You can still complete the game normally. You just get F-ranked.

If Boch can't then you can still do an infinite regression using PearPC and VMWare.

I can if you would like, but I'm 99% sure. My logic comes from the jump that you can barely make to the top of the entrance to Dodongo cave. It's much easier to make it with a side jump then a backflip. I assume backflip is what's meant by backwards running. If this is an incorrect assumption then I apologize.

About ranks, a TAS shouldn't care about ranks. Ranks are a sign of skill when someone plays through the game unassisted and a TAS is not about skill (well, not the skill of playing through the game), they are about perfection. Perfection in the case of this game is speeding through the game while killing everything in you parth IMO. Don't go out of your way to kill enemies, it simply looks unnecessary. If you want to show off S-rank skills, then do an unassisted speedrun.
Umm... you can retire in most missions. So if you're not aiming for a rank then it would be far faster to enter every mission, retire, until the end. And that would make a boring game. S-Rank is the only logical way.

Fastest movement is side jumping. But it's also the most difficult to line up.

Your run looks great so far even though when I watch it, it seems to get interrupted every 5 seconds by an error message which only occurs when you're in a battle (ie. when you're just walking/biking around, no error message occurs). Does anyone know how to fix this? The error message says: "Error creating file C:\ ... \Pocket Monsters Green (v1.0)(J)[S].sav" Thanks in advance, and again, good job so far on the run.
Is the directory the file residing in read-only?

Is a sub 2 hour run possible? Probably not. I'd probably have to keep this pace and find some pretty big timesavers on top of that in order to accomplish it.. and after thinking about it the really big timesaver (skipping the Silph Co. tower to avoid picking up the Silph Scope) probably isn't possible because I don't think I can access the Gym in that city without chasing out the Rockets in the tower.
The dead Marowak prevents you from going all the way through Pokemon Tower. So you can't get the Poke Flute. It's a forced encounter, and if you don't have the Scope and you run away it moves you back a space.

Bah. Maybe I should just take a stab at this myself. If, for no other reason, than to prove that Zapdos is useless. Completely, utterly useless.
I'm not arguing that Zapados isn't useless. He is. I'm just pointing out that if you're going to use time to get as a reason not to get him then you should realize that with luck manipulation it doesn't take very long at all.

Doing E4 with Blastoise alone means you'll be out of PP quickly, and there's not many PP-replenish items lying about.
Perhaps this is a use for the Missingno. glitch.

Consider getting zapdos, it defeats sabrina and lorelei with no problem and might kill some of the rival's pokemon faster.
Ach, no. No Zapdos. It isn't needed EVER. I dunno why it was attained in the speed run. There's never really a time when you need an electric type. Sure, it could get rid of a FEW things faster, but the time it saves is completely negated by the time it takes to GET IT.
This might matter in a speedrun, but a TAS is a different matter entirely. Encounter, Pokeball, End.

I can confirm what Tilus says. Everything in this game is effected by a RNG. Including the starting stats of your pokemon. So you might want to make sure you get a good one. I'd love to see the WIP. And yes, those trainers in Vermillion are f*cking annoying.

Remember, sometimes you can start input before the menu is fully loaded. Sometimes as many as 5 or 6 frames beforehand.

Hmmm... Zelda 1: Zelda 2: Zelda 3 & 4: Zelda 5 & 6: Zelda 7: Zelda 8,9 & 10: Zelda 11: If anything Link seems to be getting less Japanese, his hair is more blond, his eyes are blue instead of brown. And, aside from the dreadful fuckup that was the character design for TWW, Link also appears to be becoming more realistic as time goes on. Though he is also becoming more bishounen as time goes by as well. With some good The Wind Waker loticon thrown in there for good measure. But he's certainly not someone I'd mistake for a girl, so it's not nearly as bad as it could be.

Some thoughts. First, in this game moving against the wall daigonally does slow you down, unlike LttP. You can kill the first boss in one pass if you throw the head away and kill the spirit with your sword. Also, if you push the triforce block the other way Impa won't shy away from it. And there are numerous other minor optimizations you can make. But I'm assuming this is a test run, so I'll keep my mouth shut. It's probably faster to mow multiple bushes by poking them. I also get the desync. But I think I may be using a different ROM... I say this solely because the puzzle with the cube is a different color than I remember it being. I remember blue, but in the ROM I have it's red....

You should put that movie in a box, label it "Pure Distilled Awesome" and sell it.
