I'm going to stack them horizontally and compare frames. http://rghost.ru/private/59823398/bfd2d4e7d1c78a732b5917dfaae0a2e0 Comparison video shows the frame number. Preparing the listing... Just as expected. We blend what we need and drop every other frame.
Language: AviSynth

ng_deblink(0.5) SelectEven()
YT does: no drop, drop 1, drop 2 in a loop.
Language: AviSynth

SelectEvery(6,0,1,3)

   -- --
   30 30 +
Bottom line: YT's super hyper wise algorithm for 60 fps footage is exactly what we would do 4 years ago. The only difference is that we went a different path: we used drop to 25 fps (ChangeFPS(25)), then instead of dropping 0, 1, 2 (SelectEvery(6,0,1,3)), we developed TASblend. Remember how it was hyped about? Then we developed deblink. It was perfect, except for backgrounds shaking at 30fps. Why was it perfect? Because developers used 30 fps blinking as a feature, it was displayed ideally translucent on TV. When they didn't want that, they simply did 15 fps blinking, and it looked as an ideal blinking. Now if someone is going to say that we must jump 4 years back and return to dropping frames, because suddenly we start preferring something random to what developers were intending to do, and to what TV showed, sorry, but it's absurd.

If you compare 60fps and 30fps deblinked, 60 fps is superior.
I see no proof of that in my version of reality.

No need to test. YT likely will drop every other frame or so. Blending frames into one another wouldn't make sense for them, because there's no (in general) right way to do it.
There is need. It's people saying that deblink is obsolete/does worse than YT.
