Note one known bug: the Neo-Geo pocket core was unintentionally classified as not released. It is released though. If will nag you if you try to record a movie but just click ok and ignore it.

Two releases today! BizHawk 2.0 finally released. If you have been following the thread you know what's up. Be sure to run the new prereq installer. BizHawk 1.13.1 also released, for those on pre-Windows 7 OSes. Be sure to read the Release notes for more details.

So, I've been messing around with the rewind function in 1.13.0 and noticed it doesn't work for all cores. Below are the ones I tested: Works -NES -Genesis -PC Engine -SMS -Game Gear -GB and GBC -WonderSwan and WSC (Judgement Silversword failed) Doesn't Work -SNES -Sega CD -PCECD -N64 -PS1 -GBA
Config -> Rewind & States Notice by default rewind is off on cores with larger savestates. This is because there is a performance cost. Turn it on for cores you want and fiddle with settings. Rewind works for all cores. You are just reporting what the default options are here.

So, good things have been happening in the world of BizHawk and some big changes are coming down the pipeline. In the near future (maybe some weeks, maybe some months), we will be releasing BizHawk 2.0! With 2.0 comes a paradigm shift of sorts when it comes to ported cores. We have a new technique that we call "waterbox" that solves a lot of problems with savestate reliability and ease of porting cores (basically we wrap the core and savestate a snapshot of it, thereby ensuring near flawless sync stating and without any need to port exising (bad) savestate logic from the ported core) With the 2.0 release we are looking at some big improvements: * SegaCD and Genesis - Sync stability (mostly sega cd was unreliable but there are existing issues with Genesis as well * SNES - bsnes Sync stability without a huge speed hit * SNES - Snes9x 1.54 ported. Note that bsnes still should be used for serious TASing intended for submission at TASVideos. But snes9x is provided for its performance and decent compatibility for casual gaming, botting, and testing * Saturn - yabause is out, and mednafen's saturn core is in (another example of the power of waterboxing, native mednafen saturn doesn't have savestates yet) * NeoGeo core ported from mednafen (with reliable savestates, unlike the problems that have plauged mednafen-rr) * Virtualboy core ported from mednafen With these great improvements comes some cost however. With BizHawk 2.0 we will not longer be supporting Windows XP or Vista, and Bizhawk will be 64bit ONLY. Also, we've upgraded to .NET 4.6.1. Users will need to run the new prereq installer most likely. This was necessary in order to get the waterbox technique working, and performant. I recognize there are still some users on Windows XP (Not so much Vista). In order to help ease the transition, we plan to do a dual release of BizHawk 1.13.1 and BizHawk 2.0 on the same day. 1.13.1 will NOT have all the new features outlined above but will still have some general fixes and improvements to existing cores. After that, maintenance releases of Bizhawk 1.x will continue for some time as long as it is practical. However, it is unlikely that 1.x will have any new cores in its future.

First of all, you can't run a .nes as a .fds rom anymore than you could run it as a snes rom or a psx rom. 2nd of all, FDS is the Famicom Disk System, a console add-on only released in Japan. There would not be USA versions of this game. 3rd of all, I modded your post to take out objectionable content

ok, I watched this run on Bizhawk and tried a little for done me an idea. I have a question for you, why don't take the trainies shoes when the game started? Indeed when i take and uses this item, speed increased considerably and I think than make a detour is more faster than walk slower! This item make you fast move and don't take damage in some situations. Not voted, I wait an answer.
I tested that strategy. The shoes don't last very long though. It ends up being some seconds slower overall.

Use just "LOAD" when it is a tape game. If you see press play on tape you did the wrong commands. There is no button to press. Sounds like you typed just LOAD on a disk which isn't the right command.

BizHawk crash course: just no. Hotkeys are remappable in the Hotkey config. Also, Key priority is an essential feature with a core like this. In Config -> Key priority and also an icon in the status bar. The icon you can simply click to toggle the state. I also added a hotkey for toggling. If you set it to gamepad, and press T in your example it will type T and not open the toolbox.

Works for me on 1.12.2 and latest master. Please provide more info

(For future reference mention what system/core you are using. This was specifically a bug when loading a state on frame 0 on the SNES core (bsnes compatibility profile)) Fixed in master.

I think this technique is cool as hell. Pausing to speed up load times, I love the counter-intuitive. For me this isn't controversial at all. Also, I get the impression this is something that could be done to other SMS games as well?

Okay better example. I fixed it so that if it doesn't know an extension it assumes ROM.
2. Repeat steps - Config - Controllers - P1 A: Space, OK - Config - Input - Frame advance: Space, OK - Config - Key priority: Hotkeys overrides Input
Okay, the feature specifically doesn't work for frame advance. (Possibly other similar keys like rewind, fast forward, turbo)

I voted yes, since I was entertained (You had me at Batman). But I would much prefer to the good ending. It just one more fight, and we have to watch it for that long anyway, I'd rather see some action, not a lame intentional loss for the sake of lowering the input frames. Imo, this is moons material. I would strongly urge you to consider going for the best ending and entertaining your audience a little bit better.

I replaced the movie file with a 972 frame improved verison. Turns out that in the dinosuar glitch, you can use Exit instead of quit and it will actually complete the level. The new route saved 942 frames. In the process of resyncing the run I also saved about 30 frames on the final boss due to getting a better RNG pattern (when does that ever happen!). Unfortunately it means no need for the furnace glitch which was my favorite part of the run. Oh well. This trick was of course found by wesen. Much thanks, yet again :)

Did you see the controller configuration menu item in the Intellivision menu?

I was actually going to TAS this game, you beat me to it. I'm glad it got TASed and was the basis for why I pushed for Intellivision support. I voted yes but I have huge bias here. This game was actually the first video game I ever saw, as a very young child.
