dwangoAC, to clarify on my donation incentive suggestion. The standard Gauntlet race will be 4 laps. The incentive could be for 5 laps.

I have a bunch of Nintendo swag from E3 2001 that I think someone may like to have. Things like foam GameCube, GBA, GameCube back back and various press releases. Does that seem interesting? As for a donation incentive. We could have one for adding an extra lap on the Kart 64 Gauntlet. I could have both movie files ready.

Wouldn't angling the ramp convert horizontal speed to vertical?

Is it maybe possible to do that pole zip trick without pressing A? What really causes that to occur?

Sonic packer, I really appreciate the work you have been doing on these Mario Galaxy TAS' and that Whomp fight is very entertaining :) Please keep up the great work and keep sharing as your work is appreciated. As for this strange argument going on. I'm thankful when progress and videos are shared here. My only challenge is when direct links to nicovideos are posted I don't have a way to view them and I hate missing out.

I've just completed a significant update to my Kart 64 Automatic Transmission tool and plan to stream tomorrow at around 2pm EST. By popular demand I plan to spend some time TASing LR 3-lap non-sc. I hope to see you at twitch.tv/weatherton

Does this still require Windows XP? I have Windows 7 and really want to try to TAS this game: http://www.gnarlygames.org/GnarBikeTrials/GnarBike%20Flash.html

I disagree, I play all of my GameCube games on my Wii because it has faster load times and inexpensive component cables. Playing GameCube games on the Wii is a completely legitimate way to play them and probably the way that 90%+ of people have played GameCube games in 480p. If you're trying to emulate hardware limitations, you might as well emulate the best hardware IMHO.

My 2 cents: Since the untouched original game is not very actively being TASed ast the moment and the 2-player hack is basically just two player mode for the original game, I think this is the right place to be giving updates about these. They certainly seem more appropriate here than with Star Road and other full on total conversions. Alternatively you could start a new thread, but I don't think that's worth doing.

An odd think I noticed is that my script picked up 1,536 questions instead of 1,480 (or 1,976) mentioned by the faq. I guess it is possible a human could only encounter so many.
I noticed that some questions are duplicates with slightly different answer sets. Maybe that's the difference?

Super Mario Star Road is amazingly polished and really stands up well next to the original. I think Super Mario 74 would also make a good TAS.

dwangoAC, here is my description you asked for: Title: Mario Kart 64 Choco Mountain Gauntlet Challenge Description: An N64 TASbot controls players 1 - 4 for a 3 minute setup routine, moving the levels boulders to new, harder locations. While moving these, it also places banana peels and shells throughout the level in difficult locations before placing all four players on the starting line. The TASbot is disconnected and four experienced human players are given controllers and challenged to run the gauntlet!

Jabo support is so amazing. Now BizHawk is truly the best N64 TASing platform. Congratulations micro500, your efforts are very much appreciated.

dwangoAC, would the TASers know which console the game will be on first? Adjusting to new tools takes some time.

DwangoAC, thanks for initiating a formal submission for TASvideos and just overall being a cool guy. I'm looking forward to seeing you again at AGDQ. I thought it would be fun to give some more background on the Mario Kart Choco Mountain idea to give a feel for what the idea is and how people may react. At an annual Mario Kart 64 / Goldeneye meet that I host one of the early round matches was spiced up a bit when someone happened to hit the first boulder on its first bounce with a star. This resulted in the boulder bouncing over the lake it normally falls into and then bouncing around the level for the rest of the level: http://www.twitch.tv/theelitegaming/c/4781939 The reaction was great and many long-time Mario Kart 64 players were surprised by what happened. As it turns out, this is something that Myles Bukrim had demonstrated in a 2009 Youtube video: Link to video The day after the "Boulder Incident" that everyone loved so much, I began TASing the level to see if I could get other boulders to bounce around the level. As it turns out, there are at most three boulders that can spawn and they each spawn from a unique location. The first boulder is easy to get to bounce around the track. The other two require some significant acrobatics involving 2-4 players playing "catch" with the boulders to get their angles right (since only the terrain influences their angle). This process turns out to be difficult but possible. The result is that I can repositition all three boulders throughout the level to be bounding repeatedly and unpredictably on course sections that normally do not have boulders. Using a four-player games, I can reposition these boulders (while throwing bananas and shells for good measure) and then place all four players at the starting line to establish an unpredicable and challenging scenario for people familiar with the game. For reference, here is a picture of two re-positioned boulders:
