>I was under the impression that Pokemon Blue and Pokemon Red are two different games. They are, but I don't think the differences are big enough to warrant two versions either. I think obsoleting was a good choice. I didn't get the idea behind the screenshot either. Isn't ember just one of Charmander's regular moves? Why is it a good description for this run? If noone objects, I'll switch it for the one Primo suggested.

Wow, great game choice. Mayhem and chaos all around. I had only played this game on flash before, at http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/59593 for anyone interested. The first subboss can be done faster, yeah. You didn't use the charge move or the grenades, probably they can speed it up. There's also a riding + headbite move with down+jump which you could show off some time when the game waits to scroll anyway. I'm playing normal and for some reason I just can't seem to die. I must have died tens of times at the bosses and still no game over. >Because I got sick of the idiocy. Pah, come on now. I think you have been to online communities before. The squabble here is small compared to most places I've been to.

Watched it, loved it. Nothing further. Didn't see anything strange. >That way someone could use the info to make a Super Metroid page if there was demand for it (kind of like in the Super Demo World submission). I'm sure there is demand for it. You could make it yourself as you go along. Don't you have editor rights? If not you can get them. Or I can put it up if you write it.

Perhaps German names are different then. I can determine if a family name is Swedish or not quite easily, because most of them fit into three large groups. Schmidth is Schmeid, yes (compare to Smith in English). And Kohl means cabbage, doesn't it? Brandt exists in Swedish too, meaning steep. Otherwise I'm kind of lost... but the ones you listed seem to consist of German phonemes, at least. Or maybe not Simonis. Meh, I don't know, it's your language, YOU deal with it. ;)

@Highness: Accepted movies are listed on the submissions page, so if it's at the bottom of the Workbench forum doesn't matter that much. I don't think a new board or anything is necessary, but perhaps it would be nice to only list accepted submissions ( ?type=accepted perhaps ) or only submissions with whatever status really (type delayed would also be nice). At the moment only new, own, all and unfinished are available. @JXQ: But it was Shakespeare's choice of words originally so I'm home free, yay.

Hehe. I can't quite figure out if that was mocking me or not. But since JXQ is such a swell guy, and also for the sake of my own ego, I'm guessing the latter. Perhaps I should have said "regular users" instead of people, but meh. Shakeyspear said people and I wanted to make the comparison clear.

And I was just about to nag you about updates. Now I won't have to. :) I'll watch it and comment on it when I get home.

Bisqwit> My intention, with the maintainment of this site, has been to keep the pace between releaseless days in 1-3 days. I don't have any statistics to back it up, but I think that we on average receive more submissions now than we did in the past. If we want to keep that number (releaseless days) constant, either the rate of rejection must go up, or we will build up a backlog of movies that are not encoded/judged. Is either of those really desirable? I would rather publish movies more often, as long as they are all good quality movies. As it is, there seems to be a big frustration and dissatisfaction over movies stuck in the queue (which should really be called something else, because it's not a queue). Not just josh, a lot of people have said this, me included. >... I'm generally much more likely to encode a "hot topic of day" movie than "Sega movie from last autumn that has been accepted". Something bothers me with this statement. Probably mostly that you said "Sega movie" (why should this be a factor?), but also that it's "from last autumn" should be a factor towards getting it encoded faster rather than the other way around. How is delaying it even more possibly a good idea? >The biggest amount of movies published in a single day so far is 7 (at 2004-06-25). Doesn't have anything to do with this discussion, but I couldn't see any published movies this day. Pweisger> Please consider it. (WL4) As I wrote in that topic, I would consider it if only I could watch it. I'm open to suggestions. Shakespeare> And a suggestion: There should be a topic for --> Submission which should be publish (where people can point out the sumissions) Judges decide which submissions to publish, not people. There is however a topic for "Sumissions which Truncated should judge", and it's exactly the one you're currently looking at.

>In a related question, what makes a certain name a "German" name or a "Russian" name or anything like that? As opposed to being an imported name? Fitting into the language's morphology as moozooh said is probably a good start. If the meaning of the name is unintelligible to a native speaker of that language, that's also a good pointer. (But this requirement doesn't fit well with first (personal) names and I can't really say why.) Also, we are horribly off-topic and it's my fault. Sorry.

>I just don't "get" encoding. =( The people on IRC can probably help you. A post in General would work too, only slower responses. I would like to judge this, but I obviously can't when I can't even view the movie file. So, could someone help me out? For example by encoding a low-quality AVI. I'm open to other ideas too.

>Because none of our judges have a similar craving for Sega videos as they have for NES videos... I do. Genesis is probably my favourite system out of those available here. But primarily I try to work trough the big backlog of submissions we have. >Time for more judges. :P Currently there are a few runs which have been sitting on Accepted status for a while without anyone encoding them. Perhaps we should get more encoders first.

Zurreco>What is with all of those random shots, though? Fusion submission>There are a lot of times when I fire a seemingly random shot, but each of those shots actually has a purpose. Turning around is faster if you shoot 1 frame after pushing the opposite direction, and I can't come out of a flip after doing a wall jump unless I shoot.

Excuse me for saying it, but that has to be the weirdest name I've ever seen. :) Do you know what a Tjäder is in Swedish, even though you don't speak it? Hint: bottom right

>all other videos i've been watching that are not tool-assisted were actually performed in real time, correct? because ive got a bunch of those type of videos and i just wanna make sure. Which are all these other videos? * Movies from this site (Nesvideos) are ALL tool-assisted. * Movies from SpeedDemosArchive.com and most other places are usually played in real time. Hope that helps.

Fixed the text and classes, let me know if there's something else with that. I did not fix the screenshot, but I agree that one of yours would be better. Pick one.

I have the same problem as JXQ. I'd like to watch this since a lot of people have complained that it haven't been published yet even though it's good enough to be.

Have you read http://tasvideos.org/HexEditing.html ? I'm not good at it, myself, but I'm sure there are people who can help you. Problem would be that enemy actions are probably randomized on more than player input, so they would behave differently from last time and the thing will go out of sync.

That info is in DesyncHelp, though, because I put it there. I don't see why it should be an issue since every submission has (requires, even) the ROM version to be specified, and the movie entries have that info in the header as well. The GoodWhatever sets keep track of ROMs you dumped yourself with the (U)-(J)-etc. specifications too. I don't see the harm in helping people with it.

I have to ask TigerTjäder... how come you say your first language is Portugese, others English and Spanish, but you have a user name which can only be interpreted in Swedish (as far as I can see)?

Yes, it is, but the single unexplained no-vote tend to go ignored by the judges anyway.

>Is it possible to make phpbb force you to post when you vote? Bad idea. Most people vote yes or no for the same reasons as everybody else who voted so. We don't need 20 "Yes: this movie was entertaining" posts for every submission. It makes it harder to find the posts where someone actually has something new and relevant to say.
