I think ending input as soon as possible is valid and often entertaining.
The controversy is when the earlier input actualy DELAYS the completion of the game (such as SMW). Even then, it not against the rules to do so.

Seems that most agree this isn't a good game choice for TASing.
This game is quite limited. The optimal time is achieved primarily by pressing right and avoiding the occasional enemy. The strategy seems limited in the boss fights as well.
There aren't interesting movements/unorthodox play/insane luck manipulation/route planning/super fast motion/game-breaking glitche/unexpected gameplay or any other key aspect for a good TAS.
So while this movie may be optimized, the game doesn't make a good contribution to the site. I will reject this movie.
The technical quality of the run look promising, I hope the author will endeavor to find a more suitible game choice. Best of luck.

Voted No. There is nothing interesting about this game. It is just running right and occasionaly avoiding enemies. The boss fights are slow and uninteresting as well.
I find this to be a poor game choice.

The discouraging of J & U rom changing was probably a good idea back in the pre-advance days. Perhaps we should update it a bit for "modern" times. I think J and U should be able to obsolete each other freely and be used at the discretion of the author provided that a) There is an actual improvement beyond the rom differences b) care is taken in calculating the exact differences of the rom and changes c) posting clearly in the submission the ACTUAL improvement.
So I vote yes on this run, it is very entertaining and a nice 25secondish improvement (factoring out rom differences).
If someone were to improve upon this run but use the J rom it should obsolete this one.

2-1 done
Vidar discovered a very interesting glitch in this game that allows us to save some considerable time. It involves the chicken. If timed right it will jump and the ball while glover is holding it and both will get "stuck" together and being flying in the air :s
At this point we are 9408 frames ahead of v1.

Well, I checked all the posted times that are faster than the TAS times. All were actual times on the clock. So that doesn't debunk them. However, I still believe them to be fake.

When Bisqwit did his walkathon, it was novel (and for silliness more than anything).
This is a silly idea, do we really need to have multiple runs of this nature?
Also, I don't see what this runs features that isn't already features in the 11-exit, 96-exit, sdw runs, and the upcoming small only mario run.
I vote no.
If the run is published could it at least obsolete the smb walkathon?

The Game:
This is a pretty "meh" game except for the damage boosting & the dog trick. But these things make it a nice TAS. This is an ideal example of taking damage to increase entertainment. It is a limited resource and must be planned for maximum damage taking. The dog trick makes for big shortcuts that separate it from "normal" play as well. Overall I this is a publishable game.
The run:
It is good for the most part but there is a good bit of lag. It looks like sometimes you bypass an enemy or use him as a damage boost but later he is on the far left of the screen and new enemies are appearing causing lag. Had you killed these enemies you could have reduced lag perhaps.
Also, sometimes you kill enemies and they drop coins(?). Is this random? If so you should manipulate it so that they DON'T appear in laggy areas.
This isn't perfect but it is nice. I guess I will vote yes.

rolling a ball over those buttons will not activate them. They can only be activated by hand slamming.
Well, I won't be able to get both over at the same time. Also, I tried different angles to see if I could get the ball to roll off the ledge so I don't have to jump up and get it but I could get that to happen.
I tried hitting the flying enemy with the ball but it does not harm him. Seems that fist slamming is the only way to kill him.
Um, charging bulls? which part is that. I did my best to maintain speed but I won't lie and say I did everything perfectly.
hehe, glad you noticed :)

v2 world 1 complete: 1179 input frames, 3500 real frames ahead.
Some new tricks are added, and a lot more went into optimzation. I definately want to hear any possible tricks that might improve these levels. (preferrably now while it isn't any trouble to redo :P).

Wow, I rated the published run a 10/9. I guess this one gets the elusive 10/10. That is saying a lot coming from a guy as picky as me :P
Easy yes vote, and one of my top 5 favorite runs on the site. It is one of the runs that should be held up as an example of what TASing should be.
The improvements where very nice. I actually noticed the 4 frame improvement in 2-2. You had some very creative ideas and have taken this game up yet another notch.
You are also working on a ninja gaiden 1 improvement too? :O

What an uninteresting game :/
I found overall for the run to be dull from beginning to end, but I do appreciate that is was beaten quite quickly compared to a normal playing of the game. That keeps me from voting no.
I will vote meh instead.

sounds good except that I think the number of movies should be a little higher (7 or possibly 10). Also, co-authored runs should be included as well.
I like the idea that tech rating is used, as that more accurately describes the percieved "expert"-ness of the player.
Also, Phil, Genisto should probably be on the list
Also, while we were dicussing these things, I don't particular feel the need to be "Rewarded" for my hard work. I think this idea could be a nice way to reward players and possibly motive people to contribute more. I also somewhat share JXQ's concerns as well though.
