"Major skip glitch" is a tag, not a branch, and it covers all cases I described in Post #403668 If this run does a ton if small glitched warps throughout the whole run, and avoiding them would result in a totally different run with totally different time, it'd still be a "warp glitch". And only for cases that can not be described by those 3 general names we add a unique description.

There are 3 basic types of breaking glitches: 1. Game end glitch - skip right to credits. 2. Warp glitch - skip a major portion(s) of the game, but not to its end. 3. SRAM glitch - when you load corrupted save data and all sorts of mad things happen. This run seems to be of the second type.

Rerecording was only tried to be added to mame, but not mess. And with both of these the main problem is that whoever was coding the modules per system was not consistent about savestates, or didn't even add support for them, so on systems where savestates work, they may not be deterministic, but no one knows for sure.

I agree that it's not enough to TAS a "better version" without time improvement to erase the current author's name. So even if there's no input by Phil here, co-authoring him is very fair. It's not a run obsoletion, it's a game obsoletion, the author that had no choice back then should not get the blame by erasing his name like that.

I am for obsoletion. This game was made at the same time (or even earlier) as the official NES one, and it's indeed original. Being for the same console architecture as NES in the first place does help. Having both is only worthy if their outcomes are different. But while this run eats the contents of the current NES run completely, it has something to add, and still the outcome is the same. Swallow the current one then, there's simply no content benefit otherwise.

I'd request the new judges to set the tier in the corresponding form of the submission. It's the only way to actually sort the submissions page by status and instantly see what's being published and what's accepted, otherwise it's all mixed.

There were some cases where the converted movie synced right away and both files were published, but there's none when a manually resynced and actually different file was added like that. So the only thing you can do is posting your movie in the publication's thread in case someone wants to run it. But again there's no decision about adding at least a link to such files to the pub description. And yes probably the 2 threads could be merged.
