It’s surprising that such a run receives so negative feedback on Youtube
It's not surprising to me. Mario TASes have notoriously bad like/dislike ratios on youtube, because people watching them think the glitches are cheats (because they don't look very glitch-y, such as passing through a pirahna plant's graphic without getting hit, or doing a walljump). This one in particular is a warpless walkathon, so it's about the slowest TAS intended for speed you could make.

Technically, for the disappearance of a verification movie to be a problem, post TAS publication, would require ALSO that you don't trust everyone who verified that the verification movie correctly creates the SRAM used for the published TAS to be reliable.

It's too bad that we'll never see a TAS with the double intermission skip because the reroute made single intermission skip faster again. (Or does Masterjun disagree?)

Compared to the best RTA video I see: 1000 points ahead 28 seconds in. 1900 points ahead 48 seconds in. 7600 points ahead 60 seconds in. 31600 ahead 1:28 in. 55200 ahead when your video ends. Promising - looks like there's tons of points to gain just from absorbing bullets better (and it'll get even better whenever TAS gets a bigger chain RTA can't) :) And if you say you can get even more points ahead - awesome :D EDIT: Do you mean like, if you shoot an enemy until it's almost dead, then use homing missiles, you get more points than if you only did one or the other?

On Hidden Mansion only? Or in either mode?

If you're curious, there's a joke TAS where Maxim collects all furnitures on nicovideo. Link to video

I don't think you need to combine two goals (making a verification movie + making a submittable TAS) if they don't synergize well, just because both need to be done.

I never see any hype for the maxim in-bounds TAS, so if this one is better, it should replace it.

My apologies, I must be thinking of a different TAS then.

It remains rejected because of the platform it was made on, which tasvideos doesn't support/recommend as a TASing platform, and has a low optimization level as a result.

pirohiko, the production value of your TAS and custom HUD is extremely high as always. Glad to see this game get the TAS it deserves. I hope to see area by area comments soon so my friends can follow along :)

Why, what's wrong with it? (If you don't want to read about newbies, you can just not look at anything in the Newbie Corner - that's what it's here for)

Depends on platform. PC, probably not yet. DS and Wii, sure.

More Symphony of the Night can't go wrong! (You link to the wrong TAS in the first line of the description, btw)

The thing about a markov chain for a pokemon RBY TAS is that it mashes buttons randomly for no reason other than to manipulate the RNG, so it will be very 'noisy'

I'm going to say N?K and I win. 55~56 inputs per round (average). #4192: Spikestuff & NhatNM's PSX Tekken 2 in 02:11.78 If not possibly a second or third place. But the thing seems more restricted to fighters.... so no.
But you use different inputs each time, so surely that doesn't count? And before anyone else brings it up: In Rampage you can just spam (I think it's A) over and over to keep using continues and the game eventually completes itself due to everything timing out.

From this page's break down of the ranking system, it seems that if you are fully powered up and never die, loop 3 Very Hard is as hard as it gets (rank 31/31). http://www.gamestone.co.uk/gradius/forumvb/showthread.php?t=3432 Is there a way to start on a loop besides 1? I've also heard of an option to turn off the slowdown from too many bullets ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yYn-PTSR3nc ). It might only be in ports of the game. That would increase the difficulty further.

Sure there is! Popularity contest. :) And to make it fair, don't say which author is for both playarounds, so there's no 'name bias' e: and deliver them to watch in random order, so there's no bias for that either
