Not very much at all. This is because I've encoutered some technical difficulty with my laptop. The difficulty being that it no longer switches on. Until this has been resolved I cannot progress with the run. Hopefully I'll be able to get someone to fix it soon.

Yes it is impossible on slippery slopes because the movement is interrupted as soon as you land on it (Mario slides). Even if Mario could stand on it without sliding it is nowhere near steep enough to BLJ off anyway.

The little dark green hill with the red coin on it?
Yes that one. I tried using it to get up to the winding path to the summit which was very close to being possible but I could never quite get it. It's similar to the one outside the castle because it's far too small to build up any useful speed on.

This is well known. I did some testing a while back. You can BLJ there but because of the hill just behind you can't get very close to the castle. Even then you can't store much speed in such a small BLJ area so even if I went around the hill I could never get very far. I also found a similar BLJ spot on a rock in BoB which also turned out to be a dead end towards anything :)

I have a few gripes with this: In the second level you take damage from a fish where it seems avoidable. Why? At the end of level you rapidly press Start and A. This suggests that this movie was made using slowdown rather than frame advance. Am I right? If so why did you choose to play this way? In the boss level with the Old Man and the see-saw, you jumped entirely over it before jumping back onto it to damage him. It looked like this could have been done earlier. Is there a reason for this? I'll withhold my vote until you answer these questions. EDIT - Okay, I've thought it over. The game was better than what I expected. It was fast and the levels were quite entertaining. The sidestrollers however were not, yet you made an honest effort at jazzing them up a bit which was good to see (although not entirely successful). It looked well optimised for the most part. There are many points in platformers where inexperienced TASer's can lose time and you seemed to avoid this. However, like I said before I'm not entirely convinced by several places (I don't have the time to prove myself right (or wrong) so I will ignore it somewhat). My main problem with this run is that you took damage from that fish. Yes, you needed the item but I'm sure that you could have just gone around it. It gives a sloppy and rushed impression. I'm voting meh, but leaning more towards a yes than a no. I've seen far worse debut runs (and runs in general) so good job! It's just those little parts that I did not enjoy.

I knew I'd forgotten something. Here you go. It's pretty poor quality because the area is very dark and I did this quite quickly but you get the idea. It is 4 seconds faster than the WR but I think I could take a tiny bit off. I tried tidying up in a few places but this changed the other Goron's movements and it always ended up being slower so I can't guarantee a bigger improvement. http://files.filefront.com//;7826701;;/ As for the redo, I managed to get back to Snowhead saving 11.5 seconds through removing SoDT. I'll try and get back on this soon but I need to rake together more motivation from somewhere before I do the Lullabye Skip again. Hopefully this won't take too long and I'll be TASing new ground within the next month or two. Edit -- The embedded flash doesn't seem to be working so you'll just have to download it normally I'm afraid :(

I've played up until before the ranch bomb hovers. The time is 5:00am on the first day. For the redo I'll take out the SoDT and then play ISoT immeadiately before the Goron race (the latest point). If it doesn't work out then I'll keep pushing it back until it does. I've managed to manipulate enough rupees to allow me to skip out collecting the 20 from the chest at the far end of Termina Field and also a bunch of bomb drops have been manipulated. In Snowhead Temple I'll fix the Wizzrobe fights and test the above suggested method. I'll post a WIP when I feel I have something worth showing as most of what I'm doing is just what I've been doing since February. So without further delay, redoing from Pirate's Fortress :'(

Here's some good news for N64 TASing. http://www.emutalk.net/showthread.php?t=41037 Rice's Video Plugin 6.1.0 source code for linux has just been released.

Games this short are difficult to improve so congrats on a solid improvement. Voting Yes because it was a pretty entertaining movie and it seems as though a run of this game won't get much faster at all.

That just got weirder and weirder and now I'm very confused. Clear Yes vote :D It looked flawless and it was very entertaining. The glitching and fast movement made this, although the boss fight with that cow skeleton thing was quite repetitve, but you can't help that. Good stuff.

If you used frame advance then it should be perfectly optimal. I watched it and it looked fine. You should try uploading your WIPs here: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php Although the site you used was acceptable if you want to stick with it. I'm looking forward to seeing more on this.

Hey, that was fun. This is somewhat like me, I guess, although it seems impossible to look any older than twelve in this portrait maker.

I have to guess that your error message was 'Windows Media Player cannot play this file' which means your .avi is corrupt. Redownload the emulator and try again with a decent codec like Xvid or x264, but in your case I'd recommend Xvid. Also, if your .avi is corrupt then it won't play on youtube.

Yes, very nice. I haven't as yet seen anything that can be improved and I'm looking forward to more. It's a shame the boss battles aren't a bit shorter. I wasn't bothered, but I think some people might find them repetitive, especially the first.

I thought it was cool, but so many people will hate PSS :P Nice work, and yeah you should use MIPS so you should go back and fix that. I think you should wait for more feedback on PSS because it could get nasty...

If you are interested in seeing a run the chances are you'll have to make it yourself (basically the idea behind all of my work), this is especially true of little known games such as this. Make a test run just to get to know the tools etc. and we'll look at your work and tell you where it's improvable/unoptimised/shit and eventually you'll have the run you want to see. Most of what you need to get you going is here. Good luck!

I've been waiting to see a movie of this game for a while. The pipe glitch almostgot boring, but not enough to stop a yes vote from me. Well done.

As much as I love SM64 this gets a weak yes vote. I think that you could have used far more speed/entertainment trade-offs than you did, especially as so many stars were pretty much unchanged. On the other hand the chuckya glitch is just madness and I never thought it would be in a TAS. Bonus points there and the concept is good. Yes for a concept demo, although this could have been a tiny bit better.

Whoa, how did I miss this topic? I used to play this all the time as a kid and I've been hoping that someone would pick it up. The WIP looked great and I'm looking forward to more. I hope you finish this because I never could ;)

Hmm...sounds like a youtuber talking shit, I've heard they do that sometimes :P Perhaps with whirlwind attack that sounds remotely possible but not with Goron punching which is what I'll be using. I'll investigate just for the banter when I redo that part. I won't get around to progression on this for at least a week as I'm running low on motivation. Doing up to the reanch just makes it feel as if I'm setting myself up for one mofo of a redo (the thought of another Goron Lullabye skip brings tears to my eyes). I will get there in the end though \o/

Edit: Anyone else having trouble viewing that WIP on FF? Mine's just a blank screen...
Yeah, I had to download it and watch it on VLC.
That's because I never uploaded it as a video but as a file instead. It's a personal thing because I dislike FF's video. Just download it normally and you can watch it perfectly well. Also, keep it up Flop, looking forward to it.

I really have to make sure I'm sitting down before looking at the workbench these days as I never know what to expect. A truly incredible improvement, a great effort and great movie. Clear yes vote of course. One question (although I'm 99% sure I'm wrong, I've not played this since I was a kid) can Ganon's position be manipulated? Or does he always appear there? Just so you'd be closer to the door when it opens.

My glN64 doesn't work either, but I was luckily able to watch the first WIP with Jabo 1.5.2 DaShiznawz - No you wouldn't because Link dies outside the temple. EDIT -- I've also made an .avi of the first WIP since no one else has. For some reason, whenever I try and scale the movie in MEncoder my avi becomes corrupted. Therefore the quality can be better. If anyone has any ideas as to what I could be doing wrong please say.

...at least it's not unoptimised. Luck manipulation seemed good and hopefully you can apply that to another, more interesting, game. 4 minutes of this didn't go down well with me and I agree with Xkeeper: a run of a game of this nature is far too predictable to be entertaining. Voting no on this submission. Edit - Also, please fix your submission text, it's stretching the layout of the page.
