I think we all need to thank CoolKirby for bringing this game into our attention. Without him, we would have never had these increasingly awesome runs in the first place. As for the run, Its great! I like the new routes used here since the previous publication. Also, The spring boots glitch is hillarious to look at. So heres a hefty big Yes Vote from me. Great job from all three of you!
Thank you! Like I said in my original submission text, I made my movie to see just how fast I could complete the game, and never imagined it would get this much attention (or be improved by this much). It's really exciting to see this game getting finished faster and faster, and I applaud the hard work of jlun2 and NitroGenesis to achieve that goal. And, again, I appreciate all the credit and thanks I've been given for TASing a game that I love. As for the submission, great job abusing the boost after the glitch! (I'm guessing that's when the actual "jump" happens.) The new routes in Kelpazoic Jungle and Undersea Desert show that you really know how to use the glitch well, and the new Dutch Under route looks cleaner and therefore better. I hope NitroGenesis keeps the same great boss entertainment strategies this run has (though I'm sure he will). Voting Yes even though the improvement probably will be published instead. If NitroGenesis wouldn't have been able to improve this, then this would most definitely be published.

I can work on this. Didn't know about this issue because somebody else implemented the read only option. What should the exact behavior be when a savestate is made/loaded in read-only mode?
Great! Could you maybe make a modified r7323 with the fix? I'm switching to that revision since it supposedly has fewest desyncs when recording GC TASes.

So "DTM ignored" means they don't even care about our problem? I notice the issue says that happens for versions up to 7506. I assume that was the latest version as of the time of that post, since that still happens on r7573, the one I usually use.

I started TASing with VBA, and while working on my first TAS, it was natural to just stop recording, play the movie, and skip to a savestate to check for desyncs. When I let Dolphin play the movie while I'm doing something else, I usually miss the part I'm looking for and have to start the playback all over again. It wouldn't even be as bad if I was working on VBA or FCEUX, because those run at normal speed and you can even throttle them. Dolphin, however, runs at 12-14% speed when playing back (on my computer), so what should take 45 seconds takes over 6 minutes. And you can't even throttle it.

I mean it records my input. I will load a savestate in read-only mode and it will start recording input from that savestate, as if "read-only mode" was turned off! Do you know how to fix this or have an alternative option for loading savestates in read-only mode?

Oh, my mistake. I thought it was an IPS patch too. In the download for the patch is a text document that tells you what you need to patch your ROM and how to do it.

Whenever I load a savestate from my movie in read-only mode (just to fast-forward through my TAS to see if a part synced), it starts recording from the savestate anyway. Is there something I don't know about how Dolphin understands "Read-only Mode"? This may not be as annoying if I weren't working on a 3-4 hour GC TAS on a computer that runs Dolphin at 12% speed when playing back a recording.

This sounds like it may cause you to skip the Lucky Star; the item that allows action commands. Having no action commands is going to cause some serious difficulty... unless the game bugs out and lets you use them anyway...
Oh, you're right. I forgot about that. And I guess it would be wasting time to go up to Shooting Star Summit after Chapter 1 is completed, if the game even allows that.

It looks great! Brilliant application of the glitch to jump out of the Goo Lagoon cave! And all of the other areas looked better than your last submission too. One question I forgot to ask: would using the portal in Undersea Desert be faster? I know it takes you to a small room with another portal that teleports you further in the area. Otherwise, very strong Yes vote!!

I can't get this to sync on VBA24-VBA-M. I keep getting a delayed A button press at the main menu, and then it goes through most of the intro movie. Were there any special settings you used for this? Or could you provide an encode, maybe?

Well, the SDA 100% run isn't done yet. And snark doesn't appear to still be working on this game (I checked nicovideo), which is too bad since snark was doing really well on the TAS and thinking up better strategies than the SDA run. Anyway, here's a glitch compilation video from YouTube. Maybe the second glitch could be used to glitch into Pleasant Path without visiting Shooting Star Summit? Just an idea.

This was an entertaining fighting game TAS. Good job! I liked the crazy combos and taunts (yawning, going "nyah nyah"). Yes vote.

Could someone send me the patched rom? I would like to test this hack out.
We can't post patched roms here, but here's the IPS patch (uploaded by the creator of the hack, I think): http://www.file-upload.net/download-3541363/SM74-V1.4-English.zip.html EDIT: My mistake, it's a PPF, not an IPS. Sorry everybody.

No word of how far they are in improving the movie here or in the Lost Spatula forum. Anyway, this submission was set back to new while everyone waits for the improvement movie.

The only actual input is going to a password menu and entering a password. Voting No.

I'm not sure about the game choice, since the levels are kind of repetitive and there isn't anything really new in later levels except for a couple of new enemies. Voting Meh.

A good improvement, but there are some serious problems with the idling times in terms of entertainment.
Hate to admit it, but I felt this way too. Maybe while waiting for an oven knob to appear, SpongeBob could jump around or shoot an item or something (see my original run for examples). Maybe doing that in the new improvement can turn the Meh vote into a Yes vote.

Amazing run! I've always wanted to see a run catching all of the Pokémon, and I like how this TAS shows places and missions that the other categories never explore. This movie will deserve a very high technical rating when it's published. I can't imagine how difficult route planning and luck manipulation were (even with the help of a bot). Obvious yes vote.

Yes, the gamepad works in 2.0.2. I just switched the controller from Analog to Digital and it works now. I'm not sure what the difference between the two modes is, but at least the game reads my input now.

I love it! I don't know how you could find an amazing glitch like this, but this is the kind of semi-game-breaking glitch I tried hard to find. It looks awesome too; I really liked The Carnival and Dutch Under. I love seeing this game get finished faster and faster. I hope someday someone will improve it even more, maybe sub 6 minutes (could happen). Yes vote!

Never mind, the problem was PSXjin didn't recognize my gamepad. It works fine with the keyboard. Thanks for everyone's help though. :p
