That won't be necessary. He simply removed empty input from the end of the movie (something that you should get in the habit of doing)

You closed TAStudio (or the whole emulator) while it was minimized. You got bogus data in your config.ini file If you remove your config file, it should work again.

I love the input display in the submission encode :) Obviously I love the run. An improvement to what was already one of my favorite TASes on the site.

[quote="Alyosha" EDIT: oh, and also quicknes core in Bizhawk seems to have trouble with this game for some reason, didn't look too deeply into it though.[/quote] Well, I'd support this feature specifically in NesHawk, for now. But cool, I'll look into doing that soon. It is a feature I wanted to do for awhile now, but wanted a concrete use case first.

So, you can make a faster movie with a different default ram state? If you are willing to do this in BizHawk, I'd be willing to add support for this.

[2555] GBA Advance Wars by Kiske & mtvf1 in 13:33.39 I stumbled on this recently. It is a vault movie with a 6.4 entertainment rating. I rated it a 6 (which on my scale means a solid moon-worthy movie). It only has 5 votes, but none of them are lower than 6 in entertainment. Maybe this is a good moon candidate?

That is a current rule yes, it seemed logical at the time of making the tag. But I don't think it has to be a set in stone rule and we could change it if we have good reason. Movies ideal for newcomers isn't necessarily a subset of movies that are ideal for the Star tier.

I have a suggestion. I noticed several times a biker will come up from behind next to you. Could you manipulate this for the bike to hit you from behind instead, and give a little speed boost?

My concern with SMB3 is that a newcomer might get a misconception of what we are doing. The things they are seeing could be mistaken for rom-hacking or using cheats. Since they would have a primitive understanding of what TASing is, a movie like this might give them the wrong impression. On the other hand, the SMW TAS that turns the game into Pong and Snake is a lot more accessible. Cheats don't turn games into other games, nor is this a logical rom-hack thing to do. It presents the idea in a more accessible way. I voted for the SMW TAS for this reason. I think none is also a viable option. Maybe ACE isn't a thing better appreciated with a mature understanding of what TASing is.

I believe we need invent special rule that playing with sound should be preferable even if it is slower than without it. Sound is significant a part of games. And to accept any runs without sound is just wrong in my opinion. Well, this run will be still very boring even with sound, but not SO boring at least.
It is reasonable to consider that even for the vault we should have sound. But this is such an exceptional case, I don't know if we need a formal rule about this.

But that means it isn't a speed/entertainment tradeoff. It is the correct choice for aiming for fastest time. What speed/entertainment tradeoffs are there?

I had to vote for all souls. Generally I'm resistant to the idea of voting for a game+category that is already an award winner. But this a really impressive work that stands out in the crowd, and is a significant improvement over its predecessor. I had to vote for it.

I voted all-souls here, I think it is a no brainer as the most impressive display of luck manipulation.

The name of the game here is SPEED. Not just the most entertaining TAS of the lot. So to me it is a no-brainer, CD Man. Everything flies at warp speed faster than anyone can comprehend. It is the fastest movie on the site.

I vote we abolish this award, unless there's a year where it makes sense. None of these are funny. They are just good TASes. I voted for none of these.

arandomgameTASer for doing 4 impressive runs, including a spider man TAS that I especially liked. For this I can forgive him for subjecting me to another Burn the Rope TAS :)

Not much to say here, I had to vote for mugg. Though props to TehBerral for Men in Black, and slamo for Pac-in-Time, those were cool TASes.

I rated the Doom TASes higher in entertainment than any others, because they are action packed, and I happen to love Doom and am highly familiar with the levels and speedrunning the game. However, I voted for Metal Gear. It shows a very high level of TASing technique, attention to detail, and doing everything possible to entertain the audience even when it wasn't necessary. I think this is a high quality TAS and most deserving of an award.

I voted for Coca Cola kid. That movie was damned entertaining and very surprising especially for a Game Gear game. It had the most unexpected entertainment value. And I think it deserves this award.
