This looks like a pretty cool game, and I found the run to have enough action to keep it entertaining for the duration of its (short) length. Yes vote.

Very nice run, seems optimized. Some smart improvements over FractalFusion's run too. Way to go!

We are aware of the hex-unfriendlyness, the issue is that recording full keyboard, full mouse, full gamepads etc for each frame gives you a movie that is several kilobytes per frame. We decided this had to happen, a custom editor may have to be written.
Maybe you could have a certain character, like *, at the start of each frame so the input for any one frame could be told apart from another (so *UpSpace*LeftSpace*UpAsterisk would be understood as three different frames). Then all the custom editor would have to do is make a new line at each * and number the lines, and the frame data could be easily edited.

I agree with mklip2001. I didn't enjoy this quite as much as the Robert L. run, but I still found it entertaining. Wherever this gets published, my vote is Yes.

DarkKobold, now that you mention it, GTA IV has quite a few missions where it seems like it would be so easy to just shoot the driver from a standing position and clear the mission right away, but the shots never do them any damage. Essentially, it forces you to wreck their cars in order to pass the mission. I agree, I would call that unfair.

Looks good, solarplex! I'm not sure if you knew this, but if it would save time, you can miss a ring or two on ring stages and it won't count against you. I think if you miss three, it starts the stage over though.

I also tested Gordo 101 as well as the Lynx version of Chip's Challenge on mednafen-rr-1.1-win32 (with the BIOS image in the right place) and couldn't get either game to launch no matter what I tried. Is the Lynx core broken?

This is the latest WIP he's posted here, up to Butter Building. It doesn't include was0x's improvements, but it should be good enough to console verify (it completes two worlds).

In GTA San Andreas, there's a mission where you need to find a person in one of three ambulances. No matter which ambulance you check first, it's always the wrong one.
If you want another (similar) example, I believe GTA IV does the same thing with a mission where you have to find which of three vans is filled with flat-screen TVs. Out of 4 attempts (resetting if I died so I didn't lose money), I never got the right van on the first try, so it could be the same as San Andreas.

I enjoyed keeping up with your progress in the forum thread. Nice run! And you're right that the time should be around 10:13 and not 8:39. The site parser tends to have issues calculating Dolphin movie times. However, it can and will be fixed before the movie is published. Also, the final encode will need to switch back the left and right stereo audio channels (as Dolphin switches them in the dumped audio file for some reason). Luigi's laugh at 11:10 sounds really weird on the wrong side of the screen.

I don't know this game, but does this run get "all" something, like visit all areas or fight all bosses? It would probably be easier to define this run by what it does than what it avoids.

Thanks hwtw. I went ahead and added the tag.

Btw, the old XRay glitch run's movie text regarding a space/time beam run links to this link rather than the recently published movie. I think it should be changed to reflect that.
For some reason, I thought that paragraph was talking about something different. Thanks for your post; I'll remove that paragraph soon unless someone objects.

Syncs on VBA 23.6 svn480. Also, here are the screenshots suggested in the submission text: 44450 44480 Nice improvement, GoddessMaria! I like all the little optimizations everywhere. Voting Yes!

That would be great, but unfortunately no one's come up with a single phrase that describes all that this run avoids compared to the any% run yet. According to this post by Inzult, this run refrains from both L+R zipping and using unintended exits to rooms. If we want to simplify the branch name, we need something that says "both of these are avoided" in one unambiguous phrase.

also to whoever did the text field. N?K as user wouldn't work due to it breaking the url with the questionmark and all...
Where would his homepage be created if he were to be given one? Once we know that, we can start linking there. For example: [[user:NK]|N?K]

We now have two runs of Super Metroid with no branch name, this and the "X-Ray glitch" run. One of them needs to have one, so how about labeling the X-Ray run "low%", as Cpadolf suggested? Also, does saving the animals qualify this run for the "Best ending" tag?

Is it too late to list mtvf1 as a co-author in the publication, as he is in the submission?

Flappy Bird can't be TASed because, like Temple Run and Jetpack Joyride, it never ends. Android: Angry Birds

this vault thing if i do this superman64 tas would i be at all known?
To answer this question, the run will be published to a less visited area of the site. However, anyone who searches this site or the TASVideosChannel on YouTube will still find it, as will anyone who clicks the Nintendo 64 "All" link on the Movies page. It's an infamously boring game; I don't see why your run's publication wouldn't be at least as popular as the average Moon movie.

An encode has been added to the submission text. While I watched the entire run, I didn't find it that interesting, especially the swimming part. I'm voting No, but I don't see why it shouldn't get published to the Vault.

what makes games not hex-friendly is an RNG, and I doubt this game has one
The level-by-level comments in this run's submission text note some entire levels that are "luck based", which I understand to mean controlled by the RNG. I would assume that at least those levels would desync and have to be redone due to different luck.
