Nice, total immersion in the creation process can be very fruitful if you can pace yourself. Wasn't expecting this to be done nearly as soon but I'm really looking forward to the release! From what I've already seen I have no doubt you did the game justice.

I really enjoyed this movie, plenty of interesting tech that is too rarely showcased. Very impressive TASing! I will have to rewatch the commentated version because I'm not as familiar with MM. Thanks for making this, voted yes

My apologies, I forgot that you cannot save the input file over after the movie is (finished). I know how this program works i swear!
Here's the correction with a final time of 2:24:37.003
Surprised by the acceptance, but I agree :) It was the route, or simply the idea of the run that made it interesting, and I'm proud to have brought that idea life. It is almost astonishing that this simple restriction produces such an interesting glitch exhibition, and it showcases many techniques that were more frequently theorized than documented. I'm glad to know it's appreciated here!

If you want to count this as a door, you must also count the gates Zelda opens during the collapse sequence, the 'doors' that Dampe opens during the race, and hey, why not count Water/Spirit boss key skips since you press A in front of it to jumpslash in, and that's another technicality that can be argued? To further corroborate the Goron City 'door' not really being a door, we can look to the fact that it is called 'bg_spot18_shutter' in the game files, while all other doors are referred to as such (en_door, door_shutter, door_gerudo etc). We decided on what definition of 'using a door' we wanted to go with before the run started, and stayed consistent with it. If you have a problem with this definition, feel free to make another TAS using what you find appropriate.

You can use this ground clip to get past that door, but we don't count this as 'opening a door' since it is simply a consequence of talking to the rolling Goron, which we need to do to aquire the Goron Tunic. Plus it functions more as a gate (a la the Gerudo Fortress gate) than a door.

Here is the commentated run with ZFG and I. This makes the lengthy and dry run description come to life in a more digestible way.
Here is a link to the following:
SceneNavi1.2
Master Quest ROM
Lua w/ all scripts used
[MOD EDIT: Link removed - do not link to ROMs. -Mothrayas]
The only thing not included here is N3rd's collision viewer script for reasons already stated.
Here is an early route written before my work on the TAS started.
It seems that some will forever value the TASVideos ideals of what a TAS should be, and that's ok. SL probably knows better than anyone that this run is not optimal, but lets be honest, he's probably one of the only ones, because it still is very fast and the mistakes are not at all obvious unless you have dedicated an absurd amount of time learning the game. The honor of this run being a 'Delight' is certainly more important to us than its (potential) status as Gruefood.

I understand this and agree. While I may disagree with some of the publication rules on this site, I understand that I am more or less a guest in this community and have no desire to impose my own will here.
jmarvin - Thank you. I feel the same way. Although if this is a James Joyce novel, it is most certainly Finnegan's Wake.

While it is possible to RBA more bombs, it would require a different item on C-Right (Milk in Bottle). As said above only Bombchus are affected by Poe in Bottle.
Like I mentioned in the submission text, the full technical explanation for BA and RBA can be found on ZSR but the gist of it is that BA allows us to write items TO the B button, while RBA allows us to USE Bottle items on B to write values into other inventory slots.
I fully admit to the arbitrary nature of this category, but maintain that this does not affect the entertainment value of the run. While disallowing the use of doors in a speedrun is 'arbitrary' in a vacuum, what it means in the context of Ocarina of Time is clearly significant enough to captivate those who are knowledgeable enough about the game to understand it. This run is far from typical, so I would understand any rating.

I am somewhat interested in TASing this game, however I am unfamiliar with hourglass and got it to load the exe, frame advance correctly and not much else. Seems like the game wont actually accept any input while running through hourglass, but it may just be some settings that need to be tweaked within the program that, again, I am very unfamiliar with.
The good news is that there is 0 mouse input of any kind, including clicks. It's entirely keyboard based so I imagine it has a good shot at being workable. I appreciate any advice or help anyone here is able to give me.

I think it would be more impressive if No Doors can be done in a category that accomplishes more of the game.
How would max% no doors look?
max% no doors would be pretty boring. However, what WOULD have a very interesting route would be All Dungeons No Doors. It as actually very close to being possible, the only thing stopping it from happening right now are the 2 doors in between the iron knuckle fight and twinrova in spirit temple. If we could skip those doors somehow, as far as I know doorless All Dungeons should be possible to complete.

My Ninjaedit wasn't fast enough, it seems. In fact I can only think of one (the other ones, I have to confess, had slight problems):
You get the hookshot as a child. That way you don't have to go back all the way through Kakariko as an adult. Getting into dampes grave as a kid can be done in ~3 chus.
I'm not really up to date. How are we able to get there using such a low number of chus? I thought you'd need at least 7-8.
Oh and btw, No doors FTW :D
yeah actually I talked to a few other OoT TASers about this and it seems like it's not really clear how you would do this quickly at all without sling, which you obviously cannot get. Combine this with the fact that you also have to get shield and probably sword, and I'm not sure it would be that much faster if even possible at all under those conditions. Maybe I'm missing something but yeah
also thanks Grunz and everyone else :)
