Most of those are probably situations where it was equally fast. Generally I would test with auto-fire and savestate, then attempt to improve. If I merely matched it probably went with the original state. Often the amount of damage didn't need to be optimized like when the HP is 22. The max you can do is 7 so either way you are doing 4 hits and none of them need to do a lot of damage.
I hope that made sense.
Nitro's wip had nothing useful compared to yours. He picked up where you left off but immediately took the wrong route :P So none of his input is represented in this movie.

This should be the publication screenshot!!!
Also big yes vote, excellent Michael Jackson action here. TODO: insert joke about there being different colored Michael Jacksons.

I hope the bullshit attitudes in this thread didn't cause you to think this. Of course you have a right to make the TAS!
EXACTLY. It is funny how bent out of shape people are getting over a video made for fun, on another site.

Marvelous.
Overall though, I'd have to say this has slightly less entertainment value to me than the previous TAS (though slightly).
In particular, I'm sad about Wily 2. Previous movies skipped the refights, then did the "Cutman's magic scissor" glitch. Both of which were full of win and mind boggling. I'm also a bit sad about the mega-zipping in Bombman no longer being there.
However, it still contains many of the elements of the previous TASes I like so much. There's still lots of bizarre magnet beam glitching, pause glitching, ladder glitching, big power-up luck manipulation, awesome zipping, and refight skipping. The ending the level glitch is quite funny, and impressive.
This is still a big yes vote for me, and extremely high ratings upon its eventual publication.
On another note, that ending level glitch is what? one in a million? and it happens 3 times. It isn't manipulating an RNG specifically, but is it a contender for Lucky TAS of the year? No RPG (or any TAS for that matter) to date has ever manipulated something so rare.
EDIT:
Also, the precedent (set by this game in fact) is that bot rerecords don't count towards the final rerecord count. Thus, the rerecord count of this movie should be modified.

EDIT: For those wondering about the rerecord count, I inspected the input file and have concluded that it has been clumsily edited. A .gmv normally has mostly null (0x0) bytes in the header; this .gmv apparently has had them all replaced by spaces (0x20), which often occurs when editing such a file in, for example, some text editors. Accounting for this, the real rerecord count is 1971.[/quote]
Thank you for looking into this. I changed the rerecord count of the submission entry to 1971 (note: I did not change the actual movie file)

We spent a year doing Chapter 1, there is no ETA. As for new routes and tricks, there is a slight change planned in Chapter 2, and a few slight ones in Chapter 5. Other than that it will be mostly better and faster luck manipulation. But who knows what we will find when we get there.
Our chapter 1 is the same route as before but 300 frames saved in less time spent luck manipulating and about +10 Str in levels ups which will probably pay off in Chapter 5

I found sgrunts points far more compelling than Nach's points.
As for me, I didn't find this an entertaining watch. The goal is silly and in itself has no TAS value. It seems like just a good excuse to playaround which is fine except that most of the entertaining playaround possibilities are killed by needing to avoid points. You are left with a very limited bag of tricks that get used too often.
Also, I think the 4 categories, 2 hacks, and 3 smb2j movies show off this engine quite nicely. There are aspects that still haven't been shown but this movie doesn't show them either.
Someone mentioned the idea of playing around to the last second then racing to the end of the level just in time. I think this would have improved the entertainment value of the movie (not enough for me to not vote no, but still, it is a good idea).
That being said, I think HappyLee came quite close to maximizing the entertainment value given his goal choice. I find that commendable.
