http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/2187/Gradius.fcm My new gradius run. This is one is by far the most intense ever made. I put this run on hold to wait for a macro feature of fceu (the ability to assign many keypresses to a single key). Miau has been so kind as to patch a basic one (not released yet because it is still experimental. I think this wip demonstrates the potential of this feature, allowing me to do things near impossible without it. Shinyruu should be interested to note that I defeated the boss 6 frames faster than the old version :P enjoy.

Yes. However, I don't think you'd see many math majors get excited if suddenly every job in that particular area became unavaliable. Sure nothing is permanent and they can go back to school and major in something else, but yeah.
pwned.

as far as the TAS potential, I vote yes for lv 1 & 3 and no for the rest. The first level is one of the more interesting/unique for NES games. The game is just a let down from there (except that lv 3 is pretty cool :) ) lv 4 & 5 are just a let down for TASing. too much backtracking in lv 5 and the ledges in lv 4. two questions: lv 4: the bricks that extend out of the wall, could they possibly appear faster if you jumped ot the right to induce them to appear? lv5: are the combinations random? or the same numbers everytime you play the game? If they are random, you should manipulate them to be fast numbers to get to (low or high). The good news is that I think I could vote yes on a more optimized version of this game :) The weird factor and the uniqueness of lv 1 tip the scales in favor of a yes vote.

A yes vote, though barely. My main problem was the insane length of the game. You did a great job optimizing it and making crazy shortcuts yet it was still 42 minutes long. This turned a superb run into a marginal one for me. I had to force myself to finish watching it. There were so many cool shortcuts and great glitches though that it makes up for the long tedious sections.

its not hidden as a queen, I can only move left one square (any other direction or distance registers as an illegal move).

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/2122/BattleChess_bizarrestalemate.fcm Yet another bug in the take back feature resulting in a truly bizzare stalemate.

I just said, I think it's an impossible challenge :)
Me too. Mainly from the small number of eligable games. Odds are, there aren't any "gems" that have some major exploitable feautre, cool gltiches, or insane luck manipulation.

You wouldn't ever do this on a console though. You have to use the search option to find the septor, which takes days of your time. What would really happen is that you fight many villians to uncover the map only to find the damn thing was right in front of the castle to the whole time (what a dumb-ass king, btw).

What does rejecting this run say to the concept of TAS? "complete a game as fast as possible at all costs but if you do it TOO fast then it is boring and will be rejected" And yes, if watching paint dry can be done in 25 frames of gameplay then you got a yes vote from me :p

I don't understand why this should be obsoleted by a shorter run of another game. This is still interesting even if it isn't the shortest run. I also don't understand calling it boring. uninteresting might be an ok description but there is no way I can be bored in only 10sec. Hell, I could watch paint dry for 10sec and not be bored.

I voted yes. I am stunned more than anything. I considered doing a TAS of this game except that I couldn't remember the name of it (used to play it a lot back in the day). Had no idea that it could be done THAT fast O_o. For anyone not familiar with the game, what happened in that TAS is astronimical. This is more a rpg style game that should take many many hours to complete. And it was done in 25 frames of game play.

There's nothing expressly interesting in this movie, because every solution is already predefined by the developers. As a result, every trick is as obvious as it can be. I'd vote yes if you could solve at least half the puzzles in an unexpected way (if the game even allows that; if not, then it's not a good game to TAS). Voting meh.
I agree with all of this.

I enjoyed watching this run. This will not be the last zelda 2 run but it is certainly well planned and executed. Yes vote. I'd really like to see the fairy glitch used since it could shave a few minutes off the run, but alas...

I think Sami was done a run of this game but didn't submit it. Personally I don't blame him. I don't think this game has much TAS value. I highly doubt I would vote yes for even a high quality TAS of it.
