This hasn't been fixed; the movie time is still using 60FPS. This game has a Brazil release but the movie desyncs about a minute in.

This might not be worth the effort to address but there are slightly different names used everywhere. Firstly, they're called both Platforms and Systems on the site. I think these have slightly different meanings and I don't know which one best describes what we have. Here are some lists of platforms: I recently updated Platforms and EmulatorResources to match Systems as best as possible. I would be inclined to follow Wikipedia's article names. They tend to have already discussed/argued over the best display name, though their needs may not match ours. For example https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Famicom will redirect to SNES; we instead list both names on Platforms (but not on Systems). On another note, having so many different pages with platform lists makes updating a bigger task, but this is only needed every few months or so. My plan down the line would be a separate page for each system, listing the emulators available, the best options, any nuances to note for submissions, game lists, as well as any other useful information.

Has anyone tried re-encoding this? Kind of odd to have a stars publication only in 720p.

Originally near the end of the movie I ranked up unintentionally, so I copied the inputs over to a new SRAM, which is why the rerecord count is 4. The original one says 417 rerecords.

Does anyone else find there to be poor contrast on dark mode between the background and foreground colors of teletype text? Check out Wiki: GameResources/NES/WizardsAndWarriors3 or Wiki: TextFormattingRules#Emphasis as examples. Pink on dark grey doesn't stand out well, IMO. It's OK under light mode, but the site defaults to dark.
It fails contrast check. The pink is a Bootstrap default.

Sami's TAS syncs on FCEUX with the correct (bad) ROM. Don't know if that's what causes the graphical glitches on Fu Manchu Burns. Link to video There's some things to compare between this and the other TAS, particularly in North Pole, assuming the correct ROM plays the same.

TASVideos now supports 56 platforms/systems. Just finding games to TAS for some of them can be a challenge. There's no definitive criteria for what counts as obscure here, it's mainly just platforms that aren't on Wiki: ListOfIdeas and don't have a wishlist thread. Just going to link game lists for now, finding good TAS options needs a deeper look. 32X: 40 games (6 are CD 32X) BS-X (Satellaview): 231 games (116 listed) Doom: 421 Megawads listed here. I'm not familiar enough with Doom to know where best to find level sets and if they're all TASable. DSi: 117 DSiWare games Jaguar: 50 games (+more homebrew) Jaguar CD: 11 games (+homebrew?) macOS: Don't know where to start with this one. Needs to be a macOS game that can be ported to Linux. 64DD: 9 games. Most seem to be Mario Paint? PC-98: 1228 games. No idea about compatibility with Neko Project II. PC-FX: 62 games. Most of these are dating/visual novel games. SGX: 6 games SVI-3x8: 130ish games TI-83: Various sites around. Is TI-83+ supported? TIC-80: Some games here and here Uzebox: List VBoy: 22 games VEC: 28 games (+lots of homebrew) Please feel free to suggest other qualifying platforms, resources to find games (speedrun.com is one), or specific games.

I started a spreadsheet here. It's adapted from this list. Documenting every AVGN game reviewed is quite a lot of work. The spreadsheet needs the games separated into rows and then a link to TASVideos's game entry.

The score counter at the end sounds horrible. Is it skippable with an alternate movie for publishing?

My sorta plan currently is to make almost everything parents and subpages to take advantage of the site map and built in subpage lists. Pages related to a given topic would be Topic/X. Example: Judging/JudgingGuidelines I haven't really gotten started on moving stuff around yet, mainly because updating links is kinda a pain but it's definitely something to keep in mind.
This has been on my mind for a while. I have a PR for a redirect module which works but is badly implemented. Redirects will allow moving existing pages without breaking any links on other websites that we can't change. More subpages may or may not be the best way forward. Wikipedia used to use them in the main article space but no longer do. There's a good explanation here. For a (fictitious) TASVideos example, the BK2 article could be classed as "Emulators/BizHawk/BK2", or "Emulators/MovieFormats/BK2". Neither of these are very easy to remember and you'd want "BK2" to redirect to the proper page. Alternatively, you could call the article "BK2", and have it in categories "BizHawk" and "Movie Formats". I don't suppose we have the manpower to implement a category system at the moment, but it's something to consider before diving head-first into subpages.

Some misc stuff I don't have anywhere better to put. Wiki: SiteTechnology is a TODO. We already have Wiki: SiteCodingStandards which is very similar and could just be adapted. Wiki: Helping and Wiki: Contributions are similar. Former is linked from home page. Wiki: DesyncHelp and Wiki: DesyncHelpTAS cover slightly different topics.

Regarding this change itself, there are two questions that need to be answered IMO: 1. Are all currently published SGB movies better label as GB instead of SGB? The exact line before GB and SGB labels can be up to debate later but all of those VBA ones literally couldn't have access to SNES functionality.

I started a poll for the first question. After that poll runs we can gauge how we want to move forward with the second question.

How should game entries with SGB Support be labeled?
Aren't these different questions? Game entries are not tied to a system anymore and the separate SGB entries have been deleted. The publications are still listed as SGB.

Is there really no other option than that.... purple/yellow stripe strip "color"? That kind of makes it look like now those areas are conflicting with surrounding areas too.
I suppose there are other options. It would lose some frames on some dinosaurs.

Why not add the parser yourself Alyosha? Should be quite simple if it's the same as bk2.

I've been cataloging user files for the past few days and only now have looked through this thread. The wiki could do with better documentation of the nuances because I don't really care to read multiple forum pages of back-and-forth to find answers. The "Name" field in the Game Version should be "File name". When cataloging I've been doing the bare minimum necessary to add the system (copying the game name and leaving the region as U, unless I know it was only released in a certain region). For sorting, I'm more used to ignoring "The". The site could support this by having a separate sort name. For a Wikipedia example, The Simpsons: Bart vs. the World has a default sort key option like
{{DEFAULTSORT:Simpsons: Bart vs. the World}}
which will sort it that way in all the categories it's in. There's also an additional
[[Category:Video games based on The Simpsons|Bart vs. The World]]
so that specific category will sort it in that way (having every Simpsons game sorted by Simpsons would be unhelpful). Whichever way, the inconsistencies with "The Game" and "Game, The" should be removed. I don't know of a good way to search for existing examples of the latter.

Interested in TASing this but haven't looked into it yet. The Simpsons NES games are long-overdue submissions. There's a couple of YouTube videos. Link to video Seems to come in at just under 8 minutes with TAS timing. Done on QuickNes core. Commentary is hard to hear. Link to video Without commentary. There's a lot of information on speedrun.com here. They mention trying to sync Sami's run from this thread, which sounds like a pain since it was done on an old emulator and a bad ROM. There's also wall clipping, but no use for it yet known.

I wasn't getting at accuracy to console, unless that is the cause of the current issues. PCSX2 is listed here as "Preliminary reports indicate instability with sync requiring multiple movie files to create a final product." Issues such as this prevent it from being acceptable for the site. If this speed vs. accuracy is a question that needs to be answered to implement better TASing tools, then the answer is probably a bit of both. TASes aren't made at full speed so being able to play at a high framerate isn't massively important. The accuracy should be enough that it's not introducing new glitches or something of the sort.

Are you asking as an emulator developer? I think the priority would be reliability, as PCSX2 has TAS tools but is unstable with regards to syncing. Past that I don't know.

I've been doing various things on the wiki but would like to address the starting point for all to-dos: updating the TODO page itself. What needs to be done and how will it improve the site?

Still haven't heard from warmCabin. I'm probably going to make a new submission with the fixes, unless someone else wants to (feel free).

Atari Jaguar/Jaguar CD, BSX, TIC-80 and 64DD are not in Wiki: EmulatorResources since the release of BizHawk 2.9. Also Wiki: Platforms hasn't been updated in over a year, meaning platforms like Flash, PC98, PICO8, MacOS, and the other platforms I mentioned above are not present on the page either.
Should all be up to date now. Some of the Platform descriptions are a bit short, but I didn't feel like adding "It was a commercial failure" to half of them.
