You have chosen an excellent first project. The current publication for this game may be my favorite TAS on this site. I am thrilled to see further improvement! YES to dead genres! (And by extension, yes to Déjà Vu and yes to Uninvited, as well.) Obvious bias aside, I would like to see runs of this game stop bouncing between Moons and Vault, and be placed in Stars Tier.

This is definitely worthy of a TAS. It is a unique classic, and notoriously difficult. It's unfortunate that Final Burn Alpha does not support the arcade version, but this port is actually quite impressive for ColecoVision.

I can understand ALAKTORN's frustration. I think it is encouraging to see someone passionate about their work.

Also, now I want to see a Pac-Man arcade TAS.
In the fullness of time, this dream will be realized. I don't think it would be necessary to play through Level 256. Playing through Level 21 should be enough to meet the TASVideos standard, as the game does not change beyond this Level. Level 13 might also be considered acceptable, as this is the last Level to feature a new Bonus Item. Please pardon the off-topicness.

dekutony & solarplex's DS Club Penguin Elite Penguin Force Herbert's Revenge in 2740.1 Submitted at 2015-06-12 022156 megajohnman Joined 2015-06-13 081816 Last online 2015-06-13 093755 Total posts 1 This sort of ruse has occurred with other users in the past, with the frauds being promptly revealed as such (as it should be). In this case, I was the only user who cared to mention it. Certainly I could have waited 2 months before my first post about it, but why tolerate for so long that which was immediately apparent to me? This is just a confirmation for those less inclined to act on instinct. I won't ask for an apology; the life lesson is the important thing.

It was a mistake to accept the previous submission as it was. To argue that the new submission should be accepted based on a previous mistake is fallacious. I respect that Keylie has been receptive in addressing this issue, and even has a plan. You are a true TASer, sir.

I'm impressed by your dedication! Not everyone is so willing to accept criticism. I think you will do well here.

To set DIP switches for this type of game, load a game and then adjust the DIP switch settings in the emulator menu. When the DIP switches are set as desired, either press F3 to reset the emulator, or exit and restart the emulator. It is recommended that you exit and restart the emulator, as this method immediately creates an INI file which stores the DIP switch settings. After the emulator has been restarted, the game can be loaded and played, or a recording can be made, with the new DIP switch settings already configured.

My understanding is that a TAS should be made on the hardest difficulty, unless there is a good reason to do otherwise. What is your reason, CReTiNo?

The Difficulty Level DIP switches determine the number of enemies that spawn at Ambush Points, and determine the number of enemies that are allowed to simultaneously occupy the screen. They also determine the amount of damage that a Hero's attack does. This game uses physical DIP switches, rather than digital. Because there is no digital interface, the DIP switch settings must be adjusted in the emulator prior to Power-On. After Power-On, the DIP switch settings cannot be changed until Reset or Power Off. The status of these DIP switches is indicated in the RAM. When a recording is created, these RAM values are permanently set and cannot be changed, even by a memory cheat. Due to the rather different nature of arcade machines, difficulty settings may not always be readily apparent in a TAS. For Final Fight, Memory Address 00FF8064 indicates the DIP switch status of Difficulty Level 1, Difficulty Level 2, and Extend. In this case, a value of 11 indicates that the recording was made at Normal Difficulty Level 1 (2 out of 4) and Normal Difficulty Level 2 (4 out of 8). These are the default settings for the game.

Too bad about the difficulty. Skill Level 5 provides a +20 bonus to every attribute of every enemy Daimyo and enemy Fief. This would definitely be preferred. Skill Level does not affect enemy AI directly.

It's exciting to see another Koei strategy game submission. Hopefully, this one will reach publication. Assassination helps to streamline this game in particular. I think that Scenario 2 (50 fiefs) would merit its own branch.

Why was this not done on the maximum Difficulty Level settings?

It's exciting to see some real optimization here! I was a bit surprised that the current publication was even accepted after Soig's first submission had been rejected.

This is good stuff. Very tightly manipulated! Of course this will be judged harshly, being Atari 2600, but this is one of the best games from one of the best developers for the console, Imagic. It also turns out to be one of the most TASable.

megajohnman was directed by the author to create an account and post a positive comment. One cannot expect him to be familiar with the rules and procedure of this site. This is not uncommon. Some authors feel a need to employ shills, or to rate their own movies, in an attempt to improve the reception of a movie or the author. It is contrary to the rules of the site, and otherwise quite gauche, but these things happen.
