The choppiness is in the playback of the video, there isnt actually any choppiness when I'm dumping the video itself in dolphin oddly enough.
This is probably because your computer isn't fast enough. Either in decoding speed (CPU) or I/O limited (HD). Honestly for best quality, you should be dumping to Lagarith, but I guess a temp encode to show people with Xvid is fine.

Interestingly, mvtools 2.5.11.3 crashes for me with Osman HD encode, when I use original aspect ratio. It doesn't when I pick 4:3, even though the source is 4:3 already, and sar options aren't used in HD command line! 2.5.11.20 doesn't crash. I was just about to debug, but since I worked around it, nah.
Well if the newer version works, it probably just fixed the bug.

Good point... honestly either it is always English or it is always the original name. But if it is always original name, a lot of it will be in Japanese, lol. I dunno. Edit: I think this should be a new topic of discussion.

I used to do it with DirectShowSource with a graph that loaded LAV Filters, but now the most recent release of FFMS2 does it perfectly with FFVideoSource. It's no longer "a pain".
That's good to hear!

I'm not sure about now, but in the past, loading lossless RGB H.264 in Avisynth was a pain to do with a lot of problems. I think natt figured out a solution.

If you are going to use H.264 anyway, at least place it in MKV and use FFMpegSource to load the MKV in AVS.

Honestly H.264 in AVI is not a good idea, though if it's lossless, there won't be any b-frames, so I guess it's fine. If you have the space, just use Lagarith.

It could just be that the sub plugin doesn't like YV24, so you may want to convert it to RGB32 first (though that's not lossless)

Using a RGB32 clip with a resolution of 256x224, it works fine. Lemme add your resize function. Edit: With the 720 resize, it works fine also.

I'll try it out here. Meanwhile, can you do Info() on both scripts and do a screenshot of the info?

so does VLC and VDub have all the video? You said about 60 mins and they both display a length of 58 mins. Are you just missing 2 mins? If both have all the video, then you should not worry.

Did you also try my suggestion of changing the affinity to only 1 CPU? I can try to see if it syncs here. And if it does, encode it for you. Where can I get the replay files?

Eh it's called personal space. I think there is still some alone time. That is all out the window once you have kids and are stuck until the kids have moved out though. The alone time might but during work or something, lol. I'm sure there are still boys/girls night out and things like that.

I just thought of another factor. I know in the past some emulators get affected by multiple cores. More than likely your new computer has multiple cores while your XP machine may have only one. Did you try to set the affinity or VM to only 1 CPU?

You said you tried Windows XP Trial. Have you tried Windows XP Pro? Also, did you make sure it was completely updated?

Hmm, that is a hard problem. I'm a little surprised that VM didn't work. I assume you used the same Hourglass version that you used to make the videos? Have you tried Hourglass in Windows 8.1 with WinXP compatibility mode?

Thanks for the links. I'll read through them. Note that I have not read the article yet, but my guess is the testing was done on live material vs game material where there is a lot of sharp edges. I don't know how much better HEVC would fair in that. This is why more testing needs to be done.

Hi. One similar question again: since there have been already several H.265 encoders (such as x265) in use, has anyone tested how H.265 performs on TAS movies compared to H.264 that we currently use? When do you think might H.265 start to replace H.264 here? Thank you. :)
I'm not sure if anyone has done the testing yet. I personally have not played around with it, though I really should. Eventually if it is better, I could see a move to it.

After appending avi segments in VirtualDub the audio/video gradually desyncs until the end of the video for me. Is there an easy way to fix this? Or another method that people use for appending avi segments?
I saw you got some solutions already but I'm not sure if they are the correct solutions. Where did you get the segmented AVIs from? Is it a dump from say Gens? If so, there are extra audio samples per part which is causing the desync, so the correct solution is to append the AVIs in AviSynth using ++ instead of +. Example:
AVISource("part1.avi") ++ AVISource("part2.avi") ++ ...

That's an impossible question to answer as you can never know. After all everyone is different including you and everyone thinks differently. You just need to find someone compatible to you. I do know that if you don't try, you decrease the possibility of finding that person. I know getting rejected feels terrible, but learn from it. Maybe figure out what made you think there was something there. Like what signs did you miss that pointed out they weren't interested? After that, you should move on. Again there are lots of fishes in the sea!

There are many fishes in the sea! I can't help you in terms of a relationship (I don't swing that way), but I am still a friend even if we are on different continents. I'm sure you'll find someone!

kkapture's source code is available; maybe it can be compiled as a 64-bit application?
That thought did cross my mind as I have made my own builds in the past. Not sure which parts needs to be modified for 64-bit though.
