Maybe too late, but the suggestion is to use BOTH outcomes: just not blindly, but relying on statistics. Read the OP once again.

Clearly not, given how many posts have been made defending the concept that ACE runs that jump to the end credits are legit game completions. (And the fact that ACE run submissions are officially not considered breaking the rule that says that the game must be completed.)

Do you by any chance want the site stop accepting ACE runs?

The debate about "fastest ACE completion" and "fastest game completion without ACE" isn't about whether they should be categories. It's about which one should be called any% (making the other one either "game end glitch" if we have the any% as non-ACE, or "no ACE" if we have the any% as ACE-allowed).
That's a completely different problem. It only depends on the viewer what to call "true any%", the site can't do it, exactly because it depends on viewer opinions, and they differ drastically. So we just have both. Fastest possible by all means is vaultable, so it will be published no matter what. Avoiding game breaking glitches will only be published if the game is entertaining enough to have branches. Read carefully the following post: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15247

Newcomer Rec was designed to keep runs that blew people's minds, regardless of when it happened. It showcases how super popular games can be abused to maximum. However, Megaman 1 isn't there, because it's hard to follow, and Megaman 2 is there, because while maximum glitchy, it's kinda easier to follow. So SMB3 total control absolutely blew people's minds, as did Pokemon Plays Twitch. What about SMW Pong? Did it really blow people's minds? Then, there's a technical achievement criterion. Each of the runs showcase maximum what can currently be done, and they become more and more impressive during tme, Pi is cute, but rather simple, Pong is 2 years old and kinda faded now, as we saw SMW Mario Maker. SMB3 is super fresh and super neat. The recent AGDQ event was super successful for tasbot, so if we explain things well in the movie text, it is the run people are likely to want to see when we first arrive, and it's best to be easily accessible. So while MM1 and MM2 are of the same level of impressiveness, but of different level of comprehensibility, SMB3 total control is by all means the most impressive of the 3, both technically and visually. Bonus points for having a human actually play it before thousands of people (human playing pong is not anymore that impressive really). So if we put Pong there, we're lowering the standard for Newcomer Rec with hopes to be comprehensible, which we probably shouldn't do. It didn't even have a star, just because the payload was not that entertaining. If not the 2 day deadline, Masterjun would have time to do more, but it's what we have.

Emulation accuracy can affect the factors that RNG uses, but the principle is the same.

Can you remind me why you consider using emulator tools legit means of game completion?
Because they feed controller input to the game, which is running as exactly as possible compared to the actual console? All TASes could ostensibly be hardware-verified. After all, abusing emulator bugs is not considered legit. Modifying the game code itself using the emulator is also not considered legit. I don't really understand what you are getting at.
But you have a whole crowd of people who say "Emulator replay removes all the fun, all the challenge from game completion, only real-time speedrunners are really the men!" No one is able to find what exactly is wrong with replays for them, just because replays rely on some special rules and in that case they get approved by community that is interested in them. Not modding the game is a rule that community likes. That's the only reason it exists. For some people, having the game unmodded isn't enough to consider the playthrough legit. No problem, tastes differ. For different tastes we have different branches. There's too few of branches that complete the game without breaking it? I don't think you'll go ahead and say that. Right now, nothing is taken away from people who like it, even non-game-breaking runs were umobsoleted a few years ago to exist in Moons. What is the real problem then? The fact that people keep creating ACEs? The fact that people keep jumping to credits using TASVideos-approved controller input? Maybe the fact that there's more and more of that, while there's not less and less of the other? Answer and say why.

So the whole claim that they're NOT trying to beat the game as quickly as possible is, quite frankly, silly.
If I modded a game so that it would simply show the end credits when it's started, would you consider that a legit game completion? Would you consider it having "beat the game"? If your answer is "no", then think about the reasons why you think it's not, and perhaps then you'll understand why I don't consider ACE runs to be legit either.

The rule/guideline can really be tweaked while we are at it, just like happened with arcade coins and names. Probably to not cause demotivatin, this movie can be published, and then obsoleted by a run with music, even if it'd be still vault. I think music is one of the major features of Road Rash, so it makes sense to have it.

Do you have a problem with me wanting to talk about some subject with other people, and request for opinions and different views? There are many speedrunners frequenting this forum, and their opinions are interesting. If you are not interested in this particular subject, nobody is forcing you to read the thread.
Sorry, I was just under the impression that if someone is unhappy with something, he is going to try finding solutions for the problem. Maybe it's a glitch in my mind that makes me worry too much and make all these posts with detailed analysis and suggestions. Welp, I was wrong, solution is not required. Thinking is not required either, since it attacks people. Surely it is my failure to first do things that I want others to do as well. Excuse me for derailing your stream of consciousness.

I guess you missed the part where the credits rolled, you know, in the run.
No I didn't. I mentioned right there in my post. If there were a way to trigger arbitrary code execution in the first second of starting the game, and this were used to make the program execution jump to the end credits, would you consider that a game completion? I don't. It didn't complete the game. It showed the end credits. Not the same thing. There would be a really, really easy way to solve all this bickering and stretching the definition of "Moons" beyond recognition in order to accommodate whatever popular demonstration and glitchfest is currently the hot topic: Create the demo category. Keep the definitions of the different categories clear and well-defined.
This sounds like a nice intent, but you can't draw the clear line between "regular people consider this regular legit game completion" and "this just does not complete the game despite of reaching the credits technically". You (or whoever else) can set that line in any way, but there won't be solid common opinion on what really is legit game completion. So while I support Demo introduction fully, I don't think we must throw anything that "regular people don't consider regular" there, simply because it can't be defined once and for all. In my eyes Demo is for things that can't be currently accepted (due to sane tier rules), but are entertaining. Anyway, I'd invite anyone who cares about Demo tier category into the proper thread where I made elaborate posts about it all.

http://tasvideos.org/GamesDoneQuick/AGDQ2016.html This page proves there's a huge lack of explanation in the tasblock. I stated earlier that 100% verification is more important, so that nothing goes wrong any more, so I generally don't think it was anyone's fault that there was so little explanation, but I think this also needs careful consideration for future. Thankfully, we have SGDQ for that sort of things, but it doesn't seem like the general audience cares enough to follow both A and S and understand what's going on, so while still focusing on explanations on SGDQs, future AGDQs also seem to need the some explanations quite badly.

God, I waited for this kind of run for so long... and it's finally there!!! I'm basically speechless, finally a total control that is a playaround and a glitchfest in one. All possible awards to this one please. Oh yeah, instant star, and I even think NewcomerRec as well.
