definate yes, this run shows a much more polished exploitation of these insane glitches.

gauntlet 2 sucks. plain and simle. since it doesnt end, i dont know how someone would determine when the run was over. The only redeeming aspect would be the fact that the game allows four players. Seeing a run where you control all four simultaneously would be pretty awsome. *The Best vocal: "Red wizard has temporary transportability" Still haunts me in my sleep!

This algorithm looks really promising for future runs. Perhaps you can compile this into some sort of program to make available for time-attackers. It look extremely helpful for comparing various routes.

good video in addition to obviously making sure you get criticals in the boss fight here are some other things i noticed 1) in the cave you didnt take the same route everytime, find the fasest one and stick to it 2) you dont have to talk to the woman before you leave the town, just go straight to alex and talk to him, then go talk to her

the random element is frame oriented just as it is in dragon warrior 1. you could get a critical hit every time even from healie or other NPC's with enough patience. I think that with enough luck manipulation then this run would be much less than 5hrs, maybe 2:30 ish. Ive also looked into making a run of this, I got through chapter 1 and had 2-4 planned out. I'd be very interested to see what you come up with.

if i take the far power point 1st then he will attack (the computer attacks whenever you take all 3 middle powerpoints. He also will frequently summon elemental or freeze the unicorn that i teleported. There is no way to avoid 2 fights. I will experminet with it. it might be quicker to fight at the far powerpoint rather than to try to fight the dragon which takes 4 hits. The reason I chose that the 1st time is that the unicorn has the fastest shots and the quickest recovery.

i just made an experimental run of this game in 1:32. The fight scenes arent fully optimized (i could save a few frames). before tyring to optimize this, i wanted to see if there was any interest in this game and whether there is any chance of a movie of this game getting published. i have a .fcs file of it but i do not know how to post it without submitting a movie. can anyone help?

also, in non glitched runs people stab off of the elevators to get off quicker, there was one opportuntiy to do this in your run i voted yes even though there is room for improvement. id like to see a new version at somepoint though. i agree that this run could possibly go under 7 min! cant wait to see it. it seems that the only reason you get downstab and the glove are to use to break blocks in the last palace. have you tried finding a method of avoiding this? It would be way faster if an alternate route could be found.

When i first got FCEU the sound was totally screwed up and sometimes playing a video caused it to lag periodically. (i was running WinXP). I had a computer disaster and im now on a temp computer (win ME) and everything works fine. I discovered that on my other system, all my emulators where runing about 10-15% too slow. I heard that FCEU doesnt emulate sound well except when running at %100 so maybe this has something to do with it. Anyway, a friend got FCEU and is having the same problem that I had. Has anyone else had this problem? is there a way to fix this?

yeah, its mentioned in the manual. i personally think that the cs strategies are more interesting. they make bizarre situations such as getting knocked down twice in order to make the fastest time

you are totally wrong about the yellow orb on DW3 the various stages of the town are determined by getting partiular items: purple orb, sword of gia, and some others. you dont even need to visit the town periodically. just get the 1st four orbs and the sword of gia. go to the town and repeatedly go in and come out, and the town will be built up each time you enter. no reset is required nor a certain amount of footsteps. The problem with speed running DW3 is that the random generator is different than the other DW's. You can't manipulate luck to get crital hits everytime or to avoid random encounters. Timing does not affect the outcome of events.

amazing, this trick should shave off several seconds from the current video. maybe a sub-8min video?

perhaps you could skip the palace all together, as in previous posts, there might be the possiblity of entering the great palace without completing the other palaces. i tried but my emulator freezes in death mountain so i havent been able to get far enough to try

Thunder even at Level 7 takes 100. This would mean that at a lower magic level you would have to either coordinate more magic pickups, find an alternate route through the Great Palace [Because you won't have enough magic to Fairy AND Thunder on the same life], or die intentionally) there are several red magic container (which refill your magic completely) throughout the palace, most notably there is one in the screen right before the thunderbird. having enough magic in the great palace wont be a problem. Still, finding quick ways to level up your magic at least a little bit would be necessary

yeah you would need all the magic container but only because it requires 120 magic at low levels. getting the containers would be much quicker than leveling your magic to level 8. also i forgot that you would still need the boots in order to get the flute. but still this would be an incredible run!

WOW, i just remembered something back when i was experimenting using the fairy glitch. i considered the possiblility of using it to enter the great palace without beating the previous ones. using game genie and the mega jump code i found a place on top of the entrance that you can use the fairy glitch to enter the palace. the problem was that the only way to get to the top was with the mega-jump codes. CAN THIS GLITCH BE USED TO GET UP THERE? Maybe even with a combo of jump spell and glitches. if someone doesnt try this, I will tonight when i get a chance. If you can find a way up there, i'll try to explain how to get into the palace. This could cut the run down to a couple minlutes. you would just have to get the fairy spell, hammer, and flute, and go straight to the great palace!

what about the jump spell. a no jump, no fairy run would be incredible. not to mention the vast amounts of time saved by not getting the fairy water and the trophy. what about the iron glove? could all the parts that require it be glitched through?
