This. If you can show how to use a wall jump to get above the screen, then you have a time saver. Otherwise, the way it is done in the WIP (and published movie) is best.

Hmmm, yes that makes sense. But I think its too late for me to change emulator versions at the moment.
Well, if you don't go back and redo using a lag free emulator, it opens up a window for someone to come along and obsolete your movie.
Meh. It isn't like the lag free emulator is emulating any better. It is removing some lag that shouldn't be there as well as some that should. If all someone can do is remove the lag, that isn't an improvement. I'll reject that real quick. Also, the lag should only be in the overworld, so levels can be copy pasted easily. So it wouldn't be hard to convert a movie to a new emulator version (if all that is different is lag).

It is a known bug. It isn't specific to any one page. The only cure is to delete your (tasvideos) cookies. That will fix it (until it happens again). For me it is the user editor that is prone to this bug. I currently have no idea what is the cause of it.

Any chance that the lua script could be modified to also include hyper sonic screen flashing? :)
I can't believe that I watched the whole movie without tthe help of the script to remove those boring things. I need to rewatch it again with an improved lua script in order to vote for it. And I demand this movie be published using that script.
The idea of voting on something based on watching it with boring stuff removed irks me. Even more so at the idea of publishing it in such a state. If a movie needs a lua script to remove boring content, that sounds like a good candidate for rejection, not special modification.

I was using 9.2+ but I think it syncs with 9.4 (but not 9.4+)

So the goal here is to obsolete the current published TAS? If so, are you aware that I am(was) working on an improvement? http://code.google.com/p/adelikat-tas/source/browse/#svn/trunk/NSMB I got stuck trying to manipulate the movements in world 5, that is a terrible pain there. Then I got busy and haven't had a chance. If you aren't done within the next 4-6 weeks, I would love to collaborate. Otherwise feel free to use any of my WIPs and good luck. An improvement is long overdue.

Congrats to Omnipotententity our newest publisher. Also, in the past month or so I have cleaned out a lot of old users from the staff, including moderators, editors, publishers, etc. None of these people had done a bad job or abused their privileges in anyway. I want the staff page to reflect active members who are currently contributing. There for I am instituting a "Use it or lose it" policy. Inactive account will periodically be "demoted. If anyone wants their status restored, all they have to have is the desire to contribute and to ask me for said status. I hope there is no hard feelings on this decision as that wasn't the intention.

You should use V21 for this run.

Ok, I guess I'll be the one with the guts to say it. I think 1 million is grossly overestimated. Perhaps it is a very high number because these guys have been working hard for 2 years and have managed to scrape every frame possible. But based on my experience and the rerecord counts of other movies on this site, I'd say 300-400k is more accurate. I'd rather have 1337 than something that over-reports the true value as something absurdly record breaking. In the end though, the rerecord count of a movie is at best an estimate. Perhaps we shouldn't worry too much it as a stat since it has already known to be a false count in so many situations.

This movie settles the real time vs in-game time debate the real man's way! In fact this is one of the manliest movies on the site! 2nd only to small only SMW.

Co-authored runs are routine here. And in no cases do they need to create a new account.

You can open it. FCEUX gives a warning, but if you click OK, it plays just fine. I am not sure that is a time saver in that instance. But at least for a warpless run, there has to be places to exploit it. All I have to say is "Holy crap! Nice find."

http://www.crispygamer.com/features/2009-02-16/if-these-bugs-are-wrong-i-dont-want-to-be-right.aspx I think this is a cool article and seems relevant here. Is 007 373 5963 a cheat or a trick? Also, on the topic of Punch-out, the clock stopping glitch. For me it is a natural part of standard play now.

I think this was a neat run. I vote yes. Also, the vote to post ratio for this submission seems off.

Newbie corner is a good place for this, especially since that exact Ram Search tool is in no less than 7 rerecording emulators at this point. As far as using it, that's not easy to explain. Basically it is designed to weed out values you know aren't the one you are looking for. Let's take Mario's in level position for example. First you want to set it to search for 4 byte values (which requires a little knowledge of DS beforehand to know). Then you want to start a search by clicking search. Move to the right some. You know know that mario's position is greater than it was before. So select "previous value" then click greater than. Do this a few time and it should weed a lot of possibilities out. Try running to the left some, and do a less than search. At some point you will limit it down to a manageable number of possibilities. From there, simple monitor the behavior of these values and one of them should be what you are looking for. Also note that often there are several values that serve the purpose.

When doing our warpless SMB movie I spent many hours attempting the following things: 3-2 inside floor improvement verdict: impossible to save time 3-3 using elevator to get in floor verdict: impossible using a cheap cheap to get in floor verdict: impossible All of these have been done by HappyLee at this point. Wow.
