Seems that the biggest complaint about this run is the obtaining of the sword. Everyone who thinks this, what if he didn't get it and thus didn't complete the game? Would that make it more acceptable? there are two options for this: 1) Get to ganon's room with no sword and die, then end. 2) Get to ganon's room with no sword, and then execute a glitch that freezes the game, no death, no game completion if completing the game is more important there are two more options 3) get to ganon's room with no sword, and die. Then grab a sword and go pwn him and save hyrule 4) get the sword along the way to the final dungeon in order to not have to die and do it all over again. This is what the author chose to do. I personally would have went with #2 But I agree with Lord Tom that any one of these has their pros and cons and shouldn't really affect the true nature of the TAS. Like the author said, he could easily do #1 or #2 if the viewers decide that is more logical to them.

as far as using the sword is concerned, it is well known that ganon can not be defeated without a sword. Anybody who does a swordless quest knows this and the actual completion of this challenge is the entering of ganon's lair. At that point player doing this quest has the option of finishing the game off with the sword or calling it a day but either way the challenge is over. For a TAS this is no different. He doesn't use the sword until the swordless challenge is over, and which point he decided to finish ganon off just to show the game completion for the TAS (since we tend to prefer completed games). Think of this as "bonus coverage"

The problem with redundant threads isn't the lack of concern or the lack of time on mods. It is the fact that this is an ancient phpbb2 forum and mods don't have the ability to merge threads. That has to be done by someone with direct database access, and it is a rather tedious thing to do. All your proposed changes sound great in theory though.

That's a fairly well known glitch. It only works for level 1. If you leave and re-enter the locked door on the top of the first room will become unlocked.

I had somewhat low expectations before watching. I figured once you got the wand early, the run would just be like the any% just using a wand instead of sword. That was not the case. Bombs proved to be far more useful (and entertaining). I love that you completed it with only 3 hearts, and at the last battle you used your last rupee for the silver arrow shot and only had a half a heart to complete the game. The route planning looked very thorough as well as the optimization. On tech quality it seems to be on par with the published movies. For being high quality and entertaining me beyond what I had expected, I vote yes. As far as publication goes, I think this is the most relevant comparison. How do the arguments present against that run apply/not apply here? Discuss.

I agree with these statemetns. And yes, it was Nach. I've already told him I didn't agree with it either. It shouldn't have been rejected so fast (though the vote count was already about 10 no votes and 0 yes at the time), and it should have been given a proper rejection reason (and done by a judge instead of a robot <_<)

this is even better than the version I watched before on youtube. these are the kinds of TASes that are what TASing is about. And this is the kind of out of the box TASing I was hoping to see with DS rerecording. Big yes vote.

Well, there's been a shake up of staff roles & users recently. 1) The role "movie editor' is now more appropriately termed "Vested Editor" as it is no longer a role specific to editing movie entries. Vested editor as all the high level editor privileges including the deleting/moving of pages, and editing of system pages. 2) Queue manager is no longer a user role. It is now split up to Senior Publisher and Senior Judge roles. A senior judge would be in charge of assigning new judges, handling disputes, and being the final say during disagreements. Likewise for for publishers. Senior roles have all the privileges that the queue manager had such as exceeding ratios, deleting submissions, etc. 3) We have an official Starman role now to assign to the user in charge of maintaining the special stars list. This is now formerly granted to Baxter as opposed to simply hardcoding his name into that privilege. 4) Users roles are now combinable. In the case of the previous two, they are intended to add to a preexisting role. 5) sgrunt is now moving from admin assistant to Senior Publisher. He still has site dev duties as well (which will probably become a more formal site role in the future). The admin assistant role is now currently vacant. 6) Darkpsy is now a site dev and is helping with coding/database duties 7) mmbossman will be stepping down to being a regular biased judge. (this isn't a demotion or hard feelings, just a lack of time). That role is now currently vacant. 8) And we have a new judge, klmz

New WIP Sonikkustar is helping out on this one. We redid level 1 and saved about 5 seconds, and have completed level 2. My favorite moment is at 1:37. Dude got pwned.

Speedy rejection, clear violation of site rules.
Which rule does it violate? Also, I do agree that this decision was too fast. And if there was going to be a speedy rejection, then justification for the rejection would be all the more warranted rather than some grue silliness.

In World 1 I noticed a couple of odd choices. Subtitles say that the hammer brothers are manipulated but later they say the hammer brother is unavoidable. So why waste frames manipulating him if you can't avoid him?
You still have to manipulate him to the that square so you can take him out before 1-5 (and thus not have a HB moving around the screen costing time afterwards)
Also, it's mentioned that getting three cards of the same type is bad, which is why you get a flower card as the second card. But the third card is a flower too. Why manipulate the second card if the third isn't going to be a star anyway?
All 3 of those levels will result in a flower if frames are sacrificed. 3 flowers = special 3up animation that costs a lot of time. One of those levels must be manipulated to another card, it doesn't matter which one. We picked the 2nd of the 3 because only 1 frame was need to change it.

AMAZING idea! I'd love to see all Metroid runs treated like that and linked to from the respective movie descriptions. :)

I thought it was cool, and voted yes. I think this is another example of how super hero games tend to lend themselves to good TASing. Super human characters played using super human abilities.

Under the optimization category there needs to be a "failed to beat all known records" one.

I guarantee the special characters are part of the problem. FCEUX doesn't support unicode and GENS probably doesn't either.

Let's narrow down the problem. Down load GENS11 and try to record there and see if you have problems.

I believe the selfish part is in regards to your fans eagerly waiting for the new movie, who don't care at all about his 1 frame anyway. Also, is 1 frame worth tanking your reputation?
