I'm talking about the downloadable version, specifically. Come on, it's an EXE file (isn't it?) And I don't see why Hourglass wouldn't be able to run it. Besides, imagine seeing the Black Mage or Megaman in a combo match.

So, I have two XBox 360 controllers that I got to work with my laptop, and I use them to play on my rr emulators. Now suppose I was going to TAS a two player game of River City Ransom, for example. How would I go about such using controllers and not the keyboard? I already know: - Make 1P and 2P directions the same for one part - Save states for optimization I suppose it'd be a bit difficult but not impossible. Suggestions?

I don't think you can submit a TAS of Garry's Mod because it doesn't run in any TAS emulators yet. That shouldn't stop you from making it and having a blast making TASes, but, for example, a Doom TAS using the built-in demo recording and playback feature currently isn't allowed either.
It doesn't need a TAS emulator. I use host_timescale 0.1 to slow it down to slowmo, and record the demo with that. Then, before playback I host_timescale it back to 1.0 and then play it back, the end result is a small TAS! Also, I'm not going to worry about submitting to the site itself just yet, what I think I'll do is upload a few test runs to YouTube and link you guys to them. Hope you don't suffer motion sickness :P

I've decided to go through with my first ever submission to TASvideos. If you remember in my post about TASing Garry's Mod, I went over various goals and plots for TASing. Well, now I present to you, the first in a line of Garry's Mod TASes, GMod Insanity Reflex! Clever name, might I say. Here's how it will work; I figured I could submit it like any other TAS video, except with goals that I determine myself. For example, Fastest Antlion Guard Down, gm_bigcity Time Attack, Fastest makeshift car, or anything else that could be done fast. I call it Insanity Reflex because you move so quickly when played back at host_timescale 1 it looks like you're on crack cocaine, and the Reflex part refers to doing everything so fast. To kickstart, I'll need some ideas. Anyone?

Back in 2013 (or 2012) I posted about TASing Half Life 2 with Source engine's host_timescale command, then I realized, there are other games that run on the Source Engine and they use the same command! So when I installed Garry's Mod I decided to test-TAS a game in FlatGrass, just to see if it would work, and it did! One teeny tiny problem; Garry's Mod is a sandbox game, and doesn't have a campaign mode. BUT....through the use of user-generated maps, your imagination and a bit of hand-eye coordination, you could set up your own goals and TAS race to complete them. Kind of like the Mario hacks popping up everywhere on the internet. Here are some examples of TAS goals you could do that I thought up - Ball Hunt: Race to find X amount of Bouncy Ball entities in as little time possible - Hoard: Try to survive a hoard of enemies you place around the map (NOTE: they have to be placed so that the hoard is difficult) - Prop Hell/NPC Hell: Prop Hell; Props are placed around the map as an obstacle course with a specific goal at the end. Goal: Play through the course and achieve said goal. NPC Hell: Everyone's trying to kill you. The end. - Loan Shark: In an RP map (or at least something like gm_bigcity) innocent, harmless NPCs are placed in areas you define. They owe you money and they refuse to pay. When you place yourself at whatever starting point, you must equip a pistol, locate them and kill them all. Dialogue optional. - Build Attack: Race to build something as fast as possible. - Time Attack X: Similar to Prop Hell....except you are not allowed to use weapons! - Hoverboard It: Using Robtoboy85's Hoverboards mod, skate on a hoverboard to a predefined goal. Tricks optional. - Playaround: Self explanatory; do what TASvideos is famous for: messing around with glitches and stuff. These are just ideas but I think they'd be fun to watch. Eh, it's up to you guys though. What do you think?

Merry Christmas, TASVideos! PUSH START TO PRESENTS! Now with all that crap out of the way, the subject. I'm planning to do a full, 100 percent run of Zelda OoT in Mupen64 (rerecording version) but I never understood how to "save" movies so I can edit them later, say, in case I'm in the middle of TASing and I need to stop the movie to go somewhere, for example, but say I want to come back later and add to it. How exactly would I do that? I know it sounds like a newbie question but I haven't really been TASing that long :P Any help is thanked!

After the NES playaround with two players, which had me rolling on the floor holding my guts in from laughter, I found this cool remake of the game on the Game boy Advance. It's actually a lot better than the NES version in terms of gameplay and graphics. What do you guys think? Would a GBA run of this game work?

I've been working on a 4-Player Smash bros. playaround, but I'm planning to do more than just your average glitching and zipping and whatnot; I found a few ways to wavedash in the N64 version, looked up a glitch that gets your opponent up to 999 damage, and a few others. And since this version kinda doesn't have a story mode, I think it would be ideal for an N64 TAS (I know one of N64 Smash bros. has already been done, but one of my most favorite flavors of TAS is playaround.) What do you guys think?

I know it may sound like a really dumb question (mainly because I'm not as skilled or trained in TAS as many people are on this site) but I've seen a lot of TASes with Heavy Glitch Abuse (the one that REALLY got me intrigued was the one of Zelda 2 where Link was bouncing everywhere like a sweaty dodge ball) and I'm intrigued. I don't really know if it involves editing addresses or anything or just simply doing something in the game, but if anyone's got any tips, please let me know. Thanks in advance!!

So I got JPC DOS emulator, and I tried to open it so I could try a TAS of King's Quest V. One problem. IT WON'T START. I right clicked, tried to open with Java, absolutely NOTHING happened. I don't know what's wrong. Any help would be appreciated, or if all else fails I'll just look for a version of DOSBox that supports rerecording or something. Thanks!

I got to thinking that one game I know hasn't been TASed here is GEX. OH. MY. GOD. I played the absolute SHIT out of this game as a kid when I had it on Windows 95. Well I figured, why not TAS it on PS1? Think it would be a good idea? It's an awesome game, you'd guys would love it. "I'M HUNGRY, DAMMIT!" Now all I need is a PS1 emulator...[/b]

As there are some games that use the SNES Mouse (which is IMO one of the COOLEST accessories for the SNES), I thought it might be fun to see what it would look like if said accessory had superhuman percision, I.E. in Mario Paint, drawing pixel art flawlessly, or in Mario and Wario all the obstacles and etc. are already out of the way. Any ideas?

I figured I might as well start my evolution from TASing puzzle games on the NES to games on the N64, and where else better to start than Zelda? I need some tips for doing this. My first attempt was on OoT about a year ago; the one thing that slowed me down was navigating menus because since I was using a TAS input plugin, moving the cursor required a lot of clicking, dragging, then frame advance, etc. Then the hard part for me was actually playing the game. I remembered how side-jumping is faster than just running, but the problem is I don't really know any time-saving glitches or tricks. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I've seen some of the submissions on here that TAS a game with two, three, four and even FIVE players. How exactly is that done? I've actually managed to TAS some VS matches on puzzle games like Tetris 2 and Puyo Puyo on NES but it wasn't particularly easy. But I thought of maybe TASing a four player game one time, so any help I could get would be appreciated. Thanks!

Would it be possible to TAS multiplayer games on VBALink? I was thinking something like Advance wars in a 2 Player match or TLOZ: Four Swords with all for Links. I think it would happen if you tweaked some stuff a bit.

I agree. It would be nice if we could at least act somewhat like grownups from time to time, like when someone with a disability asks a question related to their disability. People who have disabilities get enough of this kind of nonsense (as well as people who think they can "help", by "training the weak leg"). It's really just not funny, not helpful, and it's extremely immature.
Really. So if people are bad at something, they should be protected from that thing? If people are bad at socializing, please don't try to socialize with them? That's being mean and inconsiderate to them? If people are bad at detecting sarcasm, don't ever confront them with sarcasm? If your foreign cook-housekeeper is bad at grammar, let's talk like this to them "You clean windows later and making dinner, OK?", at least don't use complex sentences. This is being very mature and considerate to them! Then wonder how it is that they never improve. I refuse to treat anybody with Asperger's as anything less than a normal person. I use sarcasm with normal people. People with Asperger's are not incapable of detecting it. Sarcasm is real. It exists in this world. I don't get why you think it's mature to protect people from it. I get offended if people disagree with me and I'm very bad at arguing, so would you please maturely refrain from arguing with me? Thanks. Oh that's different, because Asperger's is a real disability and me being bad at arguing isn't? What if science finds out I'm not just being bad at arguing, indeed some area in my brain associated with arguing is a lot smaller than in average people, quite a few people are affected by it, and so then they give this condition a name? Then it's a disability? Taxi drivers have bigger hippocampuses because they make more use of them. Maybe just arguing more with me would cure me? Shouldn't we at least give it a go? No, I need to be protected from getting this chance. (Not claiming Asperger's works the same way, it doesn't seem to, as far as we know) Asperger's is defined over its symptoms. If you have lots of them (and had them at an early age), and none of the candidates for a differential diagnosis apply, you have Asperger's. Its symptoms include being worse at some things than people who don't have it. Its symptoms are not being unable to socialize ever and they aren't being unable to detect sarcasm. It's also a developmental disorder, so yes, people with that condition cannot be cured, so my opposition has a point, but again, they can become a lot better at the things they are bad at with training! To a point where they can indeed detect sarcasm most of the time and indeed read most facial expressions, intonation and body language correctly when conscious effort is applied. But surprise! This can't happen unless they are confronted with it! I get very upset about this because the idea of protecting people from the things they are bad at seems just very insane to me, and even cruel. Oh, he's got dyslexia, let's be considerate and give him less reading assignements than the rest of the class. Let's send a mail to all of our friends, but him I'll phone, so he doesn't have to read, which he's bad at. I think the more sane approach is to make him read more, so he could get to a more normal level and ultimately have less difficulties in everyday life, but maybe you think that's an immature approach. Maybe you think it's more mature to keep reading his emails to him because we should be considerate. Please explain to me how your logic is more mature, I doubt you can. Males naturally have better spacial visualization abilities than females. So let's protect females from having to park their cars into difficult spots. If you see a female having trouble at it, don't hesitate to offer her help. In fact, let's not even make them try. We shouldn't expect them to perform as well, so let's be considerate and give them less practice in driving lessons, we mustn't be so demanding. Let's never make them practice, since they are naturally worse at it! Not the best analogy, but maybe now you get where I'm coming from, since I know you are very pro-feminist, and if I were female, I'd find the above very insulting. I didn't bring it up to derail the topic any further, so please let's not. I submit once again that people with Asperger's don't have to be protected from sarcasm. We should treat them like normal people.
Kuwanga, It is very considerate for you to recognize the condition that people like me have, and I just want to say, thank you so much for doing that and defending our difficulties. I never really noticed how caring the people at TASvideos.org were until I saw your post. Generally, I have many difficulties I have to face from time to time, and sometimes when I go to school and deal with them, people start to think I'm "retarded" or "mental". What they don't realize is that my brain is telling me to reconfigure myself so I can better deal with these kinds of things. I try to tell them, but they don't understand. It's really amazing to see that there's someone out there that has seen these things and actually cares rather than criticizing the latter. You guys truly are nice people. You know, we should have some kind of Asperger's Recognition day or something? I don't know, it's adelikat's site. I hope to become great friends with you in the future. I was thinking Super Scribblenauts for the Nintendo DS would be an awesome choice for something like a Playaround, since well, you can summon ANYTHING you can think of. I've already done a few but the AVI's turned out like shit. But, by way of following submission rules, I was wondering if Super Scribblenauts would be a good idea? I mean, there's no submissions of it on the site...... is there?

Lol. Well what I meant was, record a demo in slowmo, but then play it back after recording, in real time, but use something like Fraps to record a video of the demo.
What would be done is people would want the demo file(s) to verify what you did. We don't allow pre-encoded videos as submissions. WIPs, sure.
Ah, okay. Didn't think about that. Here's the link to my TAS Test run of HL2.
