I figured there was clipping shenanigans going on but I couldn't figure out the reason for the extra death. So all Links need to be alive and in-bounds in order to change screens. Good to know.

I'm guessing there was a major glitch being enabled by the death sequence?

FYI: I got content ID Matches on Stage 6, Stage 7, Stage 8, and Stage 11. Apparently the Audiam label holds some music rights for Dan Froelich's compositions for the series. None are severe enough for a copyright strike, but the content id match is there.

Let me try again. On the N64, is it a softlock or an actual crash with a visible dump? On that note, is there a (Removed by moderator. Please read the site rules. --Mothrayas) ?

Is there a 100% run of this in the works? If so, have we found what governs Picolyte progression?

Twitch Username: Raekuul Link to stream page: http://www.twitch.tv/raekuul Do I stream speedruns: Nope, not confident enough in my RTA stuff - TAS Work? I'm only working on two games and not very frequently, plus the one is boring as all hell to see someone else play - Races from SRL? Again, not confident enough in my RTA stuff. What else do I stream? Well, I did stream me recording random crap in Audacity the other day... Do I stream on a schedule? Nope.

When you say crash, is it a softlock or an actually dumping crash?

Someone could make a tool assisted demo as an experiment. My experiment: - Get bottle with red potion - Get room key - Get moon's tear - Do the curiosity shop glitch - Get seven pieces of heart (Deku Scrub minigame, the slide, 10 seconds, the hand in the toilet, in front of the clock tower, atop of a tree en route to the swamp, 5000 rupees at the bank) - Get maps of Clock Town, Woodfall, Snowhead, Romani Ranch, and Great Bay 5000 rupees in one day is possible, just go back and forth between the bank and the curiosity shop. We replace the room key with an empty bottle, it disappears when you return to the first day.
...and what will that experiment prove...?
Getting all the things accessible as Deku Link before getting back the Ocarina of Time.
I'd also like to see that, why don't you TAS it? lol
I would love to see getting a bottle as Deku Link; I think it would have to be glitch exploitation though, as Koume won't accept the potion from Deku Link and I think you need to have seen the "Give Me A Potion" text at least once before Kotake will give you the freebie.

@Sappharad: The actual offsets for the ram values I need to pull for the Maple Meter and health meter are in different places between the two games. Probably because of the difference in titles, now that I think about it. And it's more "I haven't played with the case/switch flow control yet" than anything else.

I've been experimenting with a partial hud replacement for the Zelda Oracles games - nothing fancy, just a replaced health meter and an added Maple meter. I've just run into the issue that Seasons stores the bytes I need in a different location from Ages, so either I make two flavors or I actually study case/switch flow control. The reason Gasha Tree progress isn't included? Each tree has its own byte.

DOS Battle Chess would probably be the best option for a nonvault chess TAS, and even then it's iffy. Games such as Othello and Scrabble have a higher chance of having an entertaining TAS made because (A) there's more visual variety to what's going on by their very nature, and (B) you don't have the four move victory that Chess has. The recent Scrabble TAS being an obvious exception to that, as most people playing Scrabble allow for first hand mulligans and nobody plays Scrabble with only two people. With that said, dicey board games would also be interesting just from the sheer amount of luck manipulation that goes into it. Can you imagine a game of Risk being TASed? You wouldn't just want to manipulate yourself into getting only 6's, but you'd also need to manipulate the computer such that (1) they don't get 6's against you when you're attacking and (2) their actions end up weakening the CPU overall by combinations of costly victories and strategic failures. And of course you'd want to take Asia as soon as you can for that nice fat 7/turn bonus, if you're playing under the traditional rules you'd also be manipulating the cards to always have one country where you're going on the offensive when you turn in early sets. The issue with board game games is that there's very little to optimize outside of the winning strategy. A raw strategy game like Chess can be beaten in four moves, so a vault TAS of even something like Battle Chess would be zero-effort. Checkers and Go have similar issues but it's easier to find an artistic way to win on the road to optimization. Scrabble would best be used as an examination and exhibition of flaws in how the game's dictionary is handled. And then there's the campaign mode of SNES/Genesis Super Battleship.

The hack itself is just a recreation of SMB1 in SMW. While interesting from a standpoint of "What would SMB1 look like with SMW TAS strats", the SMW engine doesn't handle these comparatively lightweight levels well - and it looks like it also doesn't do warp pipe splitting properly, either. It is possible to warp from 1 to 3 or from 4 to 6? Also spin jumps kinda destroy most of the difficulty of SMB1 anyway.

I'm going to vote meh on this. On the one hand, doing this is an impressive success. No Gas is already very tough in this game, and Pacifism is also incredibly difficult. Both in a game that's around Megaman 3 levels of difficulty. On the other hand, as many have stated before, the category choice itself is flawed. Since the author seems to have preferred "No Gas" over "Pacifism", this really should have been done as a straight No Gas run. I suspect that now that this has been submitted there'll be straight No Gas and straight Pacifism runs in the future.' EDIT: Also desyncs on BizHawk to the point that he's dead at frame 4444, which looking at the input file should not be the case. What needs to change to make it sync in BizHawk? Never mind, was using the wrong core. Except now it's desyncing on stage 2.

I *think* the only reason NES Zelda 1 has all maps and compasses collected is that there's no text associated with the items. Can you imagine doing all the everything in Link's Awakening, with its text boxes for every last anything? While there are at least a couple movies where the run goes for something completely arbitrary and it can be considered a form of 100%, for the most part anything labeled 100% is going to use an already established definition, which in this case is the Zelda speedrun community's definition of 100%. I think they've already been posted but I'll post them again for good measure.
Obtain 20 Hearts* Learn all songs Collect all 100 Golden Skulltulas** Obtain Double Defense and Double Magic Obtain the Gerudo Card and Stone of Agony Obtain the Giant's Wallet Obtain all items on the Item Select subscreen (Eg. Din's Fire, Boomerang)***. Obtain all equipment on the Equipment subscreen (Eg. Goron Tunic, Hover Boots, Golden Scale)*** Obtain all Spiritual Stones and Medallions (Eg. Zora's Sapphire, Shadow Medallion) Complete the game (reach the credits) Other notes: RBA/BA is banned Timing ends on last hit on Ganon Maps, Compasses, and Boss Keys are not required Ganon's Castle trials are not required Obtaining the cow in Link's house is not required Buying or planting all Magic Beans is not required Duping a bottle over an item is allowed, but your final inventory must be complete *: You may not collect any heart piece more than once. You may not obtain the extra heart piece in Gerudo Fortress as child or the extra heart piece in Kakariko Graveyard. **: You may not collect any Golden Skulltula token more than once. *** Only highest upgrades are required for the following items. I see this playing out in three variations. The regular any% on the first run, using that for the validation movie for 100% Hero Mode, then using THAT movie for an optimized glitch% run.

I find it interesting how people are arguing "not enough hammers" in the version where the hammer brothers respawn after clearing all 90 levels. (It's actually possible to get stuck with hammers in your inventory and no way to use them.)
There's no postgame content, so there's no real point in TASing more than one pass through the game just to get enough hammers.

The way I see it, there are two possibilities. 1) Scrap pacifism and just go with "No Depletable Armaments" - creating a wholly new branch. 2) just go with "Pacifist" and adjust previous stage routes to allow the Arrow.

The 100% of the NES game is being worked on. Not sure what this has to do with anything but ok.
Again, the GBA version doesn't really bring anything to the table as far as World 1 is concerned. If the GBA version is to be run, the eReader levels haven't been done yet.
All x and all y is the set definition of Z% in a game without a % tracker is what I arbitrarily believe in btw. You don't need the things I personally think you don't. In fact, its impossible to define because you do not have enough persons opinion on the subjective definition.
Okay then, go do a 100% run of Tetris. The issue with this attitude is that then you get players who, like the run maker in this case, will then decide to attempt to do something that is numerically impossible (in this case, the numerically impossible thing is doing all the bonus games and toad houses - there aren't enough hammers to do it in one pass, and do you really want to watch someone TASing the Spade Houses?)

So I don't know if any other versions of Eye of the Beholder are being worked on - I would suspect that the SNES version would be the preferred one for a movie if the DOS original can't be made to work, but the GBA version has a few... differences that may make it worth at least experimenting with, if not doing a proper run of. The key differences between the GBA version and basically all prior versions is that the GBA version's battles are third-person isometric tacticals as opposed to a pseudo-fps RPG. (To use a more accurate, if less comprehensible, comparison, it's essentially Unlimited Adventures updated to 3rd Edition and fed the Eye of the Beholder campaign as the adventure module, then stripped down to fit the GBA.) I've started messing around with the first floor, but I'm having trouble figuring out the RNG - if anyone's interested and able, help would be appreciated. The door opening seems to take 50 frames but I'm not entirely certain right now and need to retime it. The only reason this is a thing I'm posting is because I think it'd be a neat AF submission - when you're not watching boring fighting, you're being spun senseless from the basically instant movement. This is the movie of my tinkering; it syncs on the EUR 5 language version and on Venom's U Dump. The desync at the end is me putting in the rest thing afterwards in TASEditor Studio and not compensating in the battle afterwards. EDIT: YouTube Encode for those who can't BizHawk. Link to video

Hello JeyKey_55; welcome to TAS Videos. Unfortunately, there are a couple issues with your submission, some of which have already been mentioned.
  1. The Workbench is meant for movies being evaluated for publication, not for Works-In-Progress. If your movie is not complete or polished, consider posting in the relevant threads for the game and getting feedback there.
  2. As a general rule, movies must play the game to some degree of an ending. As SMB3 has a definite ending that can be reached in normal play, it can't receive a special exception.
  3. There are numerous SMB3 movies already; though they are not specifically for the GBA remake, most of the ground for this game has already been covered. Outside of running the eReader stages, you may be better off starting with one of the extant runs and going from there.
  4. While there is no extant 100% SMB3 movie on any platform, my understanding is that it would simply expect all stages and map encounters to be cleared. I'd advise checking with the SMB3 veterans on what would be expected out of a 100% SMB3 run.

It looks like the vast majority of those games in the collection are "Stream Only", meaning "Play ONLY in Browser" - so take this candy store with a grain of salt.
