Boco has a habit of posting like that. Don't worry about it. I had a look at your run. Although the run desynced at the Wire Sponge lift, I could tell that the run was not as fast as possible. It is faster to have Zero dash along the ground and jump (right+right+jump), rather than jump and air-dash. I also think the damage on the first boss was unnecessary. I definitely look forward to your revision, so good luck on that. I just wonder what's causing the desync. I have the right ROM. And use frame advance! You'll be impressed.

Yes, but slowing down (or speeding up) the CPU cycles has no effect on real-time. You can slow it to 10% speed and some event that takes 1 minute to trigger still takes 1 minute to trigger.

Another problem is that some games rely on real-time. The Sierra AGI adventure games are an example. There must be some way to sync the time with CPU cycles or else recorded input will not work.

It would have been funny, but you can offer them any amount of money for nothing. As long as no properties are involved, the CPU will always refuse the money.

Ha ha, no, I'm not playing at 100%. I'm playing at about 15% usually, sometimes a bit slower if something is ridiculously hard. Are you saying I should start the whole thing over? Because I can do that if you really want me to.
There is something called frame advance. To use, press the \ button to advance one frame at a time. Useful for going at your own pace. Using frame advance seems slow and unproductive at first, but with experience, one will make better movies faster. You can even hold down \ to go faster than 15% would.

If it's a movie, yes. If it's not a movie, it has to be the same input for it to work.

A little problem. The rolls that the CPU's make are highly dependent on random variables. You can't just start up the game and expect it to be the same every time. Unless you ran it from a movie.

Diman, I think you can put the URL to the text file without linking. Copying and pasting the URL into the address bar works. Edit: http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/nes/file/rockin_kats.txt

Diman, it is recommended that you post your progress and ask if anyone has ideas, strategies, improvements, or glitches. If you do that, no one will say that you are "playing for ego".

I think that shortest input should be done if it acts as a surprise factor. The current submission (as with the last 6 movies obsoleted) ends input 18 seconds early. Wonder what the game does during those 18 seconds? If the 25-second strategy I posted works, the amount of time between input end and game completion would be about 3 times longer (75 seconds) than the input movie itself. Of course, in games like Mario 1 or Mega Man 5, ending movie on shortest input would look both bad and pointless. But this is Monopoly. So it really depends on which strategy is used.

We weren't able to make any movie, or else we would have submitted it.

We discussed another strategy a couple weeks ago: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3500&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=32 Rather than trying to manipulate the CPU to accept an unreasonable deal, this strategy offers an unreasonable deal. Once the CPU has its hands on the monopoly, it can be manipulated to self-destruct.

I think it's a hoax. But seriously, the maps made me laugh. Some brilliant artwork they have there. Someone really should make a Mega Man X hack.

Runs lack descriptions when they are not well-known. There may be a bias, but it is about run interest and not about the author running the site. If the author wants a description, the suggested description can be written in the submission text. If you want to see a description for a game that has "TODO: Describe this movie", bother me or another editor until we write the movie description.

It's April 1st already? How time flies fast. Actually, where I am is still March 31st for another hour. :) P.S. I don't like April Fools. But thanks for reminding me so I don't explode tomorrow. :)

Don't presume what the viewers like. Know what the viewers like. If you make a thread about a game and post WIP's, chances are you'll figure out whether people like the game or not. Personally, I would avoid making movies for NES games that don't have movies. All the best ones have already been taken and the bad ones remain. There are many good GBA games so you might like to give GBA a try. Or you could try SNES.

MM1 movies keep on getting better. This should grab MM2's star. Yes vote.

I don't really see what you're trying to say, FractalFusion. Sure, this is a forum dedicated to tool-assisted speedrunning, but this is an unassisted speedrun that doesn't really have to do anything with what we do. He's not implying that it does. It's just linkage to something the people here might like.
OK, I guess people have done that in the past. I wasn't trying to discourage anyone. I was just emphasizing the site's goals.

So this is Half-Life 2 for PC? I guess using a macro controller constitutes tool-assistance. Using a macro controller to glitch a game is not new. However, at this site, we focus mainly on emulated tool-assistance, since emulators have tools necessary to achieve perfection. You are free to post this here, though, since there aren't any PC emulators. I'm not a Half-Life fan though, so I'm not going to watch. Sorry.

I'm fine with the ads if they don't put intrusive sounds in my sound speaker like they do at HIH.

You might consider doing some GBA runs. Many GBA games are good.

How about Game Boy and Game Boy Advance?
The system is set when you start recording, so the only way to make a Game Boy TAS function as a Game Boy Advance TAS (and vice versa) is to hex-edit the file. I did try the bigame movie concept, but the best I could do was to manually input the same thing into two emulator programs side by side, which gets tedious quickly. Snes9x will not accept certain keys when the window is deactivated, like pause, load savestate, or frame advance. I thought about using a macro program to enter keystrokes into deactivated windows but I don't know how, or whether it works.

Depends on what exactly you're trying to watch. Check the Downloads page And read the FAQ before asking questions about these programs.
