Speaking of which, I wonder if it's possible to overflow Mario's velocity, a la Zelda 2. Does anyone know how Mario's velocity is stored in memory?

The way the bug (seems to) work it's limited to water areas. Because the assumption that erokky's exploiting is "Link will only move in the direction he's facing," which can only be false when he's in water and he has an acceleration. Link seems to have strange ejection routines which probably bear more study, either way though, great finds erokky. That was a wonderful birthday gift.

You can actually make it just in time if you continuously roll and take a very direct path.

Cresent Island was nearly impossible. The coins were so far off course.... EDIT: Note to self, coins are not balloons.

Then that's already covered under the rules, if he tries to intentionally add a bug to the programming and exploit it, or, even more in the gray area, intentionally forgets to remove a bug from the game, and it slips past QA, more power to him. That's why the mockball is allowed, and the wild warping in Crystalis is not.

iirc, the tag was created when the first Dragon Warrior TAS skipped saving the princess. Which is considered semi-important, but very, very possible to complete the game without doing (ie not mandatory.) Its usage has since been... muddled. But that's the beginning of the tag.... Carry on.

Why? We still don't know if the mockball was intentional or not.

I thought the method used to determine that this run was legit was a comparison of the colors. (Emulators don't handle NTSC colors very accurately)

I'd like to see a Super Tails run, but that's just because I'm a complete Tails fanboi.

I think its a good idea just having random pictures that change when the page is reloaded. And what is with the faxanadu picture being animated?
Because the characters in Faxanadu are all afflicted with the blinking madness.

That's up to the user to decide, there's tools for that if you don't want to transmit your referrer string, or you can copy pasta. What if I'd like to have referrers for whatever reason? I don't see why you should make that decision for us. I see that as much a threat to my liberty as telling someone merely where I was last.

Dreamcast Emulator? What about a Saturn Emulator? I'd love to see a couple of speedrun of those games.

I've only watched the run once (yet), but here's some questions:
  • you're getting a 5th energy tank in maridia, being quite some detour. Is it really needed or faster?
  • From what I can tell, that's needed to survive Mother Brain.
  • Nope, 5 tanks was the minimum a couple of versions ago, but on this one when he's hit with the Brain beam he's at 474/599, clearly one tank can be ignored. (He has 35 left after)
